Relaxing Mountain House, Gorgeous Views, Close to Outdoor Fun

Bedrooms 4
Space 1,800 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

Our High Valley House is a wonderful place that has been our family home for the last 12 years. Love at first site is what made us buy it and will make you glad that you are here. Sit in the porch swing or hammock and take in the miles-long view, or enjoy it through the huge windows that surround the house. Better yet, join up around the fire-pit or soak in the hot tub. Easy access to a 4-lane Highway, but very secluded. Close to the NOC, whitewater, Tsali mountain biking, Appalachian Trail, Lake Fontana, Tail of the Dragon for motorcycles, Smoky Mountain National Park, and the Cherokee Casino.

The house layout works great for separating the guests. The master bedroom is on the main level with a Queen bed and the jetted tub with windows to the world. Downstairs, there is the King bedroom, the Double bedroom, and a Kids room with a dual twin bed trundle. There is also a separate bathroom and laundry downstairs. Outside exits from both ends of the downstairs give you easy access to the yard and hot tub. You relax upstairs and put the kids and in-laws downstairs, or switch. Everyone can re-group on the main level with the open kitchen that is great for visiting and enjoying the views out the over-size windows.

If you are in the area to ride your motorcycle on the amazing mountain roads, this house will make a great central base for exploring. There is a huge covered area under the front deck that you can ride into and out of. There is only a short stretch of level gravel road coming into the neighborhood, otherwise all pavement access including the driveway.

Cyclists will appreciate the covered bike wash area to work on and leave their bikes

Fisherman will enjoy the easy access to the Nantahala and Little Tennessee Rivers and Lake Fontana.

There are great quiet walks right from the house and folks with a little adventure can even hike all the way down to the Nature Conservancy tracts of the Needmore Tract on the Little Tennessee River.

All this, yet the house is very easy to access and is only 15 minutes from Bryson City.

We very much enjoyed our stay at your beautiful mountain home. It was a great place to relax and catch up with our grown children. And you can't beat that awesome view from the porch!

The cabin was great! Loved the porch and hammock. Our boys loved the hot tub and my daughter enjoyed reading on the porch swing. The only thing we needed that wasn't provided was a 9x13 casserole. We bought some aluminum ones at the Family Dollar in town easy enough. We had a terrific time and all 5 of us agreed we should go back. (2 adults, 3 teens). Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. We hope to be back soon.

The house was great.

We had everything we needed. very clean and neat. Our favorite part was the porch. We spent as much time out there as we could. The sun rising over the mountains was beautiful. Quiet neighborhood and loved meeting Elwood the dog. A little farther from town than expected but closer to the national forest and outside adventures. We loved Bryson City. We would definitely recommend this house and the surrounding area.

Great place for family get-away

  • 5 of 5

The Cranford's house is simple and well thought out. Everything was as described and functional. My family spent the weekend (9 adults) and the main floor space was perfect for us to be together without feeling like we were on top of each other. The upstairs loft is very nice as well. We had a great time hanging out on the porch and using the hot tub. Would absolutely recommend.

Great experinece...view....porch...convenience....amenities.

The property on High Valley Road was, again, an overall great experience!

The listing was spot on...what a view!!

The property was well maintained and it appeared some minor improvements were made since our last stay in 2015. We were, however, disappointed in the condition of the B B Q Grill....and the propane tanks were both empty. The inconvenience of having to refill a tank was unexpected. Also, the trundle bed a bottom bedroom should have a mattress on top of the box springs.

The Owners are great to work with and are very good about returning emails addressing our needs. We have enjoyed the relationship with them for many years.

Our group visits the house each year for the motorcycle rides in the greater area....awesome experience! We cook most meals in the house.

Our group of 5-6 has stayed in the house 5 different occasions over the last 6 years. Our group continues to return to this house because of it's proximity to our activities, the convenience of the amenities the house offers and the care the Owners have taken to keep the house in good condition.

Our group will definitely look to book our trip again late summer with the Owners if it is available.

Owner's Response: Ray, Thanks for staying with us again and we love that you guys keep coming back! I'm really sorry that the backup propane tank tricked us into thinking it was full and I'm still trying to figure out what is going on with the trundle, as this was news to me. I'll get them both solved! I'm glad that it was a great trip for your group again! Kent
