Welcome to Black Mountain Lodge, a five-unit property where each unit has its own private entrance. Unit 2 is a spacious, 659-square-foot apartment with a ground-level entrance located around the back of the building.
Step inside to a generously sized kitchen with a dining table, a drip coffee maker, and all the essentials you need for cooking and dining.
The adjoining living room offers a large, comfortable seating area where you can relax and unwind. A smart TV is available so you can sign in to your favorite streaming subscriptions.
The bedroom and bathroom are conveniently located just off the living room. The bedroom has one queen-size bed and comfortably accommodates up to two guests. Please note that the bed is the only sleeping space. There is no sleeper sofa, and fire-zoning regulations do not allow cots or air mattresses on the floor.
This home is more than 100 years old and sits among large, mature trees. Because of this natural setting, insects may occasionally find their way indoors.
Pets are welcome. If you bring one, please be considerate of the other guests in the building. Dogs must remain on a leash at all times and be crated if left alone. Please do not bring a dog that will bark while you are away. Thank you for helping us keep the property comfortable for everyone.
For everyone’s comfort, this is a non-smoking, non-vaping property. Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere inside or outside the property.
Please note that we do not have a front desk or concierge, so your stay will require a little self-sufficiency. We’re happy to help with questions or concerns during reasonable hours, but we are not a corporation and do not have staff available 24 hours a day.
Self check-in is available anytime after 4:00 p.m. You may check out anytime before 10:00 a.m. on your departure day.
This is a very old home with gas furnaces for heat and window air-conditioning units. Because it is a shared building, you may occasionally hear neighboring guests.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Disliked: Listing accuracy
Property was very close to town. Never had to get in the car. The price was definitely good. Only drawback was that there was much maintenance that needed done. Hole in the living room floor under the rug which could have resulted in serious injury. During a rain storm the water was dripping badly from the hole in the ceiling. Luckily it was over the tub. No cable or satellite and we were never able to download our streaming apps to the television.
Location was ideal to walk into Black Mountain and explore. Suite was perfect for our weekend getaway.Louise’s Kitchen, Recess Coffee, Que Sera - Oyster Bar, Foothills Grange & Old Town District were all great!
I stayed here 4 nights with my dog and this place is excellent value for money! Communication with host was prompt and helpful. The place was really cute, a good mix of updated and traditional. It was very clean, well equipped and super convenient for all the restaurants, shops and galleries in downtown Black Mountain.
As the hosts mention in the description, this IS an old building and as such, the apartment is not perfect inside and you can sometimes hear neighbors, but the reasonable price reflects this. So if you can roll with a couple of ‘what’s that noise/creak’ and don’t need all brand new and perfect, book this suite and enjoy the area! It’s GREAT!
We were pleasantly surprised at how big the rooms were. The location was great. Close to everything. And it was nice and quiet. It was nice & clean too. Ned was comfy. It was a good deal for the money. There were a couple of suggestions I made to the owner such as the need for a comfy chair in the livingroom, and the need for a few more hand towels and dish towels in the kitchen and bathroom & maybe a casserole dish and a mixing bowl in the kitchen. Little things. I got a nice response from the owner regarding these suggestions. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again!
Unit was more spacious than I thought it would be and was very clean. The unit is on the backside of the house with a small screened in porch. It was quiet and has a parking spot that is practically right by the entrance (which makes it easy to load and unload). The bed was comfortable and the unit was well stocked. Additionally, you can’t beat the location as you are in very close walking distance to the heart of the downtown and only a few miles from the highway. Would stay again.
Suite 2 was very nice and large space. It was basic...no frills. Great location. Walking distances to downtown Black Mountain. Would have wished i had known that we would not have access to the front porch as some other suites. If we did have access , it was not communicated that I remember. Also would have been nice to have somewhere to hang our clothes up. All in all it was a nice place with a great location. Thanks!
The stay was in a great location. The space was very roomy. The shower nozzle was a bit tricky to figure out. The host was responsive. However, when I arrived it was not unwelcoming. The bathroom was not clean. The toilet was brown and hadn't been flushed and there was hair all over the sink. There were spider webs and spiders in the corners so hadn't been dusted recently. There was hair on the coasters and other areas too. It made me feel uncomfortable, like the whole place wasn't very clean. I really wanted to give it another chance and hoped that it was a one time mistake. But the host didn't even try to fix it besides an apology. There were zero efforts into retaining me and could have at the very least offered me a discount on a future booking or the current booking. Very disappointing. I gave an overall four stars but it should probably be less considering cleanliness is one's worst nightmare when staying in a vrbo.
