About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8) maximum per contract.

“E Komo Mai” and welcome to our Tidepools retreat. Come let us explore the beauty of this private oceanfront estate that is steps away from the flora and fauna of tidepools that are home to many of Hawaii’s ocean attractions. Just steps out of our living room are small

and large tidepools to explore and swim in. If you prefer the pristine sandy beaches of Makaha our oceanfront retreat allows you to do both. Makaha is the best kept secret for those who live here and the guest who visit us because the west side has 20 plus miles of uncrowded white sandy beaches with the bluest waters you have ever seen.

Makaha Surfing Beach is known for its great surf and home to many classic professional surfers. In the winter you can count on being treated to spectacular 20 to 30 feet waves on one day and glassy waters the next…unpredictable and worth experiencing.

For snorkelers, Makaha Caverns are right in our backyard and known to have deep caverns and great snorkeling without having to pay the tour boats to bring you here. Each day the 5 star Disney and Ihilani Marriott hotel visitors pay to go on snorkeling excursions and they come right out to Makaha.

Our guest like that we are just far away enough but still close by to these resorts should they want to plan a romantic fine dining evening or go to a real Hawaiian luau. While here on vacation do your day trips to the popular tourist destinations like Waikiki, Pearl Harbor Memorial and other Oahu tourist attractions and still return to relaxation and beautiful sunsets alone and away from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

Other attractions that you will see right out your window is the whales that dance and jump throughout the day during whale watching season. You may even have a chance to swim with the dolphins as they pass by each morning and return back each evening. Our oceanfront is also home to the endangered monk seal and on some occasions you may see them basking in the sunshine on our shores.

Our spacious three bedroom two full bath panoramic oceanfront getaway is perfect for a large family vacation. We can even accommodate family reunions. Let us make this the most memorable vacation and life event for you…please “E Komo Mai.”

*Please see cancellation policy before booking. All cancelations will incur an additional $50.00 administration fee for canceling at any time.

Relax and Enjoy!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous 2-week vacation on Oahu where our accommodations were a focal point to the enjoyment of our trip. Our first visit to Hawaii and first time use of VRBO were both pleasant experiences. Our rental in Waianae was sensational. This 3-bedroom rental was gorgeous. Located on the ground level, we were only a few yards away from the sand and ocean. We and our 4 adult children loved the location and roomy size of this rental. Carolyn and Joe were excellent hosts who provided everything that we needed to live in this home plus readily answered our questions. Although our hosts lived on the second and third floors, we did not feel that we were intruding on our hosts’ home at any time. Early morning talks with Joe, as he maintained the grounds, were enjoyable as we learned about the local and island wide attractions and history. Two picnic tables on the patio and a gas grill made mealtimes outside a treat. We could even see whales while eating our lunch. In the evening, we enjoyed our favorite beverage by the cozy gas fire pit. Lots of lawn furniture and water “toys” were at our disposal.

Snorkeling was great right in front of the house with opportunities for observing and photographing many beautiful fish and graceful sea turtles. Despite a large swell and accompanying waves, the tidal pool known as Beal’s Pond provided a sheltered swimming/wading experience for those less comfortable with in water activities. Makaha Beach was only a short walk away, which was great for walking and viewing the local surfers, who provided a spectacular show of variety and skill. We visited tourist sites in Honolulu and along the east and north shores, but always welcomed the peaceful surroundings at our private respite on the northwest shore. The hospitality, scenery, and soothing ocean sounds afforded maximum relaxation make us say, “CAN WE COME BACK?” Mahalo, Carolyn and Joe! We look forward to seeing you again!

Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and some friends stayed at this property. Carolyn was so helpful in arranging our stay and when we arrived gave some great recommendations for places to eat and things to see. The property is gorgeous and very peaceful. I loved how close we were to the ocean. I loved watching the surfers and walking the beach every morning and checking out the tide pools! The house has fans and A/C. I enjoyed leaving the windows open at night to hear the surf. I would recommend this property for all my friends and family. You will need a car to get to all the touristy places plus 2 hrs with traffic. That was the only drawback. But now that I have seen the touristy stuff I would come back just to relax and enjoy the laid back life of Hawai'i and this beautiful property!

Wow what an amazing spot!

  • 5 of 5

Wow. What a great week we have had here. The host, Carolyn dos a super job of making you feel welcome and the waves here are just incredible. The house is very large and comfortable and could easily sleep six people. It's just so awesome to hear the waves at night and watch them roll in all day right from the entir front of the place. I highly recommend this place. Definitely would return, the beach is right next to the house and it's very nice as well. The place is well cared for and grounds nicely manicured.

very nice house and outstanding view

  • 4 of 5

it was our family vacation for our 25th anniversary, we have four teenage children that love snorkeling and surfing and that place is perfect for it, beautiful sandy beach just a short stroll away or you can sit in your own backyard and listen to waves and enjoy the view. Carolyn and Joe are very nice hosts, they are there if need help and also give you a lot space and privacy. We would absolutely return and rent again.

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and our 2 year old son, visited Oahu with my sister, brother-in-law and mom. There were a total of six of us. We initially looked at some of the resorts on the island but eventually decided to rent a beach house, because it is more cost effective and we wanted to have one central location we can all gather in, instead of going back to our separate hotel rooms. Initially, I was a little nervous about renting a house from a stranger but after the first phone conversation with Carolyn, all my worries were lifted. She was very helpful and friendly on the phone. It really felt like talking to a friend. Carolyn even provided many suggestions about where to shop, eat and things to do in the area. When we got there, the view was just breathtaking and the house was very comfortable. There are tidepools right behind the house and a sandy beach is within a short walk. The kitchen was fully stocked and there were plenty of supplies for our use, including bath and beach towels. If they had a hammock out in the backyard, I might have never left the property the entire trip. Carolyn and Joe were so nice and helpful during our stay, but not too intrusive. They are around if you need anything but for the most part, we didn't really see them much during the week we were there. The only advise I have is that if you plan on a lot of activities in the touristy areas on the east side of the island, such as Pearl Harbor and Waikiki, you might want to give yourselves extra time for the drive. Traffic in and around Honolulu can be horrendous, especially during weekdays. Overall, we had an excellent time and would not hesitate to rent this beautiful home again during our next visit.

Loved every minute of it

  • 5 of 5

I will dream of the view for a long time to come. Just a perfect balance of beauty, seclusion, hospitality, and comfort. We tried to make a decision of whether to stay in Honolulu and be close to things or be away and have our own quiet place on the beach and drive. Driving in Hawaii will always be a challenge to get any where fast, so choose the view! Loved it! Joe and Carolyn were great to work with and felt like friends. I just got home today, and could not wait to write a review. 6 Stars!
