About the property

Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Location: The unit is in the 2200 Building unit 2223. The first floor has the laundry, the second floor starts with the rooms and this unit is located on the third floor. This complex is very close to the entry of the South Seas Resort. So it is convenient for the restaurants and activites outside the resort.

Amenities: There is a beach directly in the front of the unit which is accessed via a path of wood decking. There are two tenis courts (fee to play), 2 gas grills poolside and a covered eating area, also you may select one of three heated pools to use. We provide beach chairs, 2 beach umbrellas not guaranteed any more due to repeat guest damage that is not reported, beach sand toys, and beach cooler. These are located in a locker area on the first floor so you do not need to drag them up the stairs with you. This locked area is an owner area you will have access to. If you rent through South Seas you will not have access to this area. I pay a little more per month to make sure my internet is faster that what is the norm at South Seas

Beach: There are 7 total Beach Villas and only 4 paths to the beach, we are located directly in front of a path. There are elevators in the building or stairs if you choose. Caution: Two of the building do not have elevators (2100 and 2000 buildings). The beach is NOT controlled by South Seas but you may not use the chairs or unbrellas or towels provided by their staff. That is why we provide chairs Your beach towels are located inside your unit.

View of the Beach: Direct view of the Gulf. This unit has only one floor above it so the view of the beach is excellent. There is a screen balcony for which to enjoy the view.

TV's: There are 2 televisions that are flat screen. Both have DVD players. We provide some movies for which to watch. Free WiFi is available.

Bedding: There is a king bed and a pull out sofa bed, plus a love seat in the living room. The bedding consists of a duvet and comforter, Hotel collection decorator pillow shams and down pillows. All linens are also provided for the beds and sofa.

Kitchen: There is a full size kitchen in the unit. All of the necessary items are available for preparing meals for the occupancy of the unit. There is an ice maker in the refrigerator.

Laundry: There is laundry on the first floor that is shared. It is coin operated. So if you are going to use the laundry bring quarters. ($2.25 for a wash and $2.25 for dry)

South Seas Amenities: YOU DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THOSE AMMENITIES. This includes the trolly, the golf course, resort restaurants, gym, and pool complex 2 miles down the raod.

I do require a rental agreement be signed Golf Carts can be rented with a local provider I no longer guarantee the use of umbrellas in my units due to the damage by guests I do have beach chairs and umbrellas but DO NOT guarantee the umbrellas YOU CAN USE THE FOLLOWING: 1. 3 condo pools 2. 3 BBQ areas 3. All pool chairs, loungers and tables at the 3 condo pools since I own in all 3 associations 4. Tennis pay for play just as you would at the resort as of this moment it is $18 per person per day. Rates subject to change by the resort 5. All my beach items to include chairs, beach towels, cooler and sand toys 6. You may eat at Doc Fords and pay with a credit card but there are so many off site restaurants (walkable and others by car) not sure why one would eat at south seas (expensive) but yes you can eat at Doc Fords. 7. You can rent bikes, golf carts and other items of interest with local providers that are less expensive than you would pay with the resort

location, location, location!

A perfect location and sunset view from this charming condo. Top of the line beach chairs, umbrellas, beach towels, coolers were all provided. Clean and cozy condo with everything you need! Walking distance to restaurants, beach and even Starbucks!! We enjoyed dining at the condo as well as dining in many of the good restaurants in Captiva and Sanibel. Owner was very responsive and well organized. One suggestion would be to provide a portfolio of the best restaurants and activities in Captiva and Sanibel. We researched Captiva before we arrived, but it would also be convenient for the guests. It was a perfect vacation!

Owner's Response: I am glad you enjoyed the Tommy Bahama beach chairs and umbrellas. The cooler and beach towels make the luggage you have to bring lighter or save you quite a bit of money while you are there. Having them available for your stay I think is a wonderful perk. Thanks for noticing the responsiveness and organization this is so important with as many personally owned rentals as my husband and I own. Hope to have you back.

Better Than Expected

Location and amenities. Adjacent to the pool and path to beach. We also enjoyed watching the Osprey family in their nest from the screened porch. The lighting in all rooms was bright and kitchen was stocked nicely. As for beach stuff, the locker had 4 chairs, 3 umbrellas, noodles, floats, etc. We wanted for nothing!

Location, Location, Location

We have stayed at South Seas many times. This was our second time renting through Home Away vs. South Seas Direct. You miss out in the South Seas amenities - Daily room cleaning, trolley service, resort restaurants. pools and and boutiques, but their daily fee is not worth it. The Beach Villas are the perfect location for the Beach Lover. Owner provides Tommy Bahama Beach Chairs and Umbrellas, which are top of the line and allow you to settle away from the chairs and umbrellas lined up military style for "South Seas Guests". The Beach is beautiful and the water is warm. It is a quick walk down the beach or road to the restaurants for dinner. There is a Captiva Trolley service that runs until 10 pm and leaves from outside the South Seas Gate. We recommend Mucky Duck, for sunset cocktails, Key Lime Bistro, Sunshine Café & RC otter. The screened balcony looks out on the beach and is the perfect spot for a quiet morning coffee or sunset cocktail.

The Kitchen provided all the necessary equipment to make our daily breakfast & lunch. We brought our own lunch bags but zip locks are provided. Bed is comfortable, but the beautiful white comforter in the photo has been replaced. The shower area is well appointed but Very small. Only 2 beach & bath towels are provided per guest. The Living area is in need of an upgrade. We stayed after the prior guest that stained the chair and the orange stain remains.

Owner's Response: glad you enjoyed your stay. Just a few comments correct no daily cleaning included but you can add that on for a fee. Also the white comforter just did not work in a rental unit was too difficult to keep clean I think I purchased 10 in one year. The tommy chairs I get many complements on easy to carry to the beach. Now one other correction about amenities you get the same three condo pools everyone does if you book in the beach villas chairs are provided at the pools and so are gas grills. At the pool you can use any chairs or tables. Also the Doc Fords restaurant INSIDE the resort you CAN eat at and pay with credit card or cash. So just wanted to be sure this was clear the guest may have not tried to eat at doc fords but you ARE able to do that. But I agree so many choices outside the resort well within walking distance. Or take the trolley outside the resort. As far as the recliner chair yes someone stained it the last guest and this guest arrived the same day as the departure so I was not able to have the steam cleaner come in. it is a small orange stain and was removed by the steamer company. This is the second time this month I have had to have the steamer company come and clean the chair due to the guests getting something orange on it maybe soda or suntan lotion that is tinted. Not sure exactly.

In need of an update

The view was nice and the kitchen area was nice. The bathroom was OK. The living room area needs a serious update. The lounger chair upholstery was disgusting - worn out, dirty and stained. We didn't even want to touch it let alone sit in it! The sofas were a little better but based on the chair we through sheets over the sofas before we sat on them which we limited as much as possible. We didn't realize there was no window in the bedroom so no opportunity to listen to the ocean or nature sounds. We would not stay in this condo again.

Owner's Response: The condo faces the Gulf and sunsets from the screened in patio and living room area. No where in the description did it state the bedroom faced the gulf. It does have a window but not facing the gulf. There is also a brand new shower glass door in the unit so I am not sure why they stated the bathroom was only "OK?" It has a sink vanity area in one part of the bathroom and then behind another door there is a tub/shower combo with a toilet. All lighting is in ceiling and newly renovated. The toilet is also only one year old. I was actually here for the departure of this guest and the concierge also noted orange tinted sunscreen stains on the chair and couch. I charged the guest a modest $75 for the stain removal by a local carpet steamer place. I did not hear at all from the guest during the stay and if I walked into a place with orange tinted sunscreen like that on the couch and chairs I would have reported it so in my opinion the guest caused the damages and is leaving a poor review since I charged their security deposit $75. So sad.that guests seem to leave poor reviews when I charge against a security deposit. Please take a look at all the other great reviews. If this was really the case other reviews would not be so good

The location and view of this condo was perfect for me

I so much enjoyed being able to walk to the beach and to sit on the patio and see the water. I was by myself son I didn't experience any of the restaurants but plan to come back someday so I can!

The absolute BEST shelling in the world. You can walk for a VERY long way on the beach. The resort is gated and guests not staying on the resort are not allowed on the property.
