Property Lines - This property is almost 200 feet wide, which is quite large by Glen Lake standards and is marked on both sides at the tree line with pine stakes. Our property does not include a raft. Please do not use our neighbor’s property or rafts. Feel free to reach out to Crystal River Outfitters for kayak and canoe rentals.
Garage - Is strictly off limits to guests
Absolutely no boat or jet ski access. Owners have cameras on the docks. No temporary moorings allowed. Absolutely no boats tied to docks.
We have a kayak and canoe available for you to use. Please make sure to bring up on the beach when not in use. Do not tie to the dock.
Plumbing - This house runs on a septic system. It is important to the health of this system that NOTHING OTHER THAN TOILET PAPER is flushed down toilets. Flushed hygiene products, wipes and even tissues can result in the system backing up into the house. In addition, please do not use bleach if you do laundry. Bleach is harmful to the natural bacteria that makes septic work.
HVAC - We recommend closing the blinds on hot days to keep the house more comfortable. Especially on the big picture windows. Sometimes in the downstairs bedrooms, the excessive heat and humidity can cause that floor to sweat. If you feel any moisture on that floor, please run the AC to bring the humidity down and it should dry up.
Wi-Fi/TV’s - Wifi information is on the fridge. All TV’s are either smart or equipped with a Roku streaming stick. YouTube TV is provided.
Trash - A trash compactor is located just to the right of the sink. Just step down on the foot pedal to open. It is very noisy if/when you compact it, but it is very effective. There are two trash containers outside. Wednesday is trash day. Please roll trash out for pickup on Tuesday night. If you would like to collect recycling, it needs to be dropped off at the Leelanau School recycling station, conveniently located right next to town. A recycling drop off is your responsibility and will not be handled by the rental agency after you leave.
Food, Kitchen, Cooking - The grill on the deck is available for your use. Please make sure the propane tanks get turned off after each use (turn the handles on the tank to the right until it stops) to conserve propane for your next outing. Grilling tools are in the kitchen. Small appliances are there for your use as well and are located throughout the kitchen as well as in the pantry in the front hall.
Lake Info - It can be very windy on Glen Lake, which is why we don’t allow boats to be secured to the dock - especially overnight. If you use the canoe or kayak please make sure they are fully pulled on the shores so the wind and waves don’t blow them away. Due to winds please do not take any deck furniture out to the end of the dock and use the bench bench that is there instead. Please always stay off the boats in the lifts.
Brooks Lake - Our property includes the wooded lots across the street from the main house. This gives you direct access to Brooks Lake. The canoe cane be used over there to fish or look for snapping turtles on Brooks. Please refrain from climbing on, or throwing rocks, around the bridge where the main road is. Those rocks are critical part of the bridge’s structure.
Fireplace and Outdoor Pit - All are in good working order. The three stacks of firewood on the north side of the house are available to you to use. Please remember to open the flues before lighting a fire indoors and replace any wood you use indoors to the next occupants have dry wood.
