We are Bill and Carlene. We learned to ski in Colorado shortly after we were married. We live in the East, but we ski in the West because we love the soft powder snow of the West as opposed to the frequently icy conditions of the East. We have 2 adult daughters who have been skiing during every spring break since they were 3. Skiing has been a favorite family vacation for us for years. We have skied all over the US and even in Canada and Europe, but think Colorado is the Best in terms of weather and predictability of snow conditions for spring skiing and of course ambiance. The scenery, the Rockies, the environment, the towns, and the people are stunning and unforgettable.
The Owner purchased this condo in 2008
Our older daughter went to CU Boulder for college and introduced us to Breckenridge (previously we would go to Aspen/Snowmass, or Vail/Beaver Creek, or Steamboat Springs, or Copper, or Crested Butte). She has skied all over the West and felt that Breckenridge was perfect for us because it is a short drive from the Denver airport (so you can fly in in the morning and be on the slopes by afternoon if you like); it has the charm of a real little historic Western town, not just a resort that grew up around a ski slope; and it has a huge ski mountain with varied terrain for all levels of ability from beginner to expert for both skiers and snow boarders. The terrain parks and half pikes are especially popular. One can literally ski for a week without repeating the same run twice. The ski school is excellent. Cross country skiing, back country skiing, snow shoeing, dog sledding, ice skating, ice fishing, and all other winter sports are available nearby. For those who don't want to ski there is a nearby outlet mall, plus great shops, galleries, and restaurants in town and even a walking tour of the historic part of Breckenridge. And of course there is a Spa and great workout facilities at the Grand Lodge. Additionally, in easy driving distance for day skiing is Keystone, A-Basin, Arapahoe, Vail and Beaver Creek. In short, she didn't think we would ever be bored. AND she was RIGHT! We never seem to be able to fit it all in.
In our view, the Grand Lodge on Peak 7 is the Best of the Best. We already owned in Breckenridge when we heard about the Lodge before it was built. When we saw the plan and the location, we knew this would be THE perfect location in Breckenridge. Ski in ski out doesn't get better than this and that was important to me.No amenity has been overlooked. The Lodge is self-contained. There is plenty to do for skiers and non skiers and for people of all ages. Literally one could stay at the Lodge for a week and never have to leave at all. We want to be able to share the joy of skiing and outdoor winter sports with our children and grandchildren as a family group in the future. Some of our fondest memories are of ski trips as a family when we were able to spend quality time together and reconnect with those closest to us in an active setting.
