About The Owner

I am an architect and grew up near the mountains in Argentina and my husband was born in Colorado. We love the outdoors: skiing, mountain biking, trail running, etc and are ecstatic that Big Bear, Southern California's only four-season resort, is so close and accessible to our home. We love Big Bear because in just a few hours we can be in a completely different environment, and it is the perfect place to take short vacations with our young son while still being close to home.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2011

Why The Owner chose Moonridge

Since we moved to Southern California six years ago, we kept returning to Big Bear, and finally -- after looking for a long time for the perfect cabin within walking distance to the ski lifts and close enough to ride directly out on great mountain biking trails -- we bought this cabin. We purchased it so our family and guests would have a great place to relax, ski, mountain bike, golf and build memories that will last forever. Big Bear Lake is perfect for a weekend getaway, family vacation or friends get together. We love that our guests treat our home as if it were theirs. We hope that you will enjoy leaving your stress behind as much as we do!

What makes this cabin unique

We love that this cabin is rustic, but luxurious and that it is just 250 yards from the ski lifts and the golf course. This for us was the key!

Great location!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I went to Big Bear before Christmas vacation to do a little snowboarding and loved the location of this cabin. We were all able to walk to and from the Big Bear Resort without the need to park or unpack our gear. I love that the zoo is so close as well! The cabin was nicely stocked, had a great heater and fireplace and awesome entertainment (shuffleboard, ping pong table, etc) that kept us all warm and entertained. I highly recommend this cabin, we loved it!

Perfect location! Cozy, spacious home!

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful home has everything you want/need for a relaxing stay! Walking distance to the Alpine Zoo and ski resort! We had 2 families (6 kids) and had the most relaxing time. The great room upstairs has a huge, beautiful fireplace and a large dining table. Plenty of games, movies and a Wii. The washer/dryer came in handy as our kids played outside in the snow 85% of the time! Big Bear Lake is a short drive from the home, too. The owners were so nice and communicated in an extremely fast fashion. It's obvious they have put a lot of time, money and thought into this home-we felt spoiled! We will DEFINITELY stay here again!

Can't ask for a Better Cabin in a Better Location!

  • 5 of 5

We were a large group of 10 on an outdoor adventure trip. The location could not have been better. We accessed wonderful mountain bike trails directly from the cabin, we walked to the golf course, we walked to Bear Mountain and we only had a short 5 minute drive to the lake for fishing and jet skiing. I was worried about how tight the cabin would be with 10 people, but the way it is designed with a huge open area family room, with a massive stone fireplace, connected to the kitchen and balcony, allowed all of us to congregate together very comfortably. People could cook while others played ping pong, shuffle board, some sort of Argentinian game, video games, board games, etc... In fact, one of the highlights of our trip was the shuffle board tournaments that we all enjoyed. The owners, Stephen and Carola, could not have been more gracious. They clearly spent a great deal of time taking care of every detail so our stay would be comfortable. There is a nice combination of large beds and bunk beds for kids. The master bedroom is on the top floor while the other bedrooms are on the first floor which provides for a nice separation if you have a snorer in the group! I will definitely be coming back to this cabin.

Perfect Big Bear Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin sits in a sweet spot at the base of the ski slopes. Its a 5 min drive into town and near everything you would need, but far enough that you have quiet and serene views from the balcony. It is equipped with everything you need, fully stocked kitchen, games, books, shuffleboard, ping-pong table in the garage. The bedrooms are large and the beds are super comfy! We had a moms' and kids' weekend and it fit 3 moms and 6 kids more than comfortably! The kids had more than enough room to play in the fantastic living space with the all the incredible games provided! Everything was spotless and the owners answered all our questions & needs! I highly recommend this fantastic home to anyone with children or any large group! We hope to make a yearly tradition of going!! Thank you Stephen for providing such a great experience for all of us!

Owners are very friendly and responsive

  • 3 of 5

Overall we were underwhelmed with our stay. The owners were really great and I appreciate that they were very responsive. But the kitchen supplies were old and cheap. The pots and pans were old and scratched. Most of it felt leftover from college days.

Unfortunately my husband and I had to share the bunk room. The bottom mattress is awful. It was so terrible that I actually couldn't sleep on it (and I am the type of person who can sleep anywhere and camps frequently). With all the other beds taken I had to share the twin pullout bed with one of my kids. It was slightly better than the bottom bunk bed. The tile floor on the first level was coming up from the floor and made a ton of noise. Lastly, they supplied the house with one ply toilet paper. Otherwise the house seemed okay. We liked that the family room was big and wide open. The drive was very short to snow summit.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. Our goal is to offer a luxury ski lodge experience with high end, top quality amenities. We are sorry that you found pots and pans with scratches, and that you were not satisfied with the toilet paper. We will speak to our cleaning team about this and immediately replace anything that needs it. Our cleaning team is excellent and responsive. Regarding the children's bunk bed, we understand a twin kids' bunk bed may not be appropriate for all adults. Many adult guests and our own family have slept comfortably in the bunk beds, but for those desiring more comfort, we recommend the luxury king and queen beds in the other rooms. We do strive to provide a fully equipped, updated kitchen with many new amenities (i.e. waffle and smoothie makers, high-end blender, food processor, 12-cup Cuisinart coffee maker, new filtered water stainless steel refrigerator, etc). Lastly, while most of the house is either hardwood flooring or carpeting in the bedrooms (as seen in the pictures), we did replace the few chipped tiles in the entrance hallway. Thank you for your suggestions. These help us to maintain our high standards that we strive to provide all our guests. - Carola & Steve
