Irie House (Irie means 'the state of well being' in Jamaican) is ideally situated on upper 4 O'clock Road just across from 4 O'clock Run (4 O'clock meaning the time the tows close...better begin skiing down!). Ideally situated means that (1) it's close to all the mountain sports - winter and summer, ie, ski-in/out, bike-in/out and/or hike-in/out; and (2) is only a short walk to town.

While the frontage of Irie House is a rustic mountain cabin, which is attractive in itself, it hides a 4200 square feet, comfortable/cozy 5 bedroom home which can sleep 10 in two living areas. After entering the spacious living area, guests usually walk straight out to the huge deck for a panoramic view of the town and Baldy Mountain. Then they find the kitchen/dining area and the master bedroom both facing out on the deck. Upon further exploring, one finds the second living area downstairs with kitchen, bath, 2 bedrooms, fireplace, TV and a pool table - perfect for the kids while the parents are upstairs relaxing. Off the second floor balcony are two more bedrooms and a loft, plus a place to work for those who can't get away (the house has total wireless).

Previous renters will be pleasantly surprised in that the living room and downstairs furniture have been totally updated, windows overlooking the deck and town have been replaced and the upstairs bathroom has been redone. Since the hot tub had become pretty tired, it too has been replaced with a modern four jet-pack Billfrog Spa along with deck reinforcements to hold it.

Thus, after those long, 'hard' days of skiing, biking, hiking and/or just shopping, one can come home to a place like home. But, the best spot is the new Bullfrog Spa on the deck overlooking the town and the mountains - fantastic when it's snowing and especially at night when the moon is up. Then everyone realizes that they are truly in 'a state of well being'!

Having had a condo on lower Four O'clock Rd. for several years, once the house came on the market, we felt it was a perfect place to retire. Little did we know we could/would also share the attractions of our Colorado home with others.

What makes this house unique

Every guest will name them...great skiing, biking, hiking, exploring, reading on the deck, enjoying the hot tub day and night, ie, just feeling at home w/o the worries of home.

Great location, accommodating owner, spacious house

This house has a ton of space and beds, and is located right across the street from 4 oclock run. Great location and beautiful views. For a large group you can't go wrong with the Irie House!

Plenty of room. First week of 2018.

The house was great. We had plenty of room for 10 people. The kitchen was big enough to make meals for a large crew and was well equipped. A large pot (10-12 qt.) with a heavy bottom to make chili's, etc. would be nice. We've never found one in a kitchen we've rented though, so we bring our own.

The layout of the house certainly worked for us. The Master bedroom suite is on the main floor along with the kitchen, great room, dining room and a 1/2 guest bath.

Upstairs had a bathroom, a bedroom with a queen, a bedroom with 2 twins and a double bed in a loft area. The loft is accessed by a ships ladder that

Down stairs is a large rec. room, bedroom with a queen bed, bathroom and a separate area with 2 twin beds. The separate area has pocket doors to close it off and it works as a bedroom. The rec. room has a pool table.

Access to the 4 O'Clock ski run is right across the street from the house. At the beginning of the day, you walk from the house to the run. The walk is about 90' from the house to the run. At the end of the day, you can ski to the street. If it has snowed enough, you could ski across the street to the house.

The hot tub and deck are great. Although a photo shows the deck and deck chairs covered in snow, it wasn't when we were there this year. We would have used chairs on the deck, but there weren't any available. We had some nice sunny times before and after the slopes closed that would make the deck attractive if there was a place to sit.

We saw a moose a couple times on 4 O'Clock run. Our stay in Breck was enjoyed by all and we look forward to next season.

Great Family House

My family enjoyed a fabulous ski weekend and family time together at Irie House. Last Saturday after skiing we all sat on the large living room couch and enjoyed watching the Eagles win! We enjoyed the hot tub and the pool table as well. It was a great way for us to come together, yet be spread out. The house was comfortable and convenient. Thank you for your hospitality.

Sweet place, real ski in/out

Great place. Ski on/off is legit. Not updated but very nice and comfy. Lots of common areas. We are planning to book again next year.

Great house for group!

This house is perfect ski in and ski out location. Walkable to town and the view is outstanding. The house accommodated 11 of us with sleeping room to spare. We were comfortable from the moment we walked in and it really feels like home. We hope to return someday.

Gentle downhill skiing for all ages steps across 4 O'clock Rd. on 4 O'clock Run (best way to learn to ski), many mountain walking/hiking/biking trails close by, 18 hole golf course-summer, Nordic skiing-winter just out of town, Nordic skiing also close by, great trout fishing in or out of town, fresh natural/organic deli at Amazing Grace for tourists and townies across from County Courthouse!
