The Experience

Just like home

We absolutely loved our stay here! The location was quiet with beautiful views, and the home was stocked with everything we needed. Our kids especially loved having the private pool — it made everything so convenient and relaxing.As previous residents of Maui, this stay truly felt like being back home again. The Island Gourmet Market nearby was such a bonus, with plenty of great food options and groceries right at our fingertips.Teri is an amazing host! She kept in touch throughout our stay, providing us with important information and making sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend this place for anyone wanting comfort, convenience, and that warm Maui feeling.

The County of Maui requires that the owner live on property. Most guests are not bothered by that fact as they rarely see me, and I am here in case anything goes amiss or if they need some assistance rather than properties where no one is around and things go wrong and you can't get help. Communication is key, and I think we got off to a wrong start when you did not communicate before your arrival to me that you have two mentally challanged very active young boys. In the future it would be great to know by any owner so we can have the opportunity to remove fragile or valuable antiques etc. I was around a little more as I wanted to be available in case you needed help of any kind. Regardless, I believe you all had a very good time, or at least that is what you said and said also that you would return. The boys hugged me with tears in their eyes, saying they would miss me too and my heart broke open even further. I think this 3 star rating is a low but that is how some people respond to a place that is not the Four Seasons. This week, the new indoor/outdoor carpeting will be installed and I am excited for this long overdue upgrade too. Mahalo for your taking the time out of your very busy schedule to write this review. Beautiful Location!

Our family loves our stay. Close to the best beach, the home is surrounded by fruit trees and gorgeous flowering plants. The pool was amazing as well. This house has everything you need and more.

Beautiful relaxing stay

We enjoyed our stay, loved the pool and the view. House is very well equipped, had everything we needed during our stay. Great location to stay in or go shopping. We spent most of our time relaxing in and by the pool, but ventured out a few days as well, drives were reasonable time away. Teri was helpful, we enjoyed visiting with her. Lovely week, would have loved to stay longer, or make a return trip.

Anniversary and Birthday Trip

We have been to Maui a few times and this is our favorite place to stay. So peaceful and quiet, which is what we wanted. We just wanted to relax and decompress from everything and this is the perfect place to do it at. Teri was an awesome host and so very sweet. We will be back.

Great way to end the year

Stay was great and the perfect way for my wife and in-laws to spend the last two weeks of 2023. The house has two comfortable bedrooms and the grounds are beautiful. The owner keeps a birdfeeder stocked up and the birds are beautiful and wonderful to listen to while soaking up paradise. Location is great to get to great beaches and Kihei or Wailea.

Wonderful week

My family of 5 had a wonderful stay at MauiJoy. We really enjoyed the grounds, including the pool, the beautiful flowers, fruit trees, and plants, lizards, etc. The home had everything we needed and then some. The beds were comfortable, and the A/C units worked well to keep us cool at night. We loved the quiet location away from the busy tourist areas but close enough that a short drive took us to the beaches, restaurants, and shops.

My husband and I stayed in this home for a week in June, 2025. We were astounded at the beauty of the gardens with endless flowers. We spent most of our time on the patio admiring the view of ocean below and the gardens. The bed was extremely comfortable. There are two large bedrooms and two bathrooms. The house was actually more spacious than what we anticipated from the photos. Communication with the owner and housekeeper was flawless. Some of the nicest resorts on Maui are down the hill including Grand Wailea, Four Seasons, and The Fairmont. We ate at Nobu at the Grand Wailea and loved it. Pricey but amazing. We super enjoyed the Te Au Moana Luau at the Marriott. A fantastic cultural experience!

"Heaven on Earth" Indeed!

Perfect spot for our whole family of six! SO glad that we decided to stay here instead of trying to squeeze into a resort room. The views were OUT OF THIS WORLD! The pictures do not do it justice. Little Slice of Heaven

We just returned from a 2 week stay at Maui Joy. The property was BEAUTIFUL. We were specifically looking for a little seclusion and privacy, but everything we wanted or needed was close by, so it was a great location. Teri was always there when we needed anything and very quick to respond, before and during our trip. A big thank you to Teri for sharing your beautiful home with us! We truly had a great time and couldn’t have asked for more to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary!

Maui Joy finally!

After 2 Covid-19 reschedules, we finally got to Maui Joy. What a place! Great accommodations, great views, fresh cut bananas, and a special landlord Teri! We thoroughly enjoyed our week of pool, sun, and excursions. Teri was very knowledgeable of the area and provided good information on where to go for groceries, restaurants, shopping, and sightseeing. We truly enjoyed the week and would definitely return to Maui Joy for another vacation.

60th Birthday Celebration

This was the perfect spot to celebrate 60 years on this planet. Comfortable beds, air conditioning, well stocked kitchen, and our own pool! It doesn't get much better than that. The host lives on the property, per law, so she's available, if needed. There is a wonderful view, lots of beautiful birds, and cute little geckos! We can't wait to come back again.

Amazing Stay Above Wailea

Stayed here with my family of 4. Could not be happier! Loved having our own pool to play in day or night, the jacuzzi tub, the multitude of birds and lizards that kept everyone entertained, the fresh bananas and mangoes, grill, games, the list goes on and on. Once settled we rarely had to travel out, except to collect groceries and go on little day trips. Big beach is only a short drive away and local snorkeling is awesome. When we’re back on Maui, we’ll be sure to return to Maui Joy!!

What an amazing vacation we had! Our family loves Maui and to find such a special hidden Gem of a home to enjoy while we were there was so special. The home is so relaxing, clean and has everything you will need for your stay. The pool and very was absolutely what we were looking for. My teens prefer having the pool to ourselves and being able to relax. The flowers, gardens, trees and birds really helped you enjoy the tropical surroundings. Aptly named - MauJoy! We'll be back.

This was our fifth time in Maui and we wanted to try something new and different than a condo complex.What a great decision and wonderful time at the MauiJOY.! So relaxing to have our own lovely pool and lanai and the wide open views. The hospitality was great and Teri was always helpful and fun to be with. Stunning luxury in the Aloha Way

What a magical spot! I have stayed in Maui Meadows many times and this was by far my best experience! Teri has created a true Hawaiian experience with all the beauty you would hope to find living on Maui. The views are amazing, the home is comfortable and clean and easy to move right into! Fruit trees everywhere, gorgeous love birds singing to you daily and the pool is perfect.It over looks the Pacific with full views of Molokini and Kahoolawe with the magnificent Haleakala in the background! Amazing Romantic Getaway

Two things make this property amazing: the view and the communication with the Owner. While we understand from other reviews that families like this property too we must say that as a newly married couple seeking some alone time this was a magnificent stay. The pool overlooks a private backyard and there are no neighbors on either side who have visibility into the property - so it is like you are on your own little island on an island. The grounds are beautiful and private. There is A/C which is great for the warm afternoons and a fully stocked kitchen with all tools needed. We will gladly stay here again.

I didn't even hear your music at the pool and you had your own speaker too! Glad you enjoyed the privacy. I too love it that no one can really see into the property as the Arica palms and banana trees hide the pool area from the uphill neighbors. Happy to have had fresh bananas and tangerines right off the tree for you while you were here. Mahalo also for the addition to the chair and beach umbrella collection. Perfect House in Paradise

This was a perfect house for our family. The outside lanai area is stunning- the gardens are beautiful and full of fruit bearing trees (best bananas ever), the pool and surrounding patio is the best place to relax, enjoy and listen to the birds. The house layout was great for each of our teens to have their own space but great shared area as well for dinner, TV time etc. Teri is a fabulous host! She was incredibly accommodating of our delayed schedule, willingness to accept packages ahead of time and provision of general knowledge about the island and her home. Beaches are not quite walkable but easy drive/park to beautiful locations. We would stay again 100X over and will recomend to anyone traveling to Maui.

Best vacation house we have ever had!!

Mauijoy was absolutely amazing!! We would recommend this place to our closes family and friends and to anyone who is looking for a peaceful place to be with family. This place beats any hotel and resort by a landslide and we are so happy that we chose this over anything else. If you are looking for a place to be with your family, private swimming pool, nature at your doorstep, various Hawaiian fruit trees, and being close to beaches, then this is the place you should be at. The drive to the beach was about 5 minutes away. So convenient. Terri was also a very nice host and easily approachable. She gave us tips on where to visit that only the locals know about. This turned out to be one of our best family vacations mainly because of this MauiJoy villa! We will definitely be returning!

Your boys are such a delight as their inquisitive nature kept them occupied. I marveled at their patience in waiting to take just the right photo of the birds. I am MauiJOY because I have lived on Maui (over 30 years!) and have been called 'JOY' in many of the Happiness classes I have taken. I am MauiJOY on backgammon sites as it is one of my favorite games to play.
I am the owner and State of Hawaii licensed broker of my own small company in real estate called, International Real Estate Services, LLC.
Traveling on my own, I have gone around the world visiting many places including Japan, Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, India, (Burma), Nepal, Myanmar, Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, South America, Europe and South America. So much to see and do yet Maui is my home sweet home and I would love to share it with you.

Why they chose this property

I purchased this home in 1994 because it is very private (few neighbors), and it's spectacular ocean views and location away from everything yet close enough to get to it all including the Wailea resorts, golf, restaurants, shopping and the best beaches in the world in less than 5 minutes by car. (We are up a hill so that is why I say "car".) Too steep after being at the beach! LOL

The views are probably the best in the area as the location is on the edge of the Maui Meadows neighborhood with thousands of acres of vacant land adjacent to the lower gardens.
It's quiet, with peaceful tranquility and a place to truly relax and let go. Maui County noise ordinances are very strict. No noise after 9PM to 8AM.

What makes this property unique

This is a VERY PRIVATE ESTATE because we have few full time neighbors. There are thousands of undeveloped acres to the south and second homes surround us. We recently added a beautiful large outdoor shower beneath the banana trees
Clothing Optional areas.

Would you like to pamper yourselves with a private chef, massages poolside, aromatherapy, 10-day detoxing, private consierge services? Just let me know.

Happy to arrange for a private boat (whale watch), concert tickets and will do our best to help to create the vacation you have painted in your mind and heart.

You may not want to leave the MauiJOY Villa as the large swimming pool overlooks the vast ocean from the West Maui Mountains, across to the island of Lana'i, Molokini Crater, Kahoolawe and up to Haleakala.
The lower gardens have quiet places for you to meditate, exercise and yes, we have a Pavillion where you can enjoy a romantic dinner or just a nice snooze in the afternoon.
There are few street lights in this area providing the most amazing views of the vast night sky. We have a green uplight just above the driveway so you will know where to pull in at night.
The views of the Milky Way are brilliant! I use "Sky Guide" app as we can see and learn so much about our universe. I also have a telescope!
The full moon reflecting in the pool provides romantic lighting while the fragrant flowers fill the air with their perfume. Yes, this is paradise and it can be yours.
