Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 14)

Enjoy our 3 bedroom, 2 full bath single story modular home for weekly rent situated in Southern Maine. We have everything you could wish for in a Maine vacation! We are just over the border from New Hampshire and only 90 mins from Boston. Come live the dream of a perfect Maine vacation! Lovely heated/ air-conditioned lakefront cottage nestled under towering pine trees and Maple trees with 100 feet of shallow water access frontage and private dock on gorgeous Estes Lake in Sanford, Maine.Located just minutes from the bustling seaside towns of Wells, Ogunquit and Kennebunkport, Estes Lake is one of the few lakes left in Southern Maine that is still quiet, but less than ten minutes to all the amenities and less than twenty minutes to the beaches. For those shopping enthusiasts, the Kittery Outlets are a half-hour drive, Kennebunk a fifteen-minute drive, and exciting Portland with all its big city attractions, a forty-minute drive. If you're looking to stock the refrigerator or grab a bite to eat, downtown Sanford is less than ten minutes away with a dine-in movie theater, two large grocery stores, a Wal-Mart, the famous Shains of Maine ice-cream, a bakery, numerous restaurants, and the lovely Sanford Country Club where you can play nine holes of golf! We even have a small airport where you can take flying lessons or just watch the planes land while you enjoy a hearty Maine breakfast.

Kayak or canoe down the Mousam River that feeds into Estes Lake, sight blue heron and other wildlife, swim in the clean warm lake waters off your private dock, fly-fish for lake trout or just kick back on the porch overlooking the lake while lobsters steam on your large outdoor gas grill.

This is the best of both worlds, with great ocean beaches 15 minutes away. But why would you ever want to leave your own private paradise! Estes Lake is a quiet finger lake, with lovely secluded coves, a winding shoreline that goes on for miles, a state forest bordering its shoreline, and best off all--low boat traffic. Unlike the frigid Maine ocean temperatures, Estes Lake water is clean and known to be in the low 80's during July, August, and September--70's in June. If you like to swim, you'll never want to get out of the water!

A Great Place to Make Memories!

  • 4 of 5

Our family had a wonderful time here, kayaking, trying to catch fish, wading in the lake, relaxing in the hammock, eating picnics by the fire pit, playing with games & toys in the house, and more... The weather was perfect during our stay--warm during the day and cool at night. Just about everything we needed was available, the kitchen was well-stocked, and the location is close to town. We stayed here most of the time except for a visit to Dairy Queen, and spending a day at Parson's Beach. One disappointment was that we weren't expecting any pets to have been in the house, so we were very thankful for the newly installed carpet!

Family of 5 with young children

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time at the Wilson lake house during the 4th of July week! We could not have asked for more, in terms of comfortable accommodations, supplies both in the house and for the lake, and location. Although we thought we'd do more exploring in the local area, we only ventured out twice. Once, to go to Ogunquit Beach for the day and, on our only rainy day, to explore Freeport and the LLBean flagship store. We had no need to go anywhere else! The lake offered everything we were looking for in our vacation: relaxation, simplicity, and an easy-going atmosphere. We made great use of both the adult and children's kayaks, as well as the fishing poles, life vests, noodles, and floaty toys! This is a perfect place for a family with young children to stay. Having the private dock was great but even better, was knowing that the house was right there to run back to for potty breaks, lunches, and naps. That is priceless for a family with young children :-)

The pictures of the house were very accurate and the house was nice and clean when we arrived. The owner was very easy to get in contact with and was extremely responsive with any questions we had both before and during our vacation.

Simply put: we had the exact vacation we were hoping for when we booked this week at the lake house. We will definitely be returning for a week next summer. Thank you!

A great week at the lake

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic week! The house is exactly as described - plenty of space and the kitchen was very well equipped. We saw more fish than people! So relaxing, peaceful and quiet - we didn't want to go home! Our 2 boys almost never got out of the lake. Can't wait to go again next summer!!

Memorial Weekend Warriors

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent time at the Wilson cottage! Before arriving, the owners were very helpful and accommadating, answered all questions, and sent a welcome packet including directions and points of interest. Upon arrival, we found the house to be very welcoming and clean. The kitchen was well stocked with most everything you could need, including a crock pot and griddle. The outdoor gas grill was great. The dishwasher was a huge plus! We had a group of 8 adults and were comfortable. There was plenty of room inside and outside to enjoy. The screened porch is a great refuge from the sun and bugs. We spent the majority of our time on the dock and lake. The canoe and kayaks allowed us to explore the lake and the islands. We would have been content to spend our entire time at the house but took a drive to near-by Kennebunkport and did some shopping in Freeport. It's the perfect location.

We can't wait to go back!
