Miles of beach was saved from development by the Noble family through the Watervale Inn. We only rent by the week in July and August.

We are 1/4 mile from the paved road, very quiet and peaceful. Cabin has a screened in porch, fireplace, full kitchen but no dishwasher, 3 bedrooms, 2 queens and twin bunkbeds. Original and refinished tongue and groove pine walls, big fireplace, amazing views. Satellite and Netflix TV, Wifi, firewood, two kayaks and a canoe included plus a propane grill.

Watch postcard perfect sunsets over either lake. We are 6 miles south of Frankfort, 5 miles north of Arcadia.

Herring Lake connects to Lake Michigan via a shallow, sandy stream directly across the lake.

Amenities: All linens provided, canoe, 2 kayaks, life jackets, paddles, full kitchen, gas stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, satellite TV, Netflix WIFI, DVD/VCR player, beach chairs, water softener, firewood for beach fires on Lake Michigan, propane grill, 50 kid DVDs and grown up movies, games, deck table with 4 chairs.

Miles and miles of rails to trails bike paths in the area, running between Elberta, Frankfort, Beulah and Thompsonville. SUP, pontoon boat, speed boat and sailboat rental available right on the lake, delivered to your beach.

I'll send a detailed list of things to do, complete with golfing, fishing, shopping, water skiing, sailing, kayaking, hiking, biking, pick-your-own strawberries and cherries, flying tours, Indian casino's, restaurants, sights, movies etc.

Fantastic lake and sunset views

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed a perfect week at The Cabin on Lower Herring Lake, loved using the kayaks and canoes, launching right from the beach. It's fun to kayak straight across the lake to the outlet and swim in Lake Michigan. Can't beat the views of the sunset from the huge cabin window. Our granddaughters loved the bunk beds, firepit and the dock.

As advertised...

  • 4 of 5

Great location, very accomodating owners, the four stars was simply due to the musty cabin smell. But then again, it's basically what you'd expect in an older waterfront cabin :)

Quiet and cozy

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our week long stay very much. I was a little disappointed when we first arrived with a few of the house "quirks' but overall the cozy little cottage grew on me and the owners were very accommodating and easy to work with. The options of beaches to use was a huge plus, our favorite being the dune across the lake. The swimming out front of the cottage was not good this year due to high Great Lakes water levels and seaweed but we had many options including the outlet and Lake Michigan. Caught some nice fish, had a bonfire nearly every night, beautiful sunsets, cute cottage and right down the road from great bike trails and beautiful Frankfort.

Owner's Response: Reached out to guest via email, the only quirk she mentioned was a slow shower drain that is now cleared. Lake Michigan and Lower Herring Lake are at 30 year peak high water levels and 20 feet of horizontal beach and much of our lawn is under water but it is still sandy. Best, Pete

I have lots of questions in trying to find the perfect lake house our vacation. Joe was always prompt and patient answering all my questions through both email and over the phone. I highly recommend working with him.

fabulous location / Great owner

  • 5 of 5

My family has enjoyed this area of Michigan for over 50 years and our first time at this place. We loved the location having your own dock was relaxing. The Views were amazing. i will stay here again. Peter the owner is a great guy to deal with and goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you need and is open to ideas to improve his place. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here. make sure you visit the outlet....

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great vacation at this cabin. We enjoyed the beautiful sunsets, dunes, trails, fire pit, and boating all weekend! The space was perfect for our group of 8. Everything you needed was already there: firewood, kitchen utensils, linens, towels- everything but the food! Thanks for helping our family make some great memories Pete!
