Waterfront, Great View, Private Beach & Dock, Sunsets

Bedrooms 3
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6-8)

Open again April 2016. 60' of private frontage on sandy bottom Lower Herring Lake, 20' of sandy beach, gradual drop-off, private dock. New carpeting, furniture, refinished interior walls, fireplace glass doors.

We also have a house on the water 3 doors north, vrbo 370427 that sleeps 8-10. House comes with access by boat or car (parking pass) to miles of beautiful, private beach on Lake Michigan (see photos). This is pristine, undeveloped beach, which Jerry Dennis said in the June 2006 Traverse Magazine article, 'The Greatest Walkabout', 'It is surely one of the most pristine beaches in the world, broad and clean, with elaborate back dunes blending into forests'...saved from development by the Noble family. Half of the lakeshore on Lower Herring Lake is in a privately held protective easement, which means there is very little boat traffic and your view of the sunset is over pristine forest.

We are 1/4 mile from the paved road through the woods, very quiet and peaceful. Deer and wildlife sightings are frequent. Large grass lawn on the lake is perfect for games, BBQs, fires etc. Netflix TV, WIFI, and all linens provided except beach towels provided. Many other rentals are bring your own linens. We only rent by the week in July and August.

Watch postcard perfect sunsets over either lake. We are 6 miles south of Frankfort, MI, 5 miles north of Arcadia. Rails to trails bike paths close by, or pedal around Upper Herring Lake through the orchards. Canoe and rowboat included. Second lake front house also available, 3 doors down that sleeps 8-10, VRBO #370427.

Great owners, great house!

I have lots of questions in trying to find the perfect lake house our vacation. Joe was always prompt and patient answering all my questions through both email and over the phone. I highly recommend working with him.

fabulous location / Great owner

  • 5 of 5

My family has enjoyed this area of Michigan for over 50 years and our first time at this place. We loved the location having your own dock was relaxing. The Views were amazing. i will stay here again. Peter the owner is a great guy to deal with and goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you need and is open to ideas to improve his place. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here. make sure you visit the outlet....

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great vacation at this cabin. We enjoyed the beautiful sunsets, dunes, trails, fire pit, and boating all weekend! The space was perfect for our group of 8. Everything you needed was already there: firewood, kitchen utensils, linens, towels- everything but the food! Thanks for helping our family make some great memories Pete!

a 'gem' of a vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

We had a great vacation at Lower Herring Lake!!!(4 adults/4 children)The cabin was clean and cozy. The fireplace warmed us up on a chilly night and the porch was great for storing all our gear. We also appreciated that the owner supplied the bedding/ towels and a list of things to do in the area. We visited the breathtaking Sleeping Bear Dunes, biked the rail trail, watched the salmon jump a local dam, waded in the Platt River but the best place of all was at the cabin. We marveled at the sunsets, enjoyed the fire pit, gazed at the stars, fished off the pier and canoed/rowed to beautiful Lake Michigan. The owner was a pleasure to work with and he made the renting process very easy. We would definitely recommend this vacation spot and would love to come back, again!!! Oh...and we found two Petoskey stones!!!

Fantastic place to unwind in "old up North" style

  • 5 of 5

We visited with our two small children and had a perfect vacation. The cabin is beautiful, clean, and comfortable. We had a few chilly days and the fireplace and hot shower were great. The lake is crystal-clear and we enjoyed viewing the wildlife (swans, herons, painted turtles, etc.) We caught and ate a few walleye from the lake, and visited the Lake Michigan beach several times. Frankfort/Elberta was a convenient 10-minute drive, with a nice grocery store, Moomer's ice cream, and several great playgrounds for the kids. All in all, this is a great place to relax in a gorgeous natural setting.
