Ed and Natalie live in the western Chicago suburbs. Ed grew up in California, is a retired chemical engineer and enjoys golf. Natalie was Illinois-raised and loves making jewelry. We have been married for 28 years with 2 sons.
Natalie Smith purchased this condo in 2006
We fell in love with southwest Michigan the first time that we visited the area. We love it for many reasons, but feel that when we come, we get away from it all and can relax with the beach, ambiance and fun things to do in the area. One of our highlights was picking apples on a sunny October day at Big Dan's U Pick Em orchard.
It's also great to visit in the spring and fall to walk the beach, visit local restaurants, play golf and pick fruit. Restaurants here have to be good to survive. Please ask for our list of favorite attractions! Your family can enjoy a full sunset every evening while enjoying your favorite beverages and grilling.
Such a great place for 3 generations. We all enjoyed the beach, nearby attractions & the sunsets.
The 6 of us really enjoyed our stay. Very clean and had everything we needed. The bathrooms and bedrooms were great and the kitchen was well stocked. We enjoyed the beach (used the wagon) and the heated pool. It is not far from St. Joseph or South Haven.
My concerns were: the price for a "3 bedroom" and the steep walk up the hill (which was fine for us, but would have been problematic if we'd brought our parents). The "4th bedroom" was nice with 2 twin beds, however, did not have a 4th wall or any windows so I would consider this a 3 bedroom. It also had a skylight so I'm not sure who would want to sleep in this room.
We loved the view from the condo. Everything was nice and clean and very nice view from the deck. The paved road down to the beach was steep but there was a little wagon to carry things. We had to boil water a few days because of the storm but Natile had left some bottled water. It would have been nice to have water outside with hose to rinse off . The pool looked nice but we didn't use. Natalie left alot of info. on things to do. We loved the $5 fried chicken dinner in Coloma! Extra towel racks in bathroom would be nice. Great vacation. The view is spectacular! The condor was everything we hoped for and more!! We loved the wonderful deck and deck furniture! We spent many many hours enjoying the spectacular view of Lake Michigan!! The condo was spacious, clean, and we appreciated the well stocked kitchen cupboards! Having the dishes etc was very helpful as we cooked many meals here!! The beach was perfect for our family! We wished we had brought our golf cart as the hill was steep for my pregnant daughter. But the wagon you provided came in quite handy! Only thing would like to see is air conditioning in all bedrooms but main unit really cooled main floor great!! We hope to make this wonderful condo a future vacation place for us every year from now on! Can't wait to make more memories next summer!! Thanks for allowing us to enjoy your condo!!
We really enjoyed our stay at your condo. We traveled with my brother's family so a total of 4 adults and 4 children (ages 6 - 11) and the size of the Condo meet our needs. We loved having the deck, the fire pit outside and the beautiful private beach. The walk back up to the beach is not for the faint of heart but it is certainly worth it. The kitchen had everything you would need to make breakfast and quick dinners. Also was nice to have the gas grill. Plenty of dishes was also nice. The only issue we had was controlling the temperature especially in the bedrooms. The time we were there it was not very hot at all yet it was very warm in all the bedrooms except the one upstairs with the window unit. Even with the fans. The owner was very good about communicating with us and provided a lot of information about the area which was helpful. She was also very responsive when we called about the WiFi. This condo is only about 10 minutes from St Joseph's which has a very nice public beach, great dinning and shops. We were also very close to several winery's, brewery's, chocolate shops and farms that you can pick your own fruit (we picked Cherries which was a lot of fun!)
We stayed over Thanksgiving weekend with family in and out at various times over the weekend. There was more than enough room for everyone.
The views are amazing, and there is a path to a great beach.
We would recommend this unit for your next vacation. I'm sure you will enjoy your stay as much as we did ours.
