Ready for winter magic, Bears Escape Cabin is just a 10 minute drive from Gatlinburg's Winter Wonderland Festival activities with music, street performers, venders, arts and crafts, food, light displays, huge Christmas tree, and more.. Festival runs Nov-Feb.

The cabin is also within a 10 minute drive to 3 rivers great for swimming, wading, frog hunting, or just sitting on a rock relaxing. Close to the national park where there are many waterfalls some with reflective pools to swim in. If your looking for Spring and Summer Fun book Bears Escape now.

This cabin's location is prime. You will be minutes away from the attractions of Gatlinburg:

Explore great Gatlinburg attractions at one of its unique museums, craftsmen fair, miniature golf courses, water parks, motion simulators and Go-Karts or bumper cars. Check out one of the nation's best aquariums, Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies. The Gatlinburg Ripley's also features mini golf, haunted adventures, mirror maze, a moving theater, a fun zone and, of course, the famous Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum. Gatlinburg is also known for its Golf, specialty shops, restaurants, Whitewater Rafting, biking, hiking, and Canopy zip lines.

Or adventure out on one of the many amazing hikes in Smokey Mountain National Forest, here you will find true serenity.

Bear's Escape Cabin is also minutes away from Pigeon Forge:

Here you can enjoy a day at Dollywood. Or one of the many other activities found in Pigeon Forge, such as water parks, Titanic Museum, Wonder Works, Magic Quest, miniature golf, go karts, fairs, dinner theater shows, shopping outlets, and pancake houses galore.

Bears Escape Cabin is a great location to try out Dollywood — This year open the first winged roller coaster in the country. The ride, which opened in April, delivers a heart-stopping twist on regular roller-coaster seats. Seats jut out on either side of the track, so have nothing above or below them but air — giving them a real sensation of flying as they scream at more than 60 mph through four inversions and a zero-gravity roll. Of course, the 200-foot-high coaster’s cars are built to look like the national bird.

Some of our favorite hikes are:

Mingo Falls

Mingo Falls is on the Cherokee Indian Reservation (Qualla Boundary), just outside Great Smoky Mountains National Park. No special permits are required for access to the reservation. At 120 feet tall, the waterfall is one of the tallest and most spectacular in the southern Appalachians. The hike to the waterfall is only 0.4 miles in length, but is considered moderate in difficulty. Access Trail: Pigeon Creek Trail Trailhead: From Oconaluftee Visitor Center, drive south (toward Cherokee) on US-441 and take the second left onto Big Cove Road. At the first stop sign turn left and drive 4.5 miles to Mingo Falls Campground, where the trail begins.

Juney Whank Falls

Juney Whank Falls is divided into an upper and lower section. Both can be viewed from the footbridge which crosses Juney Whank Branch at the falls. Together they drop 90 feet from top to bottom. The trail to the waterfall is 0.8 miles roundtrip and is considered moderate in difficulty.

Grotto Falls

Trillium Gap Trail meanders through an old-growth hemlock forest and actually runs behind the 25 foot high waterfall. The cool, moist environment near the falls is ideal for salamanders and summer hikers. The hike is 3 miles roundtrip and considered moderate Trailhead: From the parkway in Gatlinburg, turn at traffic light #8 and follow Historic Nature Trail into Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Take Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail to stop #5 where there is a large parking area. This one is close and absolutely beautiful. I last hiked it with my 60 year old mother and 4 nieces and nephews ranging in age from 3-11 years old. We saw 3 bears at a distant, swam in the reflective pool of the falls, and had a fun-filled day without over doing it.

Reserve your stay at Bear's Escape Cabin by submitting your dates. You will then receive an email back with a quote for you to confirm and schedule payment.

Cancellations more than 30 days will be charged $50 cancellation fee.

We are Veterans who fell in love with the Smokies. This area has so much to offer that we could visit it 100 times and still not experience all that we are interested it. The beauty, the hiking, the wildlife, the attractions, the shopping, the restaurants….the fun.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2008

Guestbook comments from the manager

Very nice cabin. Close to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg & Smoky Mt. National Park, yet you are definitely away from the hustle of the towns. Cabin was very clean and well stocked. Owner in a gem. Owner replied quickly to any concerns we had and went out of her way to ensure a comfortable stay. Spring time in this area is breath taking!

Bear's Escape is a fantastic cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week in the Bear's Escape cabin. We took our 3 grandchildren & the first comment I heard from them when we opened the door was, "Wow!" The living room, kitchen & dining area on the first floor was more than ample. It was stunning! Beautiful handmade wooden tables, benches & pillows made it feel like home. The tongue & groove wooden walls, fireplace & cathedral ceiling just added to its charm.

Downstairs was a huge playroom with a pool table, an air hockey table & foosball table. These items were brand new & we all had a blast playing them. I thoroughly enjoyed the jacuzzi tub in the adjoining master BR, while my husband preferred the spacious shower in the bathroom. The kids loved the hot tub on the back deck.

There was a deck on both levels that had beautiful views of the forests that made you feel as if you were miles & miles away from civilization, but it's actually only a couple of miles from the Gatlinburg Welcome Center. That made it super convenient to hitch a ride on the trolley instead of driving in the traffic.

We had a couple of questions during our stay, so texted the owner, who responded very quickly, which I thought was outstanding. All in all, the cabin was just as it had been described & I'd go back in a heartbeat! It truly made our trip a memorable vacation & for that, I'm very grateful.

Lovely location beautiful cabin, wonderful amenities and could have been perfect if...

Pros: wonderful hideaway location w beautiful cabin to escape to with great amenities w so much potential

Cons: advertised wifi that never worked, the hot tub water was dirty, there was dirty laundry in the bedroom when we arrived, and they never had anyone pick up trash for the two weeks we were there and animals ransacked it.

Owner's Response: I am glad you enjoyed the beautiful cabin. We do have working wifi, but it is password protected. If you had trouble logging on, I wish you would of called and I would of walked you through it. I stayed there the last week of August to do computer work in peace and quiet and the wifi worked perfectly. When I spoke to you the day you checked in, I offered you a complimentary cleaning and trash pick up halfway through your stay, but never heard back from you. We have such a great cleaning crew that are so attentive and helpful. Hopefully our 2 bear-proof garbage cans worked out well. We do have a beautiful hottub that is emptied and cleaned after each guest. I hope you enjoyed that and the great ammenities this cabin has.
