The swing on the screened front porch is the place to enjoy the pelicans, dolphins, and beautiful Alabama sunsets. After one week experiencing this quiet haven, you will want to come back year after year. This peaceful spot offers calm waters for great water skiing yet lives up to its 'Breezy Point' name, providing light winds for your afternoon sail in Perdido Bay.
Secluded, yet just minutes away from Tanger Outlet Mall and all the sights and restaurants at Gulf Shores and Perdido Key, this is the perfect retreat location. Gentle waves lap over this sandy beach with no undertow to endanger your children; yet deep water is nearby for divers and more advanced swimmers, and for your boating needs. The lot includes a boat ramp.

I am a mother of five, married 35 years. I love to travel, but of all the places I have been all over the world, the place I love the most is this quiet spot in Perdido Beach Alabama. I love remembering all the wonderful times that I have spent here with family and friends ...the waterskiing and the sailing with my dad, the nightly singing on the front porch and the feasts around my great grandmother's big mahoghany table, late night discussions of life's important questions on the dock, counting falling stars, skinny dipping and sunbathing with sisters and friends, building 'turtle houses' on the beach as a kid and sandcastles with my own children, repeatedly counting cousins in the water, watching lightning storms across the bay, afternoon naps on my mother's porch swing, 'junking' at nearby shops with my sisters, walking to the old post office to retrieve the mail from box 19, and penny candy from the general store, boat parades on July 4.....54 years of kicking up the same sand down the same driveway, enjoying stunning Alabama sunsets and beautiful azaleas and hydrangeas planted by my grandmother, chasing visiting dolphins in the boat, enjoying a book on the deck...countless memorable hours at Perdido Beach with my children, my family, and my friends have made my life exceedingly rich. Blessed as I am, I couldn't figure out how to make my picture with my 84 year old Dad vertical....(thank you to the VRBO team who fixed that!)....he's a treasure, and you might be lucky enough to meet him, if you rent this wonderful property....
JulieJoyner purchased this Cottage in 1970
Why JulieJoyner chose Perdido Beach
My father vacationed with his parents in the area when he was a boy. His parents bought land and build a home adjacent to this land before I was born. I was raised spending my summers here. My sisters and I inherited this vacation home from my mother after she died.
What makes this Cottage unique
The location is ideal because although it is secluded, it is also convenient to shopping, restaurants, movies, and really anything that might be needed. Both Pensacola and Mobile are within reach. The Gulf of Mexico is just 25 minutes by car and 10 minutes by boat. The brackish water offers the benefits of a lake, warm but not too hot...salty, but not too salty. The sandy bottom is comfortable; water shoes are not even necessary. You are near civilization but it is quiet and peaceful. There's some boating activity, especially on weekends, but not too much...Just the right blend for a perfect retreat...

Awesome property and owner. Very cute and cozy place to stay
We had a amazing stay. We saw dolphins, heron, pelicans and a Blackhawk helicopter. The house was everything we needed and more. Plenty of room for our whole group and we spent a lot of time on the wonderful porch and the dock. Nice and quiet and secluded from the rat race. Just what we wanted for our stay
House Needs a lot of work, roaches
When we arrived at the house we were overwhelmed with the beauty of the property and could not believe we got to spend an entire week at a “perfect” paradise. We were quickly let down when the owner of the home told us upon arrival there was a cockroach problem inside the home. She said they had sprayed twice and they had not seen any live ones in a week or so. NO, we killed 12 LIVE cockroaches during our stay, 3 being in a bed, and found multiple dead ones. Talk about some uneasy sleeping at night time. The bathroom had black mold on the Ceiling that had been painted over and the toilet was set up on shims. So now let me get to the great part of the vacation. When you step off the sun porch you really are in paradise. We loved every aspect of the outside. We brought our boat and tied it up to the dock, caught a lot of catfish and crab, and our kids loved swimming on the private beach. Sadly, we will not return to this location only because the condition of the house. We spoke with the owner while we were there hoping to get $ back for the inconvenience and we did not even get an I’m sorry. Disappointed.
We are terribly sorry for the situation and are doing everything we can to address it. Although these guests did not speak with us concerning a refund, we had planned on sending them, and the previous guests, compensation for the inconvenience. Our home is already under the market for the value and we have never, in all our years of vacation rental, had to deal with this problem. I apologize if I did not communicate enough regret to satisfy these guests. Our home stays rented back to back, so it is difficult to get in there and do the needed repairs which are common in old houses. I hate roaches too, and would not want to spend my vacation with them, but we are doing everything within our power to remedy the problem. Thank you for the detailed list of suggested repairs. Our home is charming and interesting and our goal is to make our guests comfortable and safe. But it is clearly not a condo on the beach.
UPDATE 5/12,,NO MORE ROACHES and we were able to get in and replace the floor in the bathroom..No more shims...and hopefully, no more bad reviews! (One bad review in 10 years). And our first experience with german cockroaches as uninvited guests!
Absolutely loved the view from the back of the house! Peaceful and very breezy.
Group of 12 visited. Plenty of room for everyone. There were a few small maintenance things that needed tended to, but overall we would visit here again.
Loved this house
We had a marvelous 2 weeks at Breezy Point. The house had plenty of room for our party of 5. We had room for a few more. Everything we needed was there. The beds were very comfortable. The house was clean. The owners were next door for part of our visit. They were so friendly and hospitable. They made a small kayak, sailboat, and canoe and lifejackets available to use. We love being in the country away from the tourists and condos, but yet close enough to restaurants, the beach, and other attractions. We hope that we can return next year.
So glad ya'll had a great time. We'll look for your next year!
we love Palmetto Creek, have been coming for many years, and it's our favorite place to vacay in the
we love the Kilgores, and don't want to vacation anywhere that doesn't have a Gene Stacks!!
Family week get away. Theres no place like Home.
We just returned from our wonderful week at Breezy Point cottage on Palmetto Creek.
My sister and I grew up in the area, on near by Soldiers creek and in many ways it was like returning home for us.
We had my 9 year old granddaughter, Sammie with us and we were so grateful to share this beautiful place and our childhood memories of growing up here with her.
Having Becky, Gene, their family and Mr Kilgore next door for a large part of our stay was a wonderful addition to our fun and time spent at Breezy Point.
There is an ole saying " you can never go home again" Which I guess in theory is true, but my sister and I both felt the opposite during our stay at Breezy Point.
The beautiful views from the porch, the smells from the creek, the sounds of the afternoon passing showers, causing the rain to drip from the houses porch edges after the rain past, the laughter, and memories we shared with family and friends during our stay , and with one another. All so very familiar.
My family and I have been blessed with a second home on the coast of SC, which we love, enjoy, and have made and will continue to make wonderful memories there, but it was a tremendous blessing if just for a brief time to go back down a path which enabled us to touch base with our roots. Breezy point took us there.
A return visit will be planned. :)
Thank you Kilgore Family and much, much love to you all.
