About Gretchen Curk

We fell in love with Hilton Head 7 years ago on our first family stay. We have stayed different places on the island, but like Sea Pines the most because it is more private, beautiful bike paths, close to the Salty Dog and one of the most recognizable icons - the Lighthouse of Harbor Town! We are from Greater Cincinnati - northern KY specifically.

Gretchen Curk purchased this house in 2012

Great home for families and proximity to the beach

  • 4 of 5

We loved our vacation week! The home was perfect for two families with kids. It was also in a great location very close to the beach and Salty Dog. The trolley made it very easy to get around in Sea Pines.

SUPERB Hilton Head Island location; Beautiful home; We had the best time

  • 5 of 5

My family of 5, our 1 yr old pet dog and a separate family of 3 stayed at this house for a slightly abbreviated week (which perfectly fit our travel plans/availability) in mid-April.

Having never been to Hilton Head Island before, we weren't sure what to expect -- but the home's location within the gated confines of Sea Pines and the layout, cleanliness, style, design and simple beauty & comfort of the home made for a totally enjoyable and relaxing vacation.

The beach is a very short walk away and we enjoyed multiple walks on the beach each day, took a few bike rides on the hard-packed sand, played sports in the sand and enjoyed spotting the occasional dolphin pod swimming along the shore. The sunsets and sunrises were amazing.

About .4 of a mile further along the road is the Salty Dog Cafe which served as our easy to get to general store for the small items we might have forgotten at the Publix just outside the main gate -- and was also the perfect place to unwind with a cool drink/dinner at the end of the day. A Water Sport Rental spot is also in the same spot as the Salty Dog and one afternoon we had an enjoyable time taking wave runners into the harbor. Additionally, there are a great many tennis courts at this same spot up the road and for a reasonable fee, we rented a court and played some tennis, too.

Harbour town is a 15-20 minute bike ride away, same goes for the Sea Pines Center where we hit a small farmers market one day, and stopped by the Lowcountry Produce for some delicious doughnuts and coffees on our way out the morning we left.

The home was perfect for us. My wife & I took the master bedroom with generously spacious bathroom and walk in closet. Our boys and our (crated) dog took the rec room which had more beds than we required -- but would have been the perfect spot for a couple of extra cousins or friends of our boys -- had they tagged along. The other family who came with us placed their daughter in the one room that had two twins pushed together into a queen size; and themselves took the other bedroom with bathroom attached.

The kitchen was enormous, had multiple sinks, had enough plates and glassware of all of our needs and was a great place to play cards, sip our cups of coffee, etc.

The house has a great sized swimming pool which we opted to have heated since we weren't sure how warm it was going to be and wanted to guaranteed its use and we had a great time swimming and sunning. I highly recommend this home!

Beautiful home, great location!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our 10-day stay at 90 South Sea Pines Drive and we were very pleased with this home. We have been traveling to HHI for 5 years, and this was our first time staying in Sea Pines. Although it felt a bit removed from the busier area of Coligny, it was nice to escape to the peace and quiet. The bike trails in Sea Pines are absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed several family bike rides to Harbour Town and Lawton Stables (about 3.5 miles each). The layout of the home was perfect for our group, which consisted of my mother, my sister and brother-in-law, and my family of four (plus our 3 dogs!). The bonus room was perfect for my family - my husband and I slept in the queen bed and our kids slept in twins. Having the bedrooms on one side of the house, separated from the living area on the other side, made it very easy for everyone to have a sense of privacy and allowed us all to go about our early morning or late night activities without disturbing any sleeping members of our group. The kitchen was large and fairly well equipped, and the dining and living rooms were lovely and spacious. Our only complaint was that there was only one couch in the living room -- perhaps another couch or a sectional would be more comfortable for unwinding and watching late night television. The outside decks and pool area of the home are great. The pool depth ranges from 3 to about 5 feet, which was just perfect for my young kids, but also fine for the adults wanting to cool off after returning from a hot day at the beach. The distance to the beach is a short 10 minute walk (shorter if you don't have little ones trying to keep up!) and being able to use the Tower Beach Club entrance was very convenient. We rode our bikes there and parked them, and were able to use the showers to rinse off before returning to the house. The house is about a half-mile from South Beach Marina, which was great for visiting the Salty Dog Cafe and the various shops there. The owner was easy to contact and very helpful when we experienced issues with the air conditioning. Overall, we had a great vacation in a lovely home!
