Beautiful 1880s cottage, situated on a high bluff with 180 degree views of East Penobscot Bay, overlooking its own private beach in Dark Harbor.
Located in Mid-Coast Maine which was recently selected Lonely Planet’s Top 10 list of U.S. destinations for 2018.
The house was renovated in 2016. The property has new stairs that go down to private beach and bluff. The cottage is a knotty pine, classic Victorian with original details and wrap around deck. In addition to a newly renovated bathroom with shower, there is an outdoor shower. The living room features a cozy wood burning fireplace that easily flows into the dining room and renovated kitchen. Four bedrooms are upstairs on the second floor. The master bedroom has a beautiful private balcony overlooking the bluff--perfect for morning coffee or stargazing.
Gull Point provides complete privacy. The house is on 10 acres, at end of long driveway. (A distant log cabin on property will be vacant during your stay for your privacy). Fields of raspberries, blackberries and ferns descend to edge of bluff with trails for easy picking while enjoying island views.
The beach has nice access for swimming. It is a marvelous place for picnicking while looking out on the islands of East Penobscot Bay (Little Spruce Head and Compass directly east).
The cottage is a 20 minute walk (1.2 miles) to Pendleton Point Beach on the southern tip of the island. It is a nice spot for a barbecue or family adventures. Same distance to Dark Harbor Shop for great ice cream, frappes and sandwiches.
