Cocoon Flat purchased this apartment in 2012
The property is very well located in the center of Paris. Few meters from the Opear Garnier, Louvre Museum, the famous street 'Rue De la Paix' and a lot of others points of interest.
That is a really good location to stay and discover Paris.
Moreover, the apartment is really nice and quiet, located on the 6th floor with elevator (to the 5th floor), very bright. The flat has been renovated by an architect and furnished with signed furniture of very good quality.
The location and the decoration of the apartment are what I prefer in this apartment.
We 3 couples stayed here for a month. While certainly adequate, it seemed overpriced because of poor furniture condition, poor sink and shower drainage, nighttime noise issues, lack of kitchen basics, below-par linens, not enough keys, and surprise charges.
Pros: Well situated on a safe street in an excellent area for exploring Paris. Nicely cleaned, it was lighter and airier than expected. It was exceptionally nice that each bedroom had its own tiny bathroom. The mattresses were comfortable enough. Clothes washing machine works well (but the dryer doesn't). Excellent bakeries, restaurants, general stores and groceries close by. Bus and metro options are a 5-minute walk, and Uber worked flawlessly.
Cons: The couch is dilapidated and dirty, the stained living room rug curls up on both ends and is a tripping hazard, the arm chairs need upholstery repair. The bathrooms need major gunk cleaned out of the sinks and showers—we had a standing water problem our whole stay. The back bedroom shelving leaks--gifts we brought were ruined. At night, lighting is dim and several fixtures were missing bulbs entirely. WiFi OK in the living area only. Kitchen lacks a lot of basics including clothes drying rack, a coffee maker, can opener, colander, a reasonably sharp knife, some dishware. Towels provided were thin and below-average quality. No washcloths, mattress pads or pillow protectors, just one sheet on top mattress. Keys were not available for everyone--a serious challenge. Apt. is quite noisy @night. The back bathroom fan cannot be turned off, the hotel across the street has a very noisy air compressor, street and pedestrian noise and cigarette smoke wafts into the apartment. The mini kitchen has zero counter space.
Manager did a good job of initial meet and greet, and promptly delivered missing linens. On request they came to pour drain cleaner into the sinks and showers (didn’t help much). A day after arrival I was questioned whether or not I had paid for the apartment--a little weird. There never was any response about the bedroom shelves leaking and ruining our gifts. There were also a couple of minor surprise charges after booking including renter's insurance, an electricity bill, and extra fees for both the initial orientation and for returning the keys at the end. This last bothered me especially because it was never discussed, and they charged my credit card after returning home without informing us or permission.
We just returned from a week's stay in Paris, and enjoyed the use of this apartment. Our group included my husband and myself, my father-in-law, and our two older kids/teens. I've only seen one other apartment in Paris in my life, and this rental was spacious by comparison (like NY and other big cities, I'm sure space is at a premium!). Anyway, the rental company was super responsive and very easy to work with. They arranged for someone to meet us upon arrival and quite early in the morning for our departure - both times their contact was right on time. The location of this apartment is excellent if you want to see the sites in central Paris (many spots - the Louvre, Notre Dame, etc. can be reached on foot (brisk pace) within a half-hour). Two metro stops are also very convenient as are a range of restaurants and a couple of grocery stores. One very positive aspect of this rental - even though the building (like most of Paris) does smell a bit smoky, the apartment itself is truly smoke-free (there is an air turnover unit that must do a terrific job). This made for a great retreat at the end of the day. In addition, there are heating units in each bedroom (great since we were there in winter), and the apartment was extremely clean and in great condition. There were only a few minor downsides:
--The kitchen isn't as well stocked as many American rentals (for example, you won't find basics like spices, oils, flour, tea, etc... aside from salt), but we made do and were able to enjoy breakfast every day in the room as well as a couple of dinners. Numerous bakeries are located nearby (try Paul!).
--We were missing a couple of pillowcases and had some trouble with the TV and dishwasher. They brought the pillowcases but we could never get the appliances to work. It wasn't a big deal b/c the wireless worked well and we didn't generate too many dishes, but I think including some instructions in at least French and English would be helpful for future renters.
--You can probably tell from the photos, but the showers are not large. I doubt this is unusual in Europe, but consider whether this might be an issue if you're above sort of an average size. Not a deal-breaker, but worth considering.
All in all, these were very minor issues, and we really enjoyed the use of the apartment!
Three couples rented this, and it worked great. The renting company was great to work with. They were responsive to all my emails, they did exactly what they said they would, and when they said they would. The apartment is as advertised, as are the pictures. The person who checked us in and the person who checked us out of the apartment were both friendly and efficient. All the staff, from the support people on email to the people you meet in person have good English, which was very helpful for us. The location is stellar, easy walk to metro stations. Plenty of restaurants around. All of us would rent from this company again!
My husband and I, along with our adult children, son-in-law, and son's girlfriend spent 5 nights in this apartment in June 2013. The apartment was very comfortable, with the exception of the saggy sofa. The apartment is very well maintained, with updated fixtures in all 3 bathrooms. The building is quiet and very safe. It was a short walk to the Opera Metro as well as the Quatre Septembre Metro.
We had excellent communication with the management prior to arrival. We were able to check in at 9:30 AM, which was a big help for our flight in from the states. The representative, Kenny, who showed us the apartment, made sure we understood how everything worked, and was very clear on what was expected of us at check out.
At first we were given three sets of keys, which was very helpful since the 3 couples did not always tour together. On day two we were required to give one set of keys back. This required a bit more scheduling to make sure the couple without a key was able to get in the building. There is a code for the front door, but you need the key fob to open the second gated area.
There is a tiny elevator that stops one floor short of the apartment. It is an easy climb up to the top floor. Americans should remember that the French start counting on Floor Zero, so the apartment is actually 7 stories up.
The two bedrooms with double beds, have private bathrooms. The one bedroom with two singles has a small bedroom directly across the hall. We only had one bar of soap for the 3 bathrooms, and had to buy some extra at the grocery store. The kitchen is nicely stocked. We enjoyed the dishwasher and washing machine. There is a large refrigerator and freezer as well.
I highly recommend this apartment, especially for any group needing 3 bathrooms.
My family of 5 stayed in this beautiful apartment for six nights while we were in Paris. Overall, our experience was superb. The rental agent arranged for a private shuttle from the airport and met us at promptly at the apartment. The amenities are very nice...the bathrooms were all very clean and modern. Originally, we were looking in the Champs Elysees area, but I'm glad we decided on the Opera area where this is located. It was much more affordable, the Opera metro stop is 5 min from the apartment and there are grocery stores close by.
The apartment building and neighborhood was quiet. We had never rented apartments on trips in the past, but I was very pleased with this one.
We just came back from Paris and stayed at this wonderful apartment. 6 ladies and it was perfect in size, close to everything and the 3 bathrooms was a bonus!!! The apartment is on the top floor, easy walk up from where the elevator stop, a floor below. Close to shopping, the louvre, opera house. Very clean and safe area. Grocery stores and subway is close. Would highly recommend this apartment!!! Great value for what you get.
Perfectly located in the center of Paris, you will be able to enjoy shopping, museums ... close to your apartment or to use easily all the means of transportation to explore more of Paris.
