“What a warm and cozy cabin. The porch and view are so beautiful.”
“The cabin was awesome and the attention to detail is terrific.”
'Your home is lovely. We're well-traveled and your place is the most thoughtfully and tastefully decorated place that we've stayed.'
“Wow! What an amazingly beautiful place you have here. Walking in, we immediately felt the stress and tension leave our bodies!”
These are only a few of the many comments left by previous renters through the years. The Bird’s Nest is nestled on a quiet street only minutes away from downtown Lake Lure Beach and Marina and the quaint village of Chimney Rock. Whether sitting by the fire or rocking on the porch admiring the lovely mountain view, the charm of this cabin is undeniable. The family of hummingbirds, wild turkey, and occasionally, the deer, think so too!
This 2 bedroom 1 bath home was decorated with the desire that our guests feel comfortably welcome…and when it is time to leave, refreshed and relaxed!
The cabin has WIFI and 2 DVRs.. The upstairs master bedroom has a king size bed and the downstairs bedroom has a double bed. The cabin sleeps 4. The loveseat in the upstairs loft is a perfect place to relax and read, or you may choose to build a fire downstairs and enjoy the hearth! Wood is provided. Of course, the covered porch is always a favorite, rain or shine. There are plenty of linens and towels and the kitchen is well-stocked with dishes, pots and pans, and cooking utensils. A large Ingles grocery store is only 3 miles down the road.
So, come on in and see for yourself! We would love for you to make yourself at home and stay awhile!

I retired after a wonderful teaching career of 35 years. Having 2 children, a wonderful family and many friends, 2 dogs, and 2 cats, I have a full and fulfilling life. In retirement, I still tutor, teach released-time Bible classes to 4th and 5th graders, play golf, read, and enjoy the blessings that God has given me.
Bonnie Larson purchased this cabin in 2006
I rented this property from its owner when I came to Lake Lure for a weekend vacation. Immediately, I fell in love with the cabin, its potential and the beautiful Lake Lure area. The owner agreed to sell and now I can claim this charming cabin as my own!
The covered porch and its lovely view was immediately a favorite place to sit, drink coffee, read, or have long chats. And, I am so pleased to have a wood burning fireplace! Is there anything better than to have a cozy evening by the fire? It brings me such enjoyment to come to the cabin and stay when I can. Also, I derive such pleasure in renting it out for others to come and find peace, relaxation, and joy in all God has created!
Excellent cabin. Beautiful and cozy. Wood burning fireplace was awesome! Bonnie, our host was gracious and quick to respond to emails. My wife and I have never stayed in the same cabin twice; but this one changed our mind. Thank you Bonnie. You will see us again.
We had a great time spending Christmas at the Bird's Nest. It is such a peaceful spot and the cabin if very comfy and cozy - it was such a relaxing getaway and so nice to be able to bring our dog's with us! Thank you for such a wonderful time!
I spent a wonderful weekend in this perfectly designed and appointed log cabin on a ridge line over Lake Lure. The stone fireplace with the raised hearth invited a wood fire every morning and evening. Thank you for the wood pile outside. I had fire logs in the car so getting a fire going was easy. What an immaculately kept home! The down comforter on the upstairs king size bed was so comfy.. I hope that I get to make a return trip soon!
Our stay at the Bird's Nest was magical. The location was quiet, pristine and still and provided for a stunning mountain view of the spectacular fall foliage. Our two dogs loved running around outside in the forest and the deck was a favorite for us all to have our morning coffee all bundled up and enjoy a drink in the evening. The master suite was out of a dream with its log king size bed and goose down heavenly softness. The fireplace, for which wood was provided kept us toasty and warm. We cooked most of our meals in the well- appointed kitchen and found everything we needed. While on our 2 night stay, we climbed Chimney Rock with our pups and hiked on the Blue Ridge Parkway and visited downtown Asheville- all of these were a first for us and we loved every experience. We dined one evening locally at Medina's and found the food wonderful and the staff lovely. Highly recommend.
Thank you so much for the gift of this retreat; it provided us with wonderful memories to last us until we come back.
Pictures don't do it justice. Kitchen is bigger than the pictures look. You feel so secluded on the back porch yet just minutes to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock! Bonnie was wonderful to work with!
This property is ideally located close to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. The cabin is nicely furnished with everything to make your stay comfortable
and enjoyable. Would recommend this cabin for couples with no more than two children as it is on the small side, but very cozy and inviting.
The Bird's Nest is located amidst the beautiful mountains of the Hickory Nut Gorge. The views throughout the area are spectacular. National Geographic once voted Lake Lure as one of the 10 most beautiful man-made lakes in the world. Whether climbing Chimney Rock (or taking the elevator up!), or going on the affordable Lake Lure Scenic Boat Tour, you will not be disappointed with the beauty of the area.
