A lovely Boulder home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had our parents visit for Christmas, and with such a small apartment we wanted to rent a house to fit us all. Liz’s house was perfect for the 6 of us. It is so close to downtown and perfectly cozy. Honestly we didn’t want to leave the house! Would absolutely recommend it to anyone!

Quaint Vintage Cottage in a Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 came into town for a college football game and were so thrilled as soon as we opened the white gate leading to the front porch. It felt like taking a step back in time but with modern amenities. The backyard was a peaceful sanctuary. We relaxed in the cozy home in the evenings. We were so close to everything! Pearl Street and University of Colorado Boulder were so convenient to get to. Liz, the owner was so sweet and checked in with us upon arrival to make sure we had everything we needed. She was a pleasure work with!

Charming Boulder Home!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the feel of this old and cozy home. It was charming, clean and had tons of character. The owner was incredibly nice to work with, and everything was in walking distance. We would stay here again!

Attentive Owner and Nice Enough but Older, Bohemian House

  • 4 of 5

Liz, I believe its Liz, seems to be a very nice, attentive Homeaway Owner. And her house does exist and is marked correctly on the calendar, which is an issue I am experiencing more and more with HomeAway. The entire booking process is unfair and it is my suspicion that many of the homes listed on HomeWay (and other similar sites) aren't really available but serve instead as "window dressing" to validate the site's credibility and market share. So after a week of waiting 24 hours at a time for the same "sorry the house is not available for your dates, we will update our calendar (which never happened for any listing)," Liz responded to one of my desperate emails and said that, yes indeed, her home would be available.

So I requested and she readily accepted and we arrived. Her home's location is fine, it's a bit of a transitional area but the proximity to Parks and Pearl Street is as advertised. The further West you go the better the location and proximity to what visitors will most likely be attracted to in the area.

Overall, the house was mostly as advertised and served our purposes. The owner seems to be well travelled and I didn't have any major issues. I gave the home 4 starts because it shouldn't be held accountable for the non-user friendly rental system. There were a few deficiencies as follows:

The house is old and not particularly child friendly. The stairs are steep without a handrail. The AC is a swamp cooler which helps but doesn't remove humidity (yes it can get humid in Boulder, I go to Denver/Boulder twice a year at minimum) and it won't fully the cool the house when it gets hot (again yes it does get hot, 99F on one day of our visit and commonly in the 90's during late June through Aug). In order to get/keep the downstairs cool at night, you have to freeze people upstairs and even then its a struggle to get the downstairs cool. The beds and sheets and pillows are old as well and of medium quality at best, just an FYI, and I'm not sure about all the beds being "Queen's". The welcome letter is thorough but involves a lot of "beware(s)," mostly that stuff is old and won't work well.

Most important is me and my family had a place to stay and it was quiet, secure, and hospitable. I thank Liz fro her hospitality and would urge her to spend about 2k updating and repairing her home and she will surely get all 5 star ratings in the future.

Charming Victorian & Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the property with friends while visiting Boulder. It is a great location within walking distance of Pearl Street. You can even walk all the way to hiking trails too! Liz was so pleasant to contact with questions and made checking in and out of the property so easy! The home is great for a group of adults, has everything you need and we loved being able to spend some time outside on the patio and front porch too.

This home felt welcoming, convenient, and charming in a perfect location. My three sons could roam throughout the home in a safe, playful, and spacious location with safe outside areas. Liz was kind, accessible and responsive. A+
