Our home is a perfect rental for two families or 3-4 couples. We have completed a 360 sq. ft. loft addition in late December 2016. The house and casita sleep maximum of 8. Our home is very well maintained (one of number one reasons people appreciate our home) and tastefully decorated with a Sea Ranch/Pottery Barn look and a high-end kitchen. Four decks to enjoy panoramic amazing ocean and garden views. Easy walk to Shell Beach and privately located at the end of the cul-de-sac. Located on .5 acre with empty .5 acre lots on either side. Our rates DO NOT include casita. See notes on rate page for adding casita. Three gas hearths, 2 large HD television with DVR, hot tub, free wireless internet service included. Wireless will allow streaming (Netflex, etc) beginning December 1st. Main House: 1 King, 1 Queen, 1 queen sofa bed (top of the line American Leather brand) in loft, window seats for children. Casita: 1 Queen. ( Please note that we do not rent the 'Casita' alone.)
There is an openness to this home not only inside with its many windows but outside too. The home is bi-level with 3 steps to kitchen and bathrooms. Unique to our house is the large open mowed space surrounding the house which has allowed for many a whiffle ball game, soccer, bocce, frisbee or kite flying. Bring your bicycles to enjoy either mountain biking on the trails or biking Leeward Road for a 8 mile roundtrip from our house on a road with little elevation change.
We designed the detached 'Casita' for a unique suite with its own deck, gas fireplace, and spectacular views. Family & guests cannot decide which master suite they like best at the house. Our decks give you lots of options for sun or shade & protection from wind. The solar effect on the vast front windows keep the house toasty warm on cold days.
Our home have linens provided with the beds made so that you can enjoy your visit from the moment you walk in the door. You will find kitchen & bath towels too. Through our years of renting, we discovered many homes lacked kitchen amenities. We enjoy cooking & decided to outfit the kitchen with good kitchen dishes, sharp knives, pots and pans, lots of spices and seasonings for the gourmet chef. Views from the kitchen windows will make you want to cook. The couch and window seats will draw you for a nap, reading a book, or watching the wildlife. Deer love to graze around the house and often take their afternoon naps under the shade of a tree down from the house. Don't be surprised to see hawks, turkeys, or a fox walk by. You can take a walk or bike ride to Shell or Tidepool Beach. The seals are always there, taking their naps or watching you as you explore the beach. Another favorite spot in the house is the game table (downstairs & upstairs) with views as you do a jigsaw puzzle or play one of the many games provided.

Our family camped on the North Coast for nearly 30 years with a love of the ocean, abalone diving and good times camping with family and friends. We learned of The Sea Ranch and began to rent homes after our camping area was closed. We soon discovered the wonderful amenities and luxuries that Sea Ranch offered.
We decided to name our house 'Abalone Point' since we loved abalone diving and we met 44 years ago on Catalina Island and loved swimming at Abalone Point on Catalina Island. We are now retired and can spend the time to maintain and keep our Sea Ranch home up to our standards.

The Abalone Point house was absolutely amazing this past weekend. I couldn't have asked for a better place for our group to stay! Our family so appreciated the comfort and conveniences of this home for our end of the year get together!! We were all sick and laid around watching NETFLIX most of the week we were there! But we were as comfortable as if we had been home! On our better days, we fished and even CAUGHT! We did the hot tub, some hiked on the beach. We cooked and ate and sympathized with each other as we hacked and coughed our way into the New Year!! Thank you Peggy and Tom for sharing your wonderful home with us!! We will visit again and hopefully, stay well the next time!! ps That round puzzle was a killer!!
Abalone Point provided the perfect getaway for our two families--relaxing, peaceful, private, and very comfortable--in the run-up to the seasonal madness. We enjoyed extraordinarily unseasonable weather--warm, still, and brilliantly sunny which made hikes, beach combing, bike riding, trail running, and the Del Mar Rec Center pool even more special. We got to see a lot of wildlife close to the house including rabbits, deer, hawks, hummingbirds, and gophers. The loft was a great hideaway for our teenage daughters and all the beds were very comfortable. Great to have a kitchen where we did not want for salad spinners, colanders, wine glasses, and pans! Thanks for a memorable stay.
This property has it all! As soon as you drive into the court, Abalone Point stands out like a beacon of beauty in an area where all the homes look so similar. The grounds are well cared for and the home's multiple outdoor decks provide space for lounging in the sun or shade throughout any part of the day. The views from the Kitchen, Living Room and Loft are incredible. Tom and Peggy constructed a wonder Loft area in the home that was perfect for a cup of coffee in the morning and a cocktail in the evening. The home is surrounded by several manicured empty grass lots which prevents a sense of crowding from neighboring properties. Deer and wild turkeys are a common sight around the home. The interior of the home was spacious even with three couples and two children. There always seemed to be a place to go even to enjoy a moment of solitude when needed.
The Cassida was spacious and offered an ocean view deck, a private restroom and a small kitchenette. Our guests enjoyed the Cassida's private feel but it's close proximity to the home's main entrance and attached deck.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Abalone Point. We visit Sea Ranch frequently and have found other homes in the community to feel dated and run down. Abalone Point has modern amenities and finishes that are not often seen in homes around the rental price point presented. Communication with the owners was extraordinarily easy, detailed and their responses to e-mails were returned rapidly.
My wife and I just returned home from Sea Ranch after a long weekend and are already reviewing our calendars to find time in the near future to revisit Abalone Point.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at Abalone Point! The location was great as it had lovely ocean views from the kitchen and living room! The trailhead to the beach was just a short walk and the trail down to the beach was about 0.5 mile, easy to find and accessible. Lots of deer and wildlife spotted right from the living room. I appreciate the excellent directions provided by Peggy. We had 6 adults and the casita was nice for the couple that wanted to sleep in / quiet time. 5 Stars for the very fast wi-fi, even with 6+ devices. I would definitely stay here again.
