Roomy 2 Stry Cottage - 5 Bedrooms + Additional Bunkhouse, 3 Baths, (16 max)
You deserve a secluded restful vacation in the Smoky Mountains. This is the perfect site for family reunions or groups of friends to gather! Enjoy nature and all it has to offer deep in the Appalachian Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest in Tennessee, 22 miles east of Vonore & Tellico Plains in the vast Citico Wilderness Area. Note: Parties over 12 must rent the additional Bunkhouse. (see Amenities)
The Cottage at Hemlock Grove, located only 50 minutes from I-75 or the Knoxville Airport, tucks you away in extreme privacy and luxury in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Located in a private hollow on 300 acres you can immerse your senses in all that Nature has to offer. Spend days exploring streams, old growth forests, an old mountaineer homestead, and expansive, unspoiled views after hiking to a private mountain top ridge. This is a true Tennessee mountain experience without roughing it!
For its remoteness, this upscale cottage is surprisingly close to many attractions. Bring your jet-skis or boat and enjoy Tellico and Chilhowee Lakes. Boat ramps are just a few miles away. Abundant trout run in gorgeous, rushing, Citico Creek just minutes away. The Citico forest service road runs along the creek for twenty magnificent miles through the Cherokee National Forest to the breathtaking Cherohala Skyway (Hwy 165) and Indian Boundary Lake.
Thirteen trails, within the National Forest, totaling 57.4 miles provide access to much of Citico Creek Wilderness. For a fun day trip, Dollywood and the other attractions of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are less than two scenic hours away (76 miles). Scenic drive enthusiasts will love the proximity to the 'tail of the dragon' or Highway 129 to Deal's Gap.

Beautiful location in the mountains
Kirsten, Thanks for taking time to write a great review! We are so pleased that your family and all the young people had such a good time at The Cottage @ Hemlock Grove & Bunkhouse! With your family from Canada and others from Florida and Georgia, our location was a perfect way to spend the New Year Celebration! Thanks too for your efforts in looking after the place, a true feat with 11 kids! We welcome you back any time and highly suggest you try one of the warmer seasons like Summer or Fall! Glad you stayed warm even in the Bunkhouse in sub-freezing weather.
Happy Travels!
Hidden Gem...and I do mean hidden!
Kim,
Thanks so much for the great review and for letting future guests know exactly what to expect! You said a lot when you said "it's not going to be for everyone" but when you are looking for a mountain/forest vacation destination for 12 children, I think you hit the nail on the head!, as far as a perfect place to stay!
The Fort London State Park and soon-to-reopen Sequoyah Indigenous American Cherokee museum add a touch of old American and Native history that kids can really tap into. In Late October, you timed the turning leaf season just perfectly and even had some weather cool enough to fire up the wood burning stove in the Bunkhouse! We hope you will come back in summer for trout fishing in nearby Citico Creek and lake swimming in Tellico, Chilhowee and Indian Boundary Lakes! The kids will love it! You are welcome back any time.
Perfect unplugged getaway
Thanks so much for the great review! We are so pleased The Cottage and Bunkhouse provided the perfect setting for your family gathering and celebration! We welcome you back any time!
Came for the 2017 Eclipse and stayed for the nature.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write a spectacular review! We know that as the organizer of your large group you took a lot of risk choosing The Cottage at Hemlock Grove as your 2017 Total Eclipse destination. Will everyone be comfortable? Will the property be as described? Will the kitchen be suitable to feed 17 people? These are concerns that only feedback from previous guests can alleviate! Thank you for helping our future guests understand what we offer.
Thank you also for enjoying the property and surrounding area to its fullest! It brings us great joy to expose others to the beauty of this remote part of the Smoky Mountains and Cherokee National Forest. Thanks for leaving the place in great shape. We hope you will come back to visit again soon! You are always welcome! - Lee
Repeat Guests, Repeat Success
JS,
Thanks for this thoughtful and nicely written review. We are pleased you had great Fall weather and turning leaves this go-round and were able to enjoy the woods and trails. As you mentioned, the Cottage, Bunkhouse and property are great for young people to poke around in the woods and streams. Thanks for your attention to leaving everything in such great shape. We welcome you and your family back at any time.

Awesome!!!
Patty, Thank you for your great review! I am grateful that you let others know that our Mt. Pleasant Road can be a challenge but that it IS DOABLE, and fun too, for experienced bikers. I think it is one of the most scenic roads around. Thanks for leaving the cottage in great condition and we hope to see your group back again real soon. Perhaps you will try the Fall Season to see the gorgeous leafs. - Lee
