About Raul Echarte

We are a retired married couple from the busy city of Miami, Fl and enjoy the peace and tranquility that this house provides for us.

Raul Echarte purchased this house in 2005

Why Raul Echarte chose Lake Santeetlah

One of the main reasons why we chose to buy is because of the national preserve in front of the house. The view that you see will never change; so you have no worries of any other houses destroying your gorgeous outdoors views.

What makes this house unique

Being right on the lake is very nice and convenient. We park the boat on the dock and its ready to go in the morning no dealing with the dock master. just in the boat and out to enjoy the beautiful lake.

Amazing house and lake for an amazing vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house in October 2017 for a Fall getaway. Everything about this house and stay exceeded our expectations. Prior to arriving, the owners checked in with us to make sure we had what we needed and were very helpful and welcoming. Upon arrival, the home was exactly as described: "Gorgeous Mountain Home - Lakefront Property." Really, that description doesn't quite capture it. The home is spacious, comfortable and charming. There is a negative review for the property on VBRO, and I cannot begin to understand it. This home and location are absolutely wonderful for a family or group of friends looking to enjoy the Lake Santeetlah area. If anything, the home is so wonderful, you might find yourself wanting to stay inside all day instead of getting out on the lake or hiking or biking.... However you choose to enjoy this home and area, you cannot go wrong. Amazing place!

Crawfordville, FL

Overall satisfied.

  • 4 of 5

Lovely view. House was roomy but needed a third room with another queen or king instead of bunk beds. We had three couples and a 20 month old. Housekeepers need to step up their game. Cob webs and floors really needed a good vacuuming.

Tired, needed cleaning and renovation.

The location is stunning. A beautiful place. The house was once wonderful. It could be again with some money spent on it. The management of the property is poor. The photos show the house in the spring. In summer the tree cover cuts out light. The garden is overgrown with crumbling railway sleepers holding back the bank. Nails sticking up from the decking. The owner is difficult to contact and did not respond to my e-mail regarding the open property. There was no visitor pack to be found, prior communication was limited. On arrival I discovered that the front door was unlocked. Clearly a security concern. In fact with windows only locking systems being a piece of wood wedging them shut I am amazed that any Insurance company would insure the property for contents. This would not happen in the UK. The property was dusty and surfaces were not clean. The property has bedrooms on the ground floor. These rooms do not have curtains nor blinds. There is no privacy and my daughter felt very insecure. There are many unlocked storage rooms that young children could find their way into and get lost/injured. One room contained a large quantity of out of date medication, a huge concern. There was an unlocked fridge at the lake which we randomly discovered, again a concern with children shutting themselves into places. Light fittings were broken, a shower fixture came off in the hand and the washing machine did not work. The telephone did not work. Normally not a problem but we could not get mobile/cell phone signals. No kettle to boil water. The manager left a note stating that the washing machine had been damaged by prior occupants. We moved in on the Saturday, it was repaired-but still did not work-on the following Thursday. We were not told that it had been been 'repaired'. A handi-man turned up without prior arrangement with the manager late in the week. Our holiday was almost over. Repairs were pointless to us. There is no safe in the house for important documents such as Passports-standard in Florida rentals. Trash/rubbish...there is no collection. You have to take it to a dumpster three miles away. No sunbeds. Why? We go abroad because it rains in Wales a lot. Would I go to the area again. Yes. it is wonderful, hire a boat, go rafting, fishing, tubing, walking, camping, nice people. But not to this property. An important point-the property is in Graham County. You cannot buy alcohol. There are a couple of lodges where it is available, nothing local.

Owner's Response: We are sorry that these visitors were disappointed. We are committed to making this home a pleasure for all who visit and are grateful for the many glowing reviews from our guests many of whom return. This is our first negative review in 9 years. This is our home and not a hotel so there is no safe or welcoming package. The front door was left open by the cleaning crew for the next visitor. One of the beauties of this remote lodge is that it is in a national forest where people often leave doors unlocked and security is not a problem. As reported by our manager, the previous guest had broken the washer by putting belts to wash, broke several light fixtures and caused other damage. Repairs where made as soon as practicable. We do have cell phone reception on our side of the mountain and wifi. We have a working refrigerator by the lake for easy access to the dock. Repairs and painting were already scheduled for Sept and Oct 2017. We look forward to sharing our beautiful home on the lake for years to come.

Wonderful summer vacation with our family at this beautiful lakefront home

  • 5 of 5

The house was very accommodating for our large family. It was clean and well supplied with most of what we needed. We would have enjoyed having kayaks available to us on the property. We enjoyed swimming off the dock. The views from the house were spectacular. The weather was great the week we were there and we spent most of our time right there. We did enjoy a short hike to a nearby waterfall. Our family came from Tenn, MI, Conn., and N.C. We highly recommend this vacation home.

House was perfect for our 2 families that shared it. The layout gives spectacular views of the glorious lake and surrounding mountains. We enjoyed the lake everyday! The kitchen was large and had plenty of dishes. Honestly we were in awe the entire time!

Fabulous home in the perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

This is a very special home on a very special lake in a very special lakeside community.

With a terrific location on a wide section of the lake, the home has a truly commanding view of the lake and opposite shoreline.

Its southern exposure means a beautiful lakeside sunrise to the home’s left, a beautiful lakeside sunset to the home’s right, and a gentle sunlight all day that makes the home’s beautiful interior wood glow golden.

The community is the charming Town of Lake Santeetlah ( , with winding perimeter and upper roads of a single lane and little traffic, perfect for leisurely walking.

We met numerous residents on our walks around the community and enjoyed many a warm and friendly conversation.

We are two couples who live in lakeside homes ourselves and expect much from a lake.

Lake Santeetlah met our highest expectations.

We believe this home is priced very attractively and represents an exceedingly good value.

We could not recommend this home more highly to anyone looking for elegant lakeside living, either as a couple or couple of couples, or as a family with many adventurous children in tow.

Certainly, our experience was a very good one, and we plan to be back.
