About Hunter Turner
Since 1986 our family has been escaping to the mountains of Robbinsville, North Carolina to reconnect with nature, explore, and of course create lifelong memories with our family. We have hiked every trail, taught our two boys to fish here, and shared endless gatherings with family and friends. Every season offers an exciting new set of adventures and scenery. The winter snow, spring wild flowers, summer trout, and fall leaves are just the beginning of what you can expect to find. We invite you to come create memories, share new adventures, and take in the sights and sounds of this nature escape.

Why Hunter Turner chose Cheoah
After vacationing here as a child, we knew this was an experience we wanted to share with our children. Over the years, we searched for the perfect mountain home only to create our own private escape of several residences. Today we own four mountain homes in Robbinsville and look forward to sharing them with you, your family, and friends.
What makes this Cabin unique
When you arrive at the Homestead on Huffman Creek, it may take you a few minutes to unwind. Grab your favorite book - or e-reader - head to the porch, hot tub, hammock, or stream, and prepare for a trip of pure relaxation. Our favorite thing to do is prepare a 'breakfast extravaganza' each morning for the few early risers in the bunch. Prepare a pile of pancakes for those morning lovers and let the rest stay snuggled in bed. Best of all, by the time those morning lovers wrap up, the rest of us are about ready for a day of hiking, exploring, and sometimes napping. It's just the right size home to offer a good combination of gathering spaces and privacy.

Upgrades Galore! Perfect Trip for the Whole Family
Every once in a blue moon I get together with my siblings. We all travel pretty extensively and over the years we have tried everything from beach excursions to big city trips. The older we have gotten, the harder we find it to find the perfect location for our growing families. Each of us being years apart, we have very different needs. For us, we look for somewhere that can accommodate 3 families, a few kids, and also offer activities. Being that we all have a background in the food industry, a properly equipped kitchen is a huge deal. This place met all of our needs plus. The newly renovated kitchen was awesome, the addition of an extra bathroom downstairs was perfect, and the hosts were great. Everyone loved the outside hot tub and the hiking trails were admittedly a bit chilly in January but an awesome feature to keep us from having to leave the property. I can't recommend this place enough. Can't wait to get back. Thinking a summer trip is definitely in order to enjoy the outdoor fire pit and stunning streams.
Overall we had a great time!
The cabin was definitely roomy and accommodating for our large group of 11 people! The beds were very comfortable. There were 3 bathrooms which was great but only two showers. The pool table, poker table, and games provided hours of fun! The cabin did not have central heat and air which was a concern, especially with the freezing temperatures, but the gas operated fireplace on the first floor amazingly kept us warm- especially on the 3rd floor. There were AC window units which were not necessary during our winter stay and probably would have been better off removed and windows shut completely for more insulation. The kitchen was nice but the utensils could use updating- especially the knives which were very dull and made it difficult to cut meat etc. when preparing meals and no ice maker- only ice trays. If we had known that we would have brought bags of ice! The hot tub was amazing and there was a nice seating area around the fire pit that we enjoyed! The property was beautiful and we enjoyed hiking through it.
Like having your own National Park!
Better outdoor experience than a campground and the luxury of a great hotel with 5 times the room. It was a great vacation for me, my grown daughters and their spouses.
Nice property to stay with gang of friends or family.
Very nice property. Just one thing about the road to enter the property.. there is no road for about a mile when accessing the property... Since we went in a huge van it was difficult for us to ride on that road. Other than this no complaints.. very nice owner and nice property..
Excellent stay at Homestead Cabin!
We were at Homestead Cabin for a belated 31st anniversary. What a great location to stay at. I agree with the other reviewers. Excellent cabin with so many great features. It is so quiet and serene there. The hot tub, pool table, Wi-Fi, benches, kitchen features, fire pit, plenty of bedrooms and beds if you had a big group - make this an awesome rental cabin.
We only needed BJ's assistance for one issue. He was very quick to respond and take care of the issue.
The directions were so awesome. Pictures of every turn. Wow what an outstanding job done on the directions!
We highly recommend Lynn's Place for a great meal in Robbinsville. Lynn's had EXCELLENT desserts. El Pacifico Mexican had many good choices. Papa's Pizza to Go had good food too. For a special anniversary meal we headed to Bryson City and the Fryemont Inn restaurant. We love the food at the FI restaurant. But I can say for sure if we were to stay again I'd stock up on groceries at the Ingles in Robbinsville and just enjoy the cabin.
Just wish we could have stayed longer. Four nights was just not long enough.
Thank you to Chelsea and BJ - and all that make these cabins a pleasure to rent.
Our four families from MS, VT and TN enjoyed a week at Huffman Creek Retreat. It was very relaxing, played lots of board games due to a rainy week, cooked and ate way too much! Only downfall of this location is it's location, but we knew that going in. It does take about 30 min to go into Robbinsville, an hour to Bryson City and over an hour to Cherokee. This did not deter us from venturing out every day, however. It was always nice to get back to the cabin. Time stood still for us for a week and we enjoyed our stay.
The cabin was clean and fairly well equipped kitchen, rather small, but for vacation it's all we needed. Because it rained most of the week we were there, the mosquitos were very bad, so maybe some tiki lights or citronella candles added to the list of "things to bring" would have been helpful. We all loved going to the creek and just playing in the very COLD water. The hot tub was very well used by all. Over all, we had a wonderful week, Google maps took us right to the cabin (although I wondered about it the first day going in! Thought I was on a gravel driveway to a farm) so trust your GPS! Highly recommend if you want a week to just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.
