Unfortunately, upon walking in, it was hard to get past how dirty the rugs and carpets were, which seemed to smell. We realized that the other aspects of the place were clean. The host had great communication with us during our stay. The layout of the condo really worked well for my husband, our adult daughter and me. The kitchen was well stocked, and the location served us well.
Great location, very clean, and had everything we needed! Host was very communicative and made sure all of our questions were answered prior to our stay. We would definitely stay here again! I was nervous about the stairs after reading other reviews, but it wasn’t bad at all.
Communication prior to check in was great with answers to any possible questions already addressed. The check in instructions were clear. They are not kidding with the 39 steps from vehicle to door. The condo was clean and if snow is keeping you from going out, you have all the essentials there to cook and be entertained to include the pool and hot tubs. Location was optimal and close to shopping or venturing out to any trails. This was perfect for the price.
Came to Durango for FLC graduation and location was perfect! Had everything we needed for 4 of us. There are stairs to walk up, but that was not a problem for us.
Lovely condo, very good location, beautiful surroundings. Host was terrific and easy to communicate with. Everything you could need was supplied. Very short distance to town center.Yes there are 39 steps up to the condo, but we managed with luggage, and all 4 of us are into our 70s. So very doable. The only downer was that you couldn't use the fireplace (which we were looking forward to). But we did thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
You can definitely skip the stair stepper at the gym. At least we could. The place had an amazing view from the master bedroom upstairs. It was clean and quiet. All the things you need are there. Check in and check out was easy peasy.
Unit was nice. It could use some work on. Woodwork in main bathroom. Also, maintenance on door covering washer and dryer..Sadly, hot tub was out of order. That was one of the reasons for choosing this place.Chair in living room is broken. Property mgr notified

Too many stairs
The property was in a good location but the downsides were too many stairs and it was very old, all the furniture was very old, ragged and uncomfortable. The property manager was very accommodating and responsive when we need to alter the reservation. He was the best thing about the property.

This guest stayed in a different unit due to her desire to add additional nights. Her review does not reflect this particular unit, but another within the same condo complex.
We thought we were renting a house but it was a condo(?) with 37 stairs to get up to the unit. Did I miss something in the descriptions?? That was a surprise for the 3 of us septuagenarians! They did get easier as the week went on, but it was hard. The condo was nice, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. All in all, aside from the many steps to get into it, it was good.

Hi Jan - I'm sorry for the confusion, but the listing mentions in several places that this is a condo. So it seems like maybe this was an oversight on your part when booking. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the space otherwise!
Bobby was great about communicating with me. He let us know about the clothes washer overflowing and possibility of the bathroom not being usable. It would be nice to have known there are 39 steps to get to the condo in the VRBO posting. Wjile relatively clean, it needs updating. The location is great, though.

Hi Shellie - thanks for the review! The listing description does call out the number of steps, maybe you missed it when booking?
To get to the unit … 39 steps. To get to the main bedroom another flight of stairs. This was a challenge with luggage. The property manager quickly found a resolution to a security issue with the main floor (2nd bedroom) a/c unit (the solution worked because it was not needed). Though the surfaces were vacuumed, the carpets were dirty (stained). Neighbors & neighborhood was quiet.
I had originally booked La Plata Views, but about 2 weeks before our stay was notified that due to some water damage in the unit, we could be moved to Hodge Podge Lodge, another unit within the same complex. That unit didn't quite have the bed set up we were hoping for, but it ended up working out OK for our group - 2 adults & 2 teenage girls. The afternoon of our arrival, the property manager messaged to let me know that one of the bathtubs had a clog with standing water and that a plumber would be coming out the next day (Monday) to fix it. True to his word, the plumber did indeed arrive and solve the problem the next day.Overall, would recommend booking a unit at this property. It's an older complex, but it was clean and the location was convenient to historic downtown Durango.
