VRBO Bear stayed here

Sep 14, 2017

The VRBO Bear, weary from days of rugged backpacking in Yosemite National Park found a picturesque, tranquil mountain home resembling something right out of a dream. The chalet’s rustic log exterior gives it a cozy, inviting presence that fits perfectly with the surrounding mountain views. Inside, the chalet wowed the Bear with its luxurious amenities and sustainable design. Most of the furniture is made of wood and beautiful Native American decorations and scenic photos of the Sierras and Yosemite line the walls and mantles. Motion-sensing, energy efficient lights brighten up every room. TWO hot tubs are available, one outdoor and one in the master suite - and both worked flawlessly! The large kitchen comes complete with all the cookware needed to prepare some tasty meals. A classic wood stove adorns the adjacent family room, begging to be used in the cold winter months. The Bear’s favorite, however, was the Grand Room, a lofty living room complete with a large bar, stools, leather couches, fireplace, and even a backgammon table. Yes, there’s a TV with some DVDs available, but the Bear much preferred to read a book in one of the many lounging areas. Upstairs, the chalet offers three bedrooms each with its own comfy memory foam mattress, bathroom and clean shower. There was no shortage of extra blankets and towels. The surrounding grounds are well-kept and breathtaking. Majestic mountains and pine forests can be seen in every direction. Serene babbling brooks form a border between the chalet and surrounding wilderness. The chalet, located in the quiet mountain town of June Lake, is near many stunning lakes and mountains. The Bear mainly chose this location for its proximity to Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park, which is under an hour’s drive. There’s a general store to buy groceries nearby, and also a few restaurants offering traditional American fare. The chalet is perfectly suitable for a family retreat or group wanting to escape the noise and rush of city life. The Bear enjoyed this pristine getaway and will be dreaming of visiting again!

Incredible experience - beautifully furnished home, and room for everyone!

  • 5 of 5

I want to go baaack! This place was incredible! There are so many words to describe what a great place this was for our family, but none of them quite do it justice. Seven of us stayed for a week in wonderful June Lake, including my three young children and my older parents. All of us were fully satisfied and so sad when it was time to finally leave!

The beautiful luxury home was furnished in the fashion of a log cabin with a native-american theme. The craftsmanship of this place is absolutely gorgeous, and it honestly seems like no expense was spared when it came to levels of comfort. Multiple AC/Heating units, automatic lights that turned on when we needed them, and even heated bathroom floors were just a few of the amenities that improved our quality of life here.

The rooms were huge. It honestly felt like there are three master bedrooms in this house. One of them has a giant jacuzzi which was a lot of fun, and all three of them have a high quality memory-foam mattress. The facility was super clean when we arrived, and every square inch of the place served as fully functional space (as opposed to things that look pretty but are useless).

The downstairs contained a wonderful living room and kitchen space with plenty of room for my family to all sit down together and enjoy coffee while my children ran around and played together. The kitchen was fully stocked with every sort of cookware that we needed. The sink was large, and water throughout the house warmed within a few seconds. The living room on the other side had a large TV with a full array of DVD's and a stock of family board games nearby.

Everything is child-proofed, and I was extremely relieved to find that even simple things like the corners of tables were rounded, light sockets were all covered, water didn't get scalding hot, carpets were well-padded, and big things a toddler might pull over were non-existent. They had multiple "pack-and-play" cribs as well as other things you might want for a kid-friendly stay, which were also high quality, and so I give them an A+ for thinking through everything I might need for my kids.

Outdoors were great as well. The yard was fully landscaped and blended nature with function very well. Bridges crossed over two pretty streams of water, and we even saw a deer crossing the yard!

The location was great as well. They are located right in the center of June Lake, which makes driving anywhere easy.

Definitely stay here. That is all :)

Refreshing, immaculate, cozy, and FUN!

  • 5 of 5

This property blew our minds. We were a party of six in desperate need of a break from reality.

From the time that we opened the door and stepped into the mud room to the bittersweet exit, we were in constant awe.

Definitely worth the 8 hour drive from San Diego! We look forward to returning to this property in the future!

I won’t describe the details of the interior or exterior, because you NEED to experience it for yourselves. It’s AMAZING!

Robert, thank you for accommodating us every step of the way! You are an amazing property manager/owner and we greatly appreciate how attentive you are!

My family spent a week here, blessed with an overnight blanket of fresh powder that made the trip to June Mountain Ski Area even more outstanding. The Chalet was the perfect home away from home for us and we will definitely return!!

Stunning, beautiful!!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed our time at the Yosemite chalet immensely. The chalet is a true log "cabin" built to magnificent castle-like proportions. The grandeur of the home is rivaled only the captivating natural setting. When we first arrived, I frankly went from room to room a with mouth agape and could not stop myself from saying "wow" at every turn. The soaring ceilings, the majestic fireplace in the great room and big kitchen are all exceptional. The dining room features a slab table top cut from one enormous tree. The house is tastefully appointed, with interesting books about art and the beauty of the natural world, as well as local adventures, local trees, and Eastern Sierra wildlife. There are bronze sculptures and Native American art in nearly every room. The house is capacious, affording everyone breathing room to decompress and relax, yet cozy when the wood burning stove is lit in the kitchen.

Every detail was considered for the convenience of guests in this home. The entrance has large shelves, cubbies and a long bench for wiggling out of snow boots and ski gear and keeping boots, mittens and market bags organized. Lights are on sensors to guide you wherever you go. The master is on a wing separated from the other bedrooms for maximum privacy, and complete with a "bird's nest" loft. The bath towels are plush and the bathrooms afford a choice of interesting soaking and/or bubbling experiences. Sadly, we did not try out the geothermal hot tub but certainly intend to in the summer months. The beds are thick foam, that feel firm at first but then you sink into them sleeping like a log yourself.

As we settled in, I soon learned that every couch was accommodating in the extreme, where you could just settle in and read, converse or daydream, looking out of a window. The windows themselves must be 30 feet tall in the great room. Nearly every window in the home was artfully cut to form a lovely frame for a masterwork "painting" of nature. VIEWS. The stained glass in the master bedroom creates a cathedral-like calm when the sun pours through them. And, the house is set perfectly on a lot where a creek ambles around three sides of the property and backs up to trails easy enough for our 7-year-old to hike up and get a sense of adventure. There were puzzles and games tucked away for a larger crowd and I found myself playing "twister" for the first time in 35 years.

The chalet is a stone's throw from the June Lake family-friendly ski area.

Great house - highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

We rented the Yosemite Gateway Chalet as base for a group of photographers. The layout of the house and amenities worked out great for us. We particularly enjoyed the well equipped kitchen, large dining room, and great room. The entire facility was very clean and well maintained. We rate it 5 stars and plan to stay again the next time we do a photo trip to the June Lake area.
