In the summer you can relax on the deck in the warm evenings, lounging in the patio chairs or sitting at the table with friends. There is plenty of room for large groups and lots of seating. The winter time often brings snow, and the river becomes a serene escape from the bustle of the city. Our retreat is located only minutes away from several ski resorts.

The retreat is just steps away from the Sandy River surrounded by beautiful Aspen trees and the large outdoor deck provides great outdoor entertainment for family and friends.

We’ve included everything you need to stay connected to the outside world while you lose yourself in ours! The retreat has WiFi, cable television, and a long distance land line, just in case your cellular service is unreliable. We've also included the ability to stream Netflix, for those of you that prefer no commercials!

Our 4 bedroom, 2 bath home, provides everything you would need to make this your home away from home.

With a gorgeous river rock fireplace and 55 in flat screen television and Blu-ray DVD player, you can lounge on our leather couches and have the best of both worlds. The large picture window provides the perfect view of the forest and river combined!

Upstairs, you will find the master bedroom with pillow top queen mattress, 32 in flat screen, complete with Blu-ray player. Also a shared bathroom with a tiled, double head shower.

The living, dining room, and kitchen provide the open atmosphere while making a meal in our well appointed kitchen, and enjoying your loved ones.

There is a lovely breakfast bar with seating for four, as well as a beautiful dining set to accommodate 6 more.

Downstairs you will be amazed at the space! 3 bedrooms, 2 are host queen beds(1 with a 32' flat screen), the 3rd houses 2 sets of sturdy bunk beds for children, teenagers and adults alike.

Our family area consists of board games, cable television, X-box, and a gaming table. Even a sofa if you’d prefer to snuggle up with one of our books!

Our quaint neighborhood is just 20 minutes to Ski Bowl, Timberline and Mt. Hood Meadows for excellent skiing and snowboarding. Hiking and biking trails are numerous and a host of restaurants and little shops line Highway 26 just 5-10 minutes away as well.

There is a full grocery store, gas station and several shops just a few short miles away. The local tavern, Brightwood Inn, serves decent food and drinks at very reasonable prices, and there is a quick market about a mile away. There is simply too many activities to list and we're a short trip to everything the Mt. Hood area has to offer. See the map and our guest book for numerous more details.

About Stacy & Craig

We've been blessed with 4 wonderful children who happen to love the mountain and wilderness just as much as we do! We've spent years coming up to the mountain, and finally decided it was time we have a little place to call our own family retreat. We want to share our joy of the mountain with you and yours a well!

Stacy & Craig purchased this house in 2012

Why Stacy & Craig chose Brightwood

We were so fortunate to find this property like we did. We wanted to have enough space where our kiddos could enjoy themselves, but, also have enough room to separate ourselves as well!!! HAHA! The location and view were really the deal sealers for us...see for yourself and you'll know why!

What makes this house unique

With the Sandy River view, how could you not fall in love at first sight?!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Stacy, thank you! That was so thoughtful, and such a nice gesture. We are comfortable already. You are good at what you do. The house is super clean, and the decor is sharp.

The river is gorgeous. The kids are so impressed.

I like to be pleased, and you have done that. Great customer service!

Overall the place was great

  • 4 of 5

Location is awesome walk right down to the river. It easily accommodated our large group with plenty of room. A few minor issues upon arrival full trash cans burned out light bulbs, but these were quickly taken care of once we notified owners. The deck is great for outdoor sitting and you can hear the river from there. Wish we could see it but trees pretty much block the view. Only suggestion would be to clean the upstairs carpets they were pretty dirty when we arrived but other than that everything was good.

Family Friendly House and Location

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at the home for several nights to view the solar eclipse. The house had plenty of room for all three families. It has all the needed amenities and and great river access. There is a swimming hole upstream and lots of walking paths by river as well. Our 6 year old got in the river. It was August though and water level was down then. Make informed decision. The house also allows access to the community recreation building which has a pool. The kids swam there and played pool and had a lot of fun. There is a great park nearby the Wildwood Recreation Area and tons of other stuff to do and restaurants to eat at. best of all Stacy was easy to work with and even though there was a small hiccup she professionally handled it and made our stay a success. I read some of the other reviews and I can say my stay was great and I would recommend staying here.

Beautiful, comfortable get-away with river and forest

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful house in a great location. Very quiet with short, private path to the river surrounded by the rugged Mt. Hood National Forest. House was as advertised with plenty of clean, comfortable beds, great working propane BBQ, well stocked game room including poker table w/ chips and multiple video game systems. Owners were very nice and quick to respond and let us check out a little late. Well set-up for larger groups of people with big back deck w/ river views. Large kitchen bar was great for laying out snacks and buffets. Great information provided for local hikes and full grocery store and restaurants only a mile or two down the road. 4.5 out of 5 stars!!

Property & House, very tired, needs TLC

  • 2 of 5

On arrival, deck covered in leaves/pine needles. Umbrella had bats in it and there poops on the table. Container outside for cig buts full. Patio furniture dirty. Screen missing LR window, patio door screen separating, door hard to use dirty track. Rug and carpet inside towards kitchen dirty and stained. LR furniture little uncomfortable. Smell of cigs in house, suggest total no smoking. Barbq starter would not light , could be a problem of fire to surrounding area if use of another flame igniter.

Over all house clean nice location, neighbours friendly , fireworks in area very light, good for our four legged family.Requires some TLC.

Comfortable and roomy

  • 4 of 5

Pros: Great price, Clean, games, toys, movies, Easy access to 26 for Mountain access, easy access to Welches for groceries and such. Beautiful walking trails along the river right out the back of the house. Comfortable furniture, plenty of space for social activity, kitchen well stocked with dishes, utensils, etc. great TV's, cable, wifi, extra blankets, pillows, towels, were thoughtfully in bedroom closets, The deck and BBQ would be awesome in Warm months, again - Clean and GREAT PRICE.

Not so Pros: Neighborhood setting with houses immediately on either side- felt like the suburbs rather than mountain cabin in the woods, no central heating. Instead each room has small wall heaters. Trying to heat up both levels with these heaters caused the breaker box switch to trip. So, we kept the main level heated during social hours. Turned all heat off before bed in social areas, then could warm up the very chilly bedrooms at bedtime with the wall heaters in the rooms. Once the house was warm and we figured out a routine it was actually a nearly non-issue.
