This cute & cozy cottage is located in the desirable Spruce Point Colony and is one of the original cottages of Spruce Point Inn. Completely remodeled and updated, it is now privately owned and is part of a two acre private estate. The cottage has water views of the harbor, and its own private seaside terrace is just a few steps away. Located on an ocean peninsula, from the terrace you can watch lobstermen pulling their traps, and see all the boats coming and going from the harbor whether they are beautiful yachts from around the world, one of the many excursion boats or century old windjammers. Spruce Point Inn is next door and offers many wonderful amenities such as tennis courts, swimming pools, a spa, kayaks, bicycles and two restaurants, 88 Grand View and Bogie's. There are also several walking trails through the woods behind the inn. You may have the use of the Spruce Point Inn amenities for an additional fee.
There is much to do in the Boothbay Region. The Chamber of Commerce, will provide you with information and video footage about the many options available from visits to the Maine Maritime Museum, a trip with a local lobsterman, or boat trips on sailing vessels or excursion boats. You can also visit islands such as Monhegan, a famous artist and fishing colony, or Burnt Island and take a tour of what life was like in the 40's for the lighthouse keeper and his family. You can pick blueberries and fresh vegetables in season from the garden next to you, sit and read by the fireplace on a cozy rainy day or at the end of the day watch a beautiful sunset from the deck of your cottage.
We stayed at the cottage for two weeks in June. The cottage is in back of the owners' house. We had a perfect view of the lighthouse, and our own patio and chairs by the water. Combination of wine, snacks, the water and sunset were a perfect way to end our days. The owners were wonderful-friendly, helpful with suggestions, but also gave us complete privacy. They left us a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers as a welcome. Lots of nice shops in town, and some great boat trips. Would love to return to Thrush Cottage
My husband and I just stayed at Thrush Cottage for two weeks in June. The cottage is in the back of the owners' home. We had a view of the harbor and Burnt Island lighthouse. We had our own small patio and chairs right on the water. The cottage is very homey and quiet--wonderful place. The eating area in the kitchen is small, but there is a nice table and chairs on the deck. The owners, Rob and Ruth are wonderful people. They were very helpful, but gave us complete privacy. Very short walk to Spruce Point Inn. We plan to return.
