NORTH TABOR NEIGHBORHOOD. North East side, 4 miles from downtown.
Welcome to my home! A beautiful and spacious 800 sq.ft. totally private lower level apartment space with your own entrance.
- The Queen bed and twin bed are located in the same space, with a privacy curtain between sleeping areas...
- Separate kitchen space w/ frig, toaster oven, microwave, electric hot water pot, sink, dishes, utensils, salt, pepper, oil, tea and coffee for first day. This is not a cooking kitchen, more of a "heat stuff up" kitchen!
- Large tiled full bath with tub/shower.
- 32" TV with WiFi and DVD player. No cable.
- No washer/dryer. Towels, soap, shampoo, iron and board, plus a few small misc items.
- Air conditioner during summer months.
This 1926 home on a double lot was completely updated in 2010. Located in the inner NE neighborhood of North Tabor - a short hop to all of the great east-side neighborhoods with a 5-minute walk to a MAX train stop. Very easy access to downtown by train or a 15-minute drive by car. 5-minute drive (15 blocks) to Providence Hospital.
Filled with lovely colors and lots original art by Northwest artists, there is a new QUEEN bed, plus a TWIN bed in the large STUDIO-SYTLE space. The beds are firm foam with temperature sensitive toppers and all-cotton sheets. (A privacy curtain can be pulled to separate the two sleeping areas.) In the sitting area is a 32" TV with DVD player and free WIFI. A desk and bookshelves allows for a comfortable place for computer work. (Please note that we do not have full TV cable channels.)
The kitchen is a separate room with a table and chairs, stainless refrigerator, sink, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker Plus dishes and utensils. The appliances are new and function well.
This spotlessly clean home includes comfy all-cotton towels and sheets. The large updated bath is tiled, with a tub/shower combination.
If needed in the summer, there is a portable air conditioner to keep the space very cool. And a small electric fireplace for extra heat and atmosphere in the winter.
(Please note that a washer and dryer are not available.)
Lots of free parking on the street. Two egress windows. Fenced back yard with table and chairs.
There are several stairs to the lower level, but once you are inside everything is on one level, a spacious 900 feet. The two owners live very quietly upstairs on the main floor.
You may occasionally see us and our dogs come or go, but we are very quiet. The dogs are never unattended or left alone in the house. (Two of the dos are very small. One is large.) As the owner, I am available to answer questions, and always answer my phone! If I am not available I will return your call asap. No exceptions.
I also have a free-standing studio space on the property. The VRBO link is www.vrbo.com/1036882.
15-minute drive to downtown Portland (5 miles away). 5-minute walk to a MAX train line. You can arrive directly by train from the airport and easily hop on the train to go downtown, to the Convention Center, Zoo, Expo Center, Hollywood and Lloyd District neighborhoods... The house is two blocks from a grocery store and coffee shop. 20-minute walk to Mt Tabor Park. 5 to 10-minute drive to major close-in neighborhoods such as Hollywood, NE Broadway, SE Division, SE Hawthorne, SE Belmont, SE Burnside and 28th Ave (tons of restaurants on each of these streets!) and a 15 minute drive to NE Alberta St and N Mississippi Ave. Providence Hospital is in the neighborhood, 5 minute drive.
The neighborhood is a small pocket that is still old Portland, with new Portland updates. It is very quiet, as there is virtually no through traffic, yet is within minutes to freeway access, bus and train lines, and you can be downtown by car in 10 minutes. Although the map looks like it is close to the freeway (2 blocks away), there is a large wall to diminish noise; it is virtually undectable in my yard, and has no impact inside the house.

I purchased this home 5 years ago, because of its lovely updates, close-in location and extra-large yard.

Stephanie Wiarda purchased this Bungalow in 2011
Why Stephanie Wiarda chose North Tabor
This is a completely updated 1924 bungalow, so there are many comforts that can't be found in other older homes. The double lot in the middle of a city offers a lot of privacy that is not possible in homes with smaller lots. The two-car garage and quiet neighborhood clinched the deal when purchasing this home several years ago.
What makes this Bungalow unique
Very close access to everything Portland has to offer, and a beautiful environment in which to relax. 5-minute walk to the MAX train line.

Quiet neighborhood, cozy apartment
Spacious, clean as a whistle and packed with good reference books, maps and suggestions. NE Portland is a great sector of the city, with lots of older neighborhoods, wonderful small restaurants and easy to get around. We were here on two rainy days and couldn't have been cozier.
Beautiful basement apartment
The owners are on site and very kind and helpful. The apartment is clean and has all the immunities one would need. I had a wonderful stay and would recommend it to friends or family.
2nd stay, not the last
I would give it five stars, it clean comfortable and the decor is great. Stephanie is awesome. It is a basement apartment with a limited kitchen. It was perfect for us both times. We could hear sounds from the house above, but that never bothered us. It was close to everything when we came for a family wedding and when we came to see Billy Joel at the Moda Center . Had breakfast at The New Deal cafe both days, cute little neighborhood cafe, good food, nice people, loved it. We will be back!
Very comfortable and convenient.
Great stay! Would stay again!
A wonderful, peaceful and accommodating place to stay. Owners thought of all your needs and are most helpful with places to see. Very inviting stay and a definite to revisit. My husband and I stayed at both places on the property and they are both above a 10. Can't wait to come back!!
What a pleasure it is to host our great guests!! We do work at being both very available, or very invisible, depending on each person's wishes. It is especially fun to welcome people to how wonderful Oregon is.
Very wonderful stay at the bungalow! So nice to have a separate kitchen area and the bathroom was nice size! And the bed was super comfy!! Stephanie and Angelo were very welcoming! Would definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting Portland!
5 MINTUE WALK TO A MAX TRAIN LINE. TWO BLOCKS FROM GROCERY STORE. This close-in Portland home gives guests access to the hundreds of fantastic restaurants of every kind, and all of the other Portland attractions. It is a 7-minute walk to the MAX train which will have you to the NE Hollywood district, or NE Broadway, plus downtown, within 10 minutes. Mt Tabor Park is a 20-minute walk or 5 minute drive, full of gorgeous walks and views of both downtown and Mt Hood.
