Located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac across the street from the Kiawah marsh, my rental is situated on one of the most beautiful lots in the neighborhood with the most striking view of the lagoon. Windowed walls and deck access, found throughout the home, take full advantage of the view.

The open floor plan with plenty of shared living spaces is ideal for entertaining friends and family. A vaulted ceiling and lagoon view highlight the spacious living room. Adjacent to the main living area, a sitting room features access to the deck overlooking the lagoon.

A guest suite is at the first floor with a Queen size bed and a full bath. Fully equipped, the kitchen has a center island with seating and offers plenty of storage and preparation room.The adjacent dining area, with lagoon views and skylights, opens to the deck and gives the chef a beautiful space to relax while waiting for the proverbial pot to boil.The dinning area also opens to the media room. The media room has a full-size sleeper sofa which provides additional sleeping space if needed.

The Upstairs, the master suite is a comfortable suite with King size bed and features a bathtub, dual vanities, sky-line, separate shower, and closest. There are additional two bedrooms and a bonus room upstairs. The two bedrooms (2nd & 3rd), one with King size bed and the other with Queen size bed, share a full bath. The 3rd bedroom connects to the bonus room, which has two Full size beds and separate full bath, ideal for kids/teenagers room. The laundry room is also upstairs.

My rental is about 1.2 mile/10 minutes bike ride to the beach.

We used to live in Columbia, SC and we have two young children (Maggie and Bella). We love visiting Kiawah and Charleston. We have token Maggie bicycling, Kayaking, fishing, cracking and etc. since she was two year old, creating some lovely memories as a family. Why Jae Tang chose Vanderhorst Plantation

We fell in love with Kiawah on our very first visit to the island in the summer of 2012, and we were very blessed to have the property purchased in the winter of 2012. The house was originally built in 1985 and has a lot of its unique characters. Although some area of the house needs improvements, which we have slowly made some upgrades, such as the kitchen and flooring, we love it as it was.

My husband and I picked out all the furniture and accessories for the house, and we really enjoyed the process of decorating it.

What makes this house unique

You can grill at the deck while watching the alligator swimming around to say hi, and you can cast your line and catch some red fish, bream, crack... etc from the pond by the house.

Our stay was fantastic!  We really had a great time catching up with old friends, and everyone had wonderful and positive comments about finding the perfect house and the perfect location for our stay.  



We really appreciated the flexibility with earlier check-in and later check-out, it helped keep everyone relaxed.  I think the price point was perfect too.  If it had been much more we probably would not have booked, and for that price we felt the space was very accommodating for our sized group.  



I know many had mentioned they would've loved to use the kayaks, that would be a great bonus if you were ever able to work that out to be allowable for your guests (I'm sure it's a liability issue) - or perhaps store them elsewhere to avoid temptation.  We ran the dishwasher the morning we left in order to put all the dishes away before leaving (as instructed), but there was only one dishwasher cleaner tablet left.  It's such a small detail, I'm sure it's an easy oversight, but just a head's up for the next guests so they don't have to hand wash all the dishes they use.  I'm glad that didn't have to be us!   



Thank you so so much for you allowing us to stay at your home, it was such a pleasure and we'd book the same trip again in a heartbeat.

A WONDERFUL week at this WONDERFUL home in Kiawah!

This beautiful and cozy home was PERFECT for our family. The owners went WAY BEYOND any and all expectations to make sure we had a WONDERFUL week! We LOVE Kiawah and have been traveling to the island 2x/year for the past several years. We have stayed in many beautiful homes and dealt with many very nice owners/managers, but these are by far the nicest people we have ever rented from! This is our third time renting from them, and for sure will not be the last! The house is very spacious and has a very nice set up. It has lots os windows which offer BEAUTIFUL lagoon views from the living areas, kitchen and bedrooms. We were very, very pleased with everything and so grateful that you would share your beautiful home with us!

Nice house

This is a very beautiful and large house! The rooms are very clear and well decorated. Everything looks new and works well. I especially love the big kitchen and lagoon at the back of the house. We did BBQ and hot pot here. The location is great, close to the beach and the crabbing docks. It is very quite. Alligators make the island very special and unforgettable. We have 10 people and we have so much fun in this nice house. If you want to escape from the noisy and busy life , you should choose here to relax yourself. The owner is very helpful and easy to talk. She provided me many useful information. We will come back again!!!

Great Experience!

Lovely house!

The house is on a private island and located close to the beach.Clean and well maintained room, owners replied email quickly. Facilities are great, they even have the outdoor oven for barbecue. Great experience of staying there to spend the weekend with my friends

I will definitely recommended it to my friends.

Beautiful Home. Beautiful Island

This home was beautiful in so many ways. The rooms were spacious and well decorated. The back of the house with the lagoon was such a different location if you are not from the area. There really are alligators so heed the warnings and fish that leap right out of the water too! The first day we had 2 deer just walk right near the deck and into the woods. The Island of Kiawah is picture perfect and the beaches are beautiful. The water was so warm there is literally no shock when you wade into the ocean. Jae was so easy to work with (which is so important when you rent a home). Our air conditioning went on the fritz upstairs and the repair person was there within a couple hours to fix it. We would definitely rent again.

Lovely view and comfortable

The house comfortably slept 5 people with a lot of privacy with each having their own sleeping space. The view is gorgeous and relaxing, and you can watch wildlife from the dining room. Easy to get to, and a comfortable space. The owners is very responsive and accommodating. We picked up food and groceries in the Freshfields area. There are not a lot of places on the Island to eat, if you don't go to Freshfields. The house is very private and quiet. Super star owner and very pleasant. Great destination for golfers. About 45 minutes from downtown Charleston.

Great for large groups, but needs updates

Positives: First and foremost, the owners are really easy to work with, flexible, and thoughtful. This house was perfect for a large group and comfortably fit everyone. The kitchen was beautiful and there was tons of seating. Even though it wasn’t super close to the beach, it was an easy bike ride and not at all inconvenient. The view of the lagoon is absolutely beautiful and the location is quiet and peaceful. I would definitely stay there again.

Negatives: The second floor is very dated, stained carpets, and has a slight musty smell. When we arrived, it was not completely clean (although it was not terrible). None of the dishes or utensils were clean and the grill was full of grease and a fire hazard if used. The washer turned my white bathing suit black and must need to be cleaned. Most concerning are big cracks in the ceiling of the first floor that look like serious water damage.

I don’t say this to deter anyone from renting, as I had a great experience. But I hope the owners will address some of these concerns as I fear they will only becoming more problematic for tenants.

Owner's Response: Hi Diana, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at my house, and thank you for your detailed feedback. I wish you would have let me know your concerns during your stay, so I could have addressed them for you right then. My housekeeper usually does a very good job, but obviously she failed to clean the dishes, the grill and among others, I apologize for the cleaning issue. We use the smart device Nest for AC control, the AC was being off for quiet a few days before your arrival, and that was the reason for the "slight musty smell", but I will get the AC turned on manually before guest's arrival in the future. The water damage was old and has long been repaired; I will re-paint it to avoid confusion for future guests. Thank you very much for your feedback, and come back to visit Kiawah again soon.
