Guestbook comments from the owner

It was great! We went to Fredricksburg and to the Bell Winery. It is beautiful there and you were right about the drive. Thank you so much for letting us borrow your home. I hope we left everything the way you liked. If we ever make it back that way we will definitely be in contact! (I bought 6 bottles of wine on this trip). :)

Scenic & quaint, with access to plenty of outdoor water activities!

  • 5 of 5

We brought our family of 6 & 2 friends, 8 total, and they loved the island, where you can ferry over. Even the teens loved the little island adventure, to gather around bonfire & roast marshmallows. What quality time as family to gather & bond in such a peaceful & scenic area! The lake house provided charm & plenty of extra pillows, blankets, & towels too. Great sitting, eating, or game areas too, whether at large farm table, enclosed patio, or screened in sunroom. They have tons of books, like a library, & games (including ring & hook game). I enjoyed drinking coffee in morning, as sun rose, by wooden dock. The 2 person kayak was an extra bonus. Wish we had more time to spend!!!!

Your Grandparent’s Lakehouse

  • 4 of 5

It’s an old home built in 1974 that gives you that Brady Bunch feel. It felt just like my grandmother’s home on the river in Tennessee. The beds are huge and comfortable. Free use of their kayaks was awesome and we really enjoyed just paddling around on the glass lake. The town is quiet in the off season. The WiFi needs an upgrade but otherwise it’s just like your grandmother’s lakehouse. Lovely and quaint.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed our comfortable modern/retro vibe. We've upgraded much of the house without sacrificing the charm of spacious beds and furniture. We're always pleased that our guests tell us that they feel right at home. We're happy that you made good use of the kayak and we look forward to hosting you again.

Wonderful Lake House!!!

  • 5 of 5

We highly recommend this property! We stayed at the Lake House for Thanksgiving and had an amazing time! This location is amazing!! There are beautiful views and SO much to do! The house is very spacious, it was more than comfortable for our group of 5 adults and 3 children! Our family (myself, husband and kids ages 5, 3 and almost 1) met my in laws for Thanksgiving and had such a memorable time! This location is amazing and we loved "ferrying" over to the island everyday to swim and kayak. While taking our kids out to kayak we saw turtles, a buck, Osprey, Blue Heron, King Fishers, Cardinals, and so much more wildlife. The kids had an absolute blast and the adults did as well! We loved the ability to have Thanksgiving dinner thanks to a well equipped kitchen and SO many seating options! We ate Thanksgiving dinner on the screened in porch which was so special! Scott was such a wonderful host and so easy to communicate with. He offered any assistance we needed and made us feel like we were visiting friends. We would highly recommend this house for a lake getaway, adventure, a place for a family gathering, even a quiet couples getaway. It is such a great place and we look forward to returning!

Sidenotes: If you have small children and are concerned about being near water this house is great because the yard is huge so there is plenty of space before getting to the water and on the island there is a fantastic gradual beach area for kids to play easily.

The ferry is great, even our 5 year old could operate it with little assistance so it is a great way to get across if you do not want to get wet :)

This was our 2nd stay at this cottage. First visit was for a week and we enjoyed it so much we came back for a month. Scott and Jill are very attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. Cottage was super clean and our visit was so relaxing we did not want to leave. Best part of the cottage was the private island on the lake. Thank you so much for the much needed vacay.

Very comfortable home at a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

The home was very comfortable and spacious for our family. The location was very nice as the house overlooked a section of the lake that was undeveloped on the other side. Our family especially enjoyed the little "ferry" going across to the island, and the little beach on the island. With two young children, that was the place where we hung out the most. That section of the lake is not super wide so there can be waves from the boat traffic back and forth. What was nice is that with no bulkheads on either side, the waves quickly dissipate. We were able to enjoy all kinds of water activities. Scott and Jill made sure we were comfortable and the long weekend was very enjoyable.

Owner's Response: We're pleased that you noticed how the lake shorelines are natural in front of our house (rather than all concrete walls) to absorb any waves and so make the water smooth. Guests tell us they feel like they're at the beach as any moving water quickly becomes calm, and that's one of the reasons that they return to the lakehouse. It's the smoothest water on the lake and such a treat. And their ski boats are protected by our island when they dock at our seawall. Thanks for staying with us and we look forward to hosting your family again!

Loved the swimming area!

  • 5 of 5

The kids loved the beach on the little island. They could touch quite a ways out so we could relax and let them swim. The bottom is sandy so no lake mud!

Owner's Response: Sandy bottom feels so good on our toes, too! It's like being at the beach, but with a bonus of nice mountains to view. We enjoyed hosting your families and look forward to next time.
