This studio condo is freshly updated and conveniently located. We just added air conditioning for your comfort. If you're tired of paying for a high priced hotel but want the luxury of having your own kitchen in a great location, then this Kona West studio could be for you. The remodeled kitchen has new appliances, cupboards, sink & counter tops, sorry no dishwasher. The full sized bathroom has also been completely remodeled. With a comfy queen sized Murphy bed, there's plenty of space to relax after sightseeing or a day at the beach. The unit is equipped with cable TV, 42' LCD flat screen TV with DVR. Player for your ipod as well as wireless internet (wifi) are provided. Other amenities include beach towels, beach chairs, cooler & full sized fridge in the kitchen. The Kona West complex has a small pool, gas BBQ area, coin laundry facility & plenty of on site parking.

This studio condo is convenient to all that Kona has to offer. In fact, if you've been to the Big Island previously and just want to 'chill' this time, you don't even need a car. It's just a short walk to the grocery store, shops, restaurants, farmer's market & even the beach. If you're in town for business, vacation or to train for Ironman, this is a great location!

Why GAYLE M. chose Kailua-Kona

We chose to live at Kona West because of it's ideal location to so many things we like to do without having to get in the car and drive. Whether it's outrigger canoe paddling, snorkeling, surfing, dining, shopping or just relaxing on the beach, it's all a short walk away from here. The Ironman Triathlon starts just a few hundred yards away, making this an ideal place to watch or train for it. The iconic Mokuaikaua Church sits right off the lanai with its soothing carrillion chimes sounding off the time every hour in the tropical breeze. Snorkel or swim at Kamakahonu beach, stroll with your morning coffee along the seawall and out to the pier or go out to breakfast at one of the many picturesque restaurants on Ali'i Drive. Sit out on the lanai and look up to the east at Hualalai volcano or west at Hulihe'e Palace and the blue pacific through the palm trees. If you feel active jump into the ocean and swim along the buoy marked swim course for Ironman or walk a few blocks down the street and lap swim at the Kona Aquatic Center. Play a game of tennis at the Kona public courts or do some rollerblading out at the Old Airport. All within walking distance of the neighborhood.

Great location, good size for a couple, but lacks privacy.

Good for a single person or a couple looking for an inexpensive, no frills stay in the heart of Kona.

Location: 5 -- Just a few steps away from great restaurant options and the pier.

Price: 5 -- Felt like a very good deal for the area.

Cleanliness: 3 -- Mildew-y shower curtain needs to be replaced; lots of dust on the bathroom vent and fan. Let property manager know so hopefully both will be fixed!

Comfort: 3 -- Couch was pretty stiff. Disappointed by the very lumpy bed pillows with some interesting red stains on them :( We ran out to Target and bought 2 new pillows for $5.99 each and the stay was much more comfortable after that. Time to invest in new pillows!

Hospitality: 3 -- The local on contact and onsite manager were both very nice and helpful, but the the list of house rules was quite intense and didn't make us feel super welcome (lots of "do this or you will be charged!" language). We hadn't expected that we would be required to wash our beach towels before checking out. With a laundry area that's only open from 7am-9pm we had to scramble a bit to make that happen, working around an early departure morning and dinner plans we had with family the night before check out.

Privacy: 2 -- It should also be noted in the listing that this a 1st floor apartment with the front door right at the resident entry & mailbox area. To get a good airflow through the apartment you need to open the front door and the door to the lanai, but then people walking by or picking up mail and can see straight through the whole apartment. Also even with the lanai shade down, you can still see people going to their cars in the parking lot (which is the view from the lanai). So basically people walking by, picking up their mail, and parking their cars can all see everything going on in your space (you pretty much have to change clothes in the bathroom if you don't want anyone to see you). It's also right on the main road and across from a gas station, so it feels a bit exposed. It wasn't that big of a deal since we were only there a few days, but it would have been nice to have a better description of how the space looked.

Owner's Response: I have personally stayed in this condo a few times and I Never Felt Exposed. This Guest must be overly sensitive as if you are changing clothes, Close the Front door. Yes this is a ground floor unit on the front door side but The screened in Lanai she refers to is 12 Feet off the ground and above the Parking Lot so there is No Way anyone can see what you are doing on the inside of the condo. If you are eating at the table on the lanai next to the outside screen then you might be seen but most people eat in their clothes while on any Lanai. The idea that she wants it detailed right down to how many feet it is from the parking lot and mailboxes is absurd. This condo has been a Rental for several years and this is the first guest to complain about the things she wrote in her review so I encourage you to try it out for yourself. Gayle - Agent

Very clean, comfortable and convienient.

We have been to Hawaii several times and have stayed in condos before. This was our first trip to the Big Island. We wanted to be central to what the island had to offer and feel comfortable. This condo was perfectly suited to that. Not only is it clean and comfortable but is so well equipped you can move right in. We were there for 2 weeks and had the opportunity to do many adventures as well as spend time relaxing at the pool. We met many of the neighbours and the property manager was avaialable to answer any questions we had. It's location is perfect for beach and shopping access, plenty of restaurants in walking distance and live music. It is not as large as some condos available but the fact that is so complete and comfortable makes up for it. You can enjoy your morning coffee and watch the sunrise from your lanai and BBQ your dinner from the pool deck and watch the sunset.

The complex itself is well maintained, clean and you feel safe. There is plenty of free parking.

Well Thank You, this would be by far the best condo we have stayed in in the years we have been coming to Kona.

Close to the pier and shops etc.

Clean and comfy will book again we we return.
