About Ronda Hamilton

When not staying in the Phinney Cottage we can often be found traveling the world or staying at our country property outside Seattle. We enjoy traveling and often stay in vacation rentals ourselves.

Ronda Hamilton purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Ronda Hamilton chose Seattle

After falling in love with the Phinney neighborhood we purchased the cottage in 2007. We thoroughly enjoy the area and still stay in the house often.

What makes this cottage unique

Location and comfort! We stay regularly at the cottage ourselves so it is very important to us that it is truly a 'home' to you when you are there.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wanted to thank you for a WONDERFUL cottage to stay in for our time

in Seattle! My family had a perfect vacation and we loved staying in

your home in Phinney! Was a great location, perfect amenities,

comfortable home! We loved it and hope that we can visit in the

future! My brother's in the area -- so he's happy to be our tour guide

when we come!

Thanks again for everything!

Cutest Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cottage by Greenlake. The owners were very helpful with restaurant and cafe suggestions as well.

Everything was clean, organized and comfy. We will stay here again and never use a hotel in Seattle now that we have this special place.

The neighborhood was quiet, the lake nearby was super fun to ride the bikes to and people watch and Phinney Ridge up the hill had cafe's and restaurants so you don't have to go far. We like Fremont and Ballard and so the location was perfect for us-easy to get to both areas.

Owner's Response: Hi Sonya. I loved hearing from you when you went to some of the restaurant’s I recommended. Food in this town is good and there are so many places to try! I’m happy to hear you had a splendid visit to your old home town and that you will try more vrbos! My husband and I love to stay in them all over the world. A house beats a hotel just about every time!

A perfect stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay at this cottage up north! It was relatively easy to figure out how to go downtown, and apart from that, there were a lot of interesting places nearby!

Everything from the booking went quite smoothly. The rooms were very clean and cozy. It's really just a lovely little place as it really did feel like a home. We'd definitely recommend staying there, and I am considering staying here again if I get the chance!

Spotlessly clean.

Had everything we needed and it all worked.

Very comfortable – great beds and felt right at home in older house.

House stayed cool even when it was 85 degrees out. (The A/C is a window unit mostly behind the sofa in the living room but the house felt air conditioned without it being on.)

Nice location – easy walk to park by the lake and close to Greenwood Ave with shops and restaurants. (Very steep hill to get to Greenwood. If young or in good shape you could walk. We drove.)

Street parking was easy. Only once during the week did we have to park more than 1 or 2 doors away and even then, not far.

Well laid out – seemed bigger than it was. It was just the 2 of us some of the time but even the days we were 3 and 4, we didn’t feel closed in.

Ample closet space.

Full size washer/dryer.

Loved the back yard and the front porch!

Loud security beep in bedroom when front or back door opened which was very inconvenient for jet lagged people on different schedules.

Classic Seattle Craftsman

  • 5 of 5

With its hardwood floors, high ceilings and vintage features, this beautiful craftsman is both comfortable and rich in character, offering a trip back in time to classic Seattle - pre-software, pre-population surge. The street outside is dead quiet, and the neighborhood is, in itself, something of an attraction, as it's filled with many other beautiful homes dating to the early 20th century. Parking is on the street, but we never had issues finding a space close to, if not directly across from, the house.

The owners provided clear info on the house: directions, access details, wifi details, and notes on local attractions and dining options. Our daughter was especially excited about the toybox and children's book collection in her bedroom. She also enjoyed the "secret passage" (closet) linking the two bedrooms.

We'd highly recommend this property as a VRBO selection.

Some pointers:

- the garbage & recycling containers are out front, on the sidewalk, just north of the property line

- Google Beth's Cafe, an outstanding breakfast choice within walking distance

- make time to walk to the park surrounding Green Lake

- for a quick add-on to your itinerary, make the short drive from the house to the Ballard Locks, which is both fascinating and free (and you get to see cool boats up close)

Cute cottage, well equipped, great location very good value.

  • 5 of 5

Had a great birthday visit with our Seattle daughter. The cottage was our base. We hosted two dinners at the cottage with our daughters and their partners. The cottage was very well equipped and has a great outdoor space including a newer grill and patio furniture. We also used the owners recommendations for a market and Mexican restaurant and both were winners. We have rented in the area several times and would definitely come back here.

Location is the best of this house

  • 3 of 5

House is clean but needing some upgrades and updates in some things like the mattress of the second bedroom. Everything related to bathroom and appliances worked fine.

Have the feeling that price is on the high side.

Ronda was very nice and replied immediately to every mail and request we had.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review. I will definitely put buying a new mattress for the 2nd bedroom on my list for updating (which we do every fall). Hope you enjoyed visiting Seattle!

Green Lake Park
Car: recommended

Dragonfly cottage is located part of the way up the Green Lake side of Phinney Ridge. This neighborhood is full of traditional craftsman family homes about 5-10 minutes north of the downtown core by car. Seattle Center including the Experience Music Project, Science Fiction Museum and Space Needle can be reached quickly. The Seattle waterfront is less than 10 minutes by car as well.

On top of the ridge you'll find great bars and restaurants including Oliver's Twist, Chupacabra and assorted others. Woodland Park Zoo is about 10 blocks north of the house.

Green Lake park is a short 3 minute walk from the house and has a running and biking trail around it which makes for a great morning or evening outing.
