Dew Drop Cottage 4: Classic Waterfront Cape on the Harbor of Maine Coastal Village

Bedrooms 4
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 - 180 nights

About the property

4 Bedroom, 2 Bath, Sleeps 6

Diana's Dew Drop 4: Warm and inviting, this charming old cape right on the coast of Maine has been beautifully renovated into a delightful mix of old and new! Equipped with all the modern touches, you’ll have that feeling of getting away from it all without having to give up any comforts of home. The well-lit kitchen has a small table by the window overlooking the water. It’s a perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee or play a game of cards. There is a larger table in the center of the room with seating for four, a refrigerator and a cook stove with oven. You’ll also find a microwave, a Keurig coffee maker, toaster, blender and ample kitchen gadgets for whatever you decide to create. There is plenty of counter and cupboard space.

Off the kitchen you enter the living room which has a large sectional couch, windows facing the harbor, shelves filled with books and games, two end tables, a rocking chair and a flat screen television with cable and a DVD/Blu-ray combo. After a day of exploring the local beach, visiting the two art galleries, and picnicking at the Marshall Point Lighthouse, this room is the perfect size and has all the right amenities for your entire family to gather, relax and reflect on the excitement of the day, and to continue it with some games or a movie night.

The first bedroom has a queen sized pillow top bed, two end tables with lamps, a large dresser and shaded windows.

Next, you come to the bathroom, which has a toilet, shower and bathtub, vanity sink with mirror and a laundry station with high-efficiency washer and dryer.

Upstairs you come to the second bedroom, which has a full sized pillow top bed with two end tables with lamps, a large dresser, and windows with a harbor view.

The next upstairs bedroom has a beautiful vanity dressing table, a full-sized bed with pillow top mattress, an end table with a lamp and a dresser. This room has its own private deck with Adirondack chairs to enjoy the evening air and the water view. It is also an ideal spot for a glass of wine after the kids are sleeping.

There is a second bathroom, which has a bathtub and shower, toilet, and a vanity sink with mirror. There is a linen closet right outside of this bathroom.

The final bedroom has two twin sized beds, a shared nightstand, and a floor lamp. There is a dressing table with mirror and a dresser.

Outside, there is a large, shared lawn that expands down to the water's edge and an old boathouse with comfortable seating for evening cocktails and sunsets. After a day of exploring the local beach, visiting the two galleries, and picnicking at the Marshall Point Lighthouse, this private space is ideal for relaxing and reflecting on the excitement of the day and continuing it with a glass of wine and the sounds and sights of the ocean. During the day you’ll have lots of fun playing some of the games provided such as ladder ball, bocce ball, lawn darts or bean bag toss, to name a few!

Being in the heart of Port Clyde you’ll enjoy great views all around, walk to the Village Ice Cream for dessert, the General Store for groceries or supplies, The Dip Net for an incredible meal, Squid Ink Coffee for your favorite pastry or brew, a tour of the Maine Wyeth Gallery, or an informative Wyeth by Water lobster boat tour! We truly have something for everyone! For your convenience, there are 3 churches located in the Port Clyde area: Port Clyde Christian Church, Port Clyde Baptist Church and the Ridge Church, which offers Bible studies by appointment.

Provided for your convenience are initial supplies of the following: linens, bath towels, washcloths, hand towels and beach towels, your first tank of propane for the gas grill, dish soap, dishwashing soap, hand soap, laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, basic cable, wireless internet and a home phone (long distance is not included). While we make every effort to assure the accuracy of this listing, as well as the condition of equipment and quality of provided services, we make no implied guarantee of connectivity for wireless internet or services provided by a third party. That being said, we will do everything in our power to remedy any situation as quickly as possible, and we thank you for your understanding.

Here are some things people visiting Maine need to know in advance:

Cell phones: Although coverage is getting better, there are some places where cell phones don't get good reception. Chances are you will have service, but just in case, make sure you leave the number of the house you are renting with those who may need to get in touch with you. Coverage with AT&T can be spotty in many areas of Maine.

Weather: If you have heard it once, you've heard it a hundred times: if you don't like the weather in New England, wait a minute. It can be hot in Rockland and cool in Port Clyde so make sure to pack a variety of clothes — from a bathing suit to a sweater for cool evenings. Check out the current local weather at

Bugs: A lot of people ask us if we have mosquitoes...we sure do. But they aren't huge and they don't ruin a vacation. Bring some repellent, or pick some up at the local general stores and you will be fine; usually, you won't even notice them.

Dogs: We love dogs around here, but each town has their own rules about pets. Make sure to look for signs stating if dogs are allowed and always have them on a leash. And if they leave behind anything, please pick it up. Not a fun surprise when you are exploring the beautiful shoreline. You can also be fined for not picking up after your four-legged friend.

Raccoon's, and other annoyances: You probably have them too, but raccoons can make you regret last night's lobster dinner. No one wants to pick up old, smelly shells that have been cast out onto the lawn by these cute, but curious and disastrously messy, little guys. So please don't put off placing the trash in the secure trashcans provided. You can find all of this information in the welcome book!

Water: Most coastal homes have wells that are hand dug. The water has been tested and is safe to drink, but some guests prefer bringing bottled water. Particulates, discoloration, and iron taste are not uncommon.

As part of our rental application, we do ask for two references from previous rental companies/agents/homeowners etc.

Diana's Dew Drop 4 is a Saturday to Saturday rental from June 1st through September 30th.

Long-term renters in our off-season, which is from October 1st through May 31st, are responsible for paying all utilities in addition to their lease amounts. We also require a background check and references on all long-term guests.

Maine, the way life should be!

  • 5 of 5

That's what the sign says when you cross into Maine at the border of NH. This is the place they are talking about. Port Clyde is a sweet spot and Dew Drop Cottage is everything you'd want a cottage to be in Maine....including fabulous sunsets!

A great place, a great location, a great vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had six people ages 76-11 years old. The home was just that: a home. It was clean, charming, spacious, well appointed, and we didn’t have a want for anything. Everything we wanted was there and included. It did exceed our every expectation.

The town of Port Clyde was welcoming and had everything we wanted: food, groceries, rental equipment, lobsters, and people in the neighborhood who welcomed us like old friends.

Linda Bean, the owner, has helped invigorate the infrastructure of the area with commerce and rental properties, which makes it a wonderful place for vacationers.

Book today. Don’t hesitate. Don’t miss out on this tremendous gem on Maine’s shore.

Home Sweet Home

  • 5 of 5

Everything about Dew Drop III is special from the moment you arrive until you sadly depart. It is pristine, classic, and the sunsets are the topper. Working with Veronika, the manager for the property is the first intro to just how lovely and accommodating your vacation will be, she is a delight and goes out of her way to have the properties in first rate condition on your arrival. I would definitely recommend any of the properties of Linda Beans Vacation Rentals. I will be returning again and again summers to Dew Drop III, my home away in Maine.
