Guestbook comments from the owner

Left on May 8, 2017 for a stay in May 2017 on Tripadvisor:

My wife and I stayed 2 nights at Baytown Suites and had a great time. The Mackey's are wonderful people and were very helpful and provided good tips regarding the local establishments. The room was clean and spacious and best of all a great value. We love Traverse City and we would definitely stay here again.

Bay Town Suite - TC's best kept secret!

  • 5 of 5

Our second visit was equally impressive as the first! A meticulously kept suite offered a great bed, great shower and great hosts! We enjoyed our morning coffee on the backyard deck and an evening campfire to end one of our beautiful boating days! Jody and Norm are the perfect hosts and their recommendations for dining and activities are to be respected! We so enjoyed the Rove winery... the view really is beautiful and the Chardonnay is special! The location is perfect for walking or biking to town. We loved dinner at the Cook's House and the Heirloom tomato salad was a special treat! Go and enjoy a great stay at the Bay Town Suite!!!

Our stay could not have been more comfortable. The suite is gorgeous. The location is outstanding. The nearby beach is beautiful. The bikes and kayaks are the cherry on top. Most of all, Jody and Norm are excellent hosts. I just want to go back!

A Gem in Traverse City

  • 5 of 5

We spent three nights at Bay Town Suite and didn't want to leave! The owners have created a beautiful, comfortable, and friendly place to stay. They have a knack for anticipating and providing everything a guest could need to feel comfortable and at home.

We had a great first impression when we walked into the suite and saw how spacious, bright, clean, and nicely decorated it is. Staying here feels like staying in a deluxe hotel suite, but with the peacefulness and personal touches that a hotel lacks. It also feels nicer than a B&B, thanks to the privacy, the quiet, and being the only guests.

We especially liked waking up to natural light under a skylight, the large windows with nice views, the cozy fireplace, the convenience of a fridge and microwave, the spaciousness of the bathroom, and the comfy couch.

We also appreciated the great location and nice neighborhood. The proximity to downtown and the bay makes for an easy walk to the shops, restaurants, and theaters, as well as to the nearby beach.

Jody and Norm, the owners, are friendly, welcoming, and easygoing - we had helpful communication via email and phone, as well as great conversations in person.

We're already looking forward to visiting again in the warmer weather and enjoying the bikes, kayak, and patio.

We very much enjoyed celebrating our anniversary at Jody and Norm's rental.

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is one big main room with a king sized, comfortable bed and a nicely-sized bathroom. The entrance is from a common hallway and you are able to come and go without depending on your hosts. And what a great location - a few blocks from a beautiful public beach and park, and about a mile from downtown Traverse City which we have always loved. We could have used our host’s bikes but it was an enjoyable walk for our dog and Traverse City is so “dog-friendly.” The neighborhood you walk through to go downtown is very beautiful -- filled with old, grand houses. We took in great movies at the renovated State Theater and the even newer Bijou on the Bay. We tried many new, great restaurants (mostly following Jody's recommendations – which were very reliable) and visited some old favorites. (Totally destroyed our diet but we were on vacation!). We loved how our room had windows pretty much taking up two sides but, at the same time, heavy slatted blinds so we could sleep in late (very quiet in our room)… or get up early to have coffee on the patio while our 80 pound Great Dane/Labrador-mix sniffed and frolicked. Norm and Jody were exceptionally kind and helpful (thanks, Norm, for rescuing us by re-charging my car battery – and also for the Blue Moon while we waited). They have lead fascinating lives and are great to talk to – congenial and laid-back. Highly recommended.
