Relaxation by the sea
We chose this property primarily for its unobstructed ocean views and they were simply beautiful! We loved being right there on the beach and were situated high up enough to enjoy our privacy while we relaxed together. The 10-15 minute drive from Mill Valley was winding and green, with lots to see there as well. Besides the ocean's beauty, there were gorgeous flowers and trees everywhere to be enjoyed. We stayed for 2 nights in early April (a belated 15th-anniversary celebration) and fell asleep to the calming rush of the surf each night, waking to the same enchanting sound each morning. We were able to cook our favorite foods just as we would at home, enjoying leisurely breakfasts and conversation while watching the beach come alive.
Our idea of a great vacation at this point in life is to have time away with nothing much to do but enjoy one another's uninterrupted company - this was our perfect retreat. We loved watching the many birds soaring, swooping, and diving, as well as several playful dogs with their owners each morning. Beach access is easy and there were several wetsuited surfers trying to catch some waves one day. The North American bird book and tide book were both useful and appreciated. My husband is a hobby photographer and captured many lovely images of the flowers, birds, waves, passing ships, tidal changes and more. There was so much available within a short driving or walking distance (including Muir Woods, one of our favorite places) yet we felt we were hidden away from all the cares of the world. Despite that sense of pleasant isolation, we had a good wifi connection which was great for sharing photos with our daughter who was staying with friends.
Our trip was short but we appreciated the recommendations from the owner for sightseeing, restaurants etc. and enjoyed a tasty dinner at one of the restaurants he mentioned. He communicated very well, being responsive to questions and very accommodating and kind, which enhanced the pleasure of our stay. The temperature was mild to chilly (depending on the time of day) and we enjoyed both the cool ocean breezes and the toasty living room fireplace - my husband is a champion fire-builder from way back. There's not much we would change, although we agreed with another reviewer that it would be fun to have a spotting scope to help look for sea life and watch the passing ships. We hope to return someday and make even more memories in this little hideaway by the sea.
Very relaxing place on the beach with panoramic views
Amazing quaint house on the ocean
The place was lovely, breath taking views of the ocean. The owner was responsive with any questions.
Slice of paradise!
This hidden gem exceeded our expectations! I don’t think it’s possible to find a better view! This is beachfront at its finest!
If your looking for a romantic get away to spend some q time with your spouse or a quiet get away alone! This is the spot! The view is breathtaking the sounds of the waves crashing are pleasant to the ears! The smell of the crisp- fresh- ocean air is amazing!
We will be back!
My husband and I stayed here for a romantic getaway. It was perfect. The ocean view was spectacular. The house was clean and nicely furnished. We hope to return soon!
Spectacular vistas- unspeakable beauty everywhere you look
This property has unobstructed views that are just exquisite! You are on the beach!! We stayed 5 nights in early January. The 10 minute drive from Mill Valley is breathtaking..very curvy (!) but just gorgeous, changing each time we drove it w different times of the day, varying light, fog, or mist. The vegetation in the area is so varied, from little plants to the huge trees- It surprised me that it rivaled the ocean sounds & vistas. Did I mention the wafts of Eucalyptus??! We loved the surf that you can hear anywhere in the house. Watching dogs & people play on the beach, little campfires dotting the beach at night. Spot on recommendations from the owner for sightseeing, hikes and restaurants. We did not use the hot tub even tho it looked inviting. Gorgeous surroundings within walking or short driving distance, so this location is just perfect. Owner communicates very well, timely, accurate info, but w a personal touch, caring about his property but wants to share it. I just love that. Mild temperature but fireplaces great for the slightest chill to the air- we used the one in the living room- firewood, newspaper & kindling all there. One thing that would be amazing at the house is a Spotting Scope to look for sealife and watch ships. I hope we can return some day.
Muir Woods National Monument - about one mile away.
