Texas A&M 'Aggie' owned and operated by Teddy & Brian White, lifelong Texans. We fell in love with this part of Texas over 30 years ago and opened this beautiful cabin in 2008.
Teddy White purchased this cabin in 2007
The abundant wildlife including a famous variety of birds, axis deer, whitetail deer, turkey and much more draw bird watchers, hikers, bikers and nature enthusiasts including us to this rural escape to nature.
Our cabin is surrounded by hills in every direction, the views are breathtaking. Only the sounds of nature can be heard. The night sky is huge and full of stars! A night by the fire pit includes a fantastic show of nature's sights and sounds that seem to be just for you!
Enjoyed great family time. Cabin was spacious, clean and best of all we had the whole place to ourselves..we will definitely be booking the place again in the near future....Thanks Teddy!!
We spent three amazing days and nights at this property. The drive alone was worth it through some of hill country's most amazing roads and views. The property sits next to a wonderful, fun spot on the river where you can spend your days swimming, relaxing, fishing, or swinging from one of the two rope swings. The water is cool and clear. We grilled on the grill every day and loved just sitting outside.
We spent our nights outside, in awe of the many stars visible. We even watched the moon rise above the mountains every night listening to all the awesome sounds of nature.
The cabin itself is basic, but it gives you all you need. The kitchen is stocked with utensils, plates, cups, etc. There were ten of us on this trip and we fit comfortably in the cabin.
We did leave the cabin to go float the Frio. It is about a 45 min amazing drive from the property. It is fairly rual there. The closest major grocery store is 44 miles away so plan your trip accordingly. Granted, there is a dollar general in Barksdale (about seven miles) to get essentials you may have forgotten at the grocery store. It's not close or convinient to civilization, but it's a perfect get away.
All in all, we had a wonderful time and Teddy was a fabulous host. We would recommend this to anyone.
We all had a great time on our weekend. The house was well stocked and maintained, as was the yard and river front. We spent much of our time outside in the shade and relaxing at the river. In the evening we enjoyed s'mores in our campfire and the beautiful night sky.
I highly recommend this retreat home for anyone wanting to get away from it all. We had a great nights sleep on the comfortable beds and did not want for a thing in the kitchen. The washer and dryer are a great asset as well. We did have access to wifi and tv, but enjoyed the great outdoors and fresh air.
We had great customer service and owner was only a phone call away.
This is my second time at this retreat and would love to return for a third time.
My group had a GREAT time at the White Ranch River Retreat! Everything was fantastic. The home was very clean, and stocked with everything that we needed. We LOVED being able to walk down to the water, to swim and fish; the water was very clear and clean. The owner was nice enough to allow us to bring our dogs; our dogs loved being able to run around the very spacious property. The provided grill was great for grilling up plenty of food, and stargazing at night while sitting around in the firepit was a delight. This is a special place, that has something to do for the entire family; we absolutely loved it. Thank you Teddy!
I WOULD LIKE TO THANK TEDDY FOR LETTING US ENJOY HER VACATION HOME. IT WAS OUR BEST VACATION WE EVER HAD. EVERYRHING WAS GREAT THE HOUSE WAS VERY CLEAN AND WELL STOCKED THE TV, wifi, BOARD GAMES, FLOATS huge +++. THE OUTSIDE WAS VERY NICE THE FIRE PIT THATS WHERE WE SPENT OUR NIGHTS LOOKING AT THE STARS. THE HOUSE VIEWS WHERE PHENOMENAL THE MOUNTAINS AND ALL THE NATURE HAS TO OFFER. THE RIVER WAS THE BEST THING, THE WATER WAS CRYSTAL CLEAR YOU COULD SEE THE FISH SWIMMING IN FRONT OF YOU IT HAD SHALLOW WATERS WHERE KIDS COULD SWIM WITH NO PROBLEM AND IT HAD SPOTS WHERE IT WAS DEEP FOR ROPE JUMPING AND DIVING WE HAD A BLAST. WE CANT WAIT TO COME BACK ON THE SUMMER.
We had a FANTASTIC time staying at this property!! The property was clean, spacious, and comfortable. We had camp fires at night, and also games in the house. As many of us as there was, there was plenty of diversified activities to interest everyone!!!
We will try to book time there every time we are in the area!!
