Squaw Valley Truckee River Estate
Just 2 miles from Squaw Valley Ski Resort.
Over the bridge and down the river from Squaw Valley is a beautiful example of an 'old style' Truckee River home, located at river's edge. Go to sleep to the sound of the river and awaken to start your hike, bike or run from right outside your door. From the kitchen and dinning rooms, one gazes up the river canyon, scouting river activity. The deck and hot tub are perched above the river. Imagine soaking under the stars while listening to the sounds of the raging water? The living room is large, perfect for a gathering around a wood stove. There are two cozy master suites downstairs each with king size bed, three charming bedrooms upstairs with flexible bedding arrangements and three and a half bathrooms. The neighborhood is private and quiet. Perfect for long walks in the woods. 'The River House' is a unique mountain experience!
The generous farmhouse kitchen has a cozy breakfast nook, skylights, wood floors and an adjoining formal dining room overlooking the river, perfect for casual family style dinners or elegant affairs. There's a private washer/dryer accessible through a covered walkway.
Parking for 5 cars, including the attached carport. Oh, and the fly fishing is outstanding...but don't tell anyone :)

Fall asleep to the sound of the river!
Great river house! Nice layout for large groups. Tons of space in common areas. We didn't do any cooking but the kitchen was very well equipped if need be. We only had 3 in our group so never used the upstairs. The downstairs was perfect for my husband and I and my sister in law to have private sleeping and bathroom areas on opposite ends of the house.
Convenient to Squaw Valley and Tahoe City for shopping and dining.
Nice, quiet neighborhood and the deck is so close to the river. Made for beautiful morning coffee and evening drinks!
Old school Tahoe charm
This property is in an amazing location just a few feet from the truckee river and only 2 miles from squaw valley and 8 miles from tahoe city. It is so peaceful yet so close to everything that makes the lake tahoe area special. The house is completely stocked with everything you need from spices and condiments professional cook ware ,and range, dishes and serving trays, towels and extra blankets. The house is decorated with items that give you a feel of the rich history of the time period the house represents. We could not have been more happy with our choice. Thank you Jim and Lucinda for letting us stay at your home and enjoy true old school Tahoe luxury and comfort. FIVE STARS!!!
Thank you for your great review! We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Fantastic spot for a ski vacation
We love this house. It didn't hurt that the weather and ski conditions were perfect! It's a funky, really well-equipped rental with a swell hot tub, a great working kitchen and a spacious but comfy living room. The location is a huge bonus if you are skiing at Squaw or Alpine. We'll be back...
Great River House, Perfect Location Near Squaw/Alpine
This is a great house right next to the turn in off 89 for Squaw, just on the other side of the river.
It has 5 large bedrooms and a large layout, perfect for big groups. We had only 5 in our party so everyone got their own room, but this place could easily handle much more and still not feel cramped.
The decor seemed a bit rustic at 1st, but the beds are very comfortable and everything worked fine. We loved the wood burning stove in the family room and there was lots of dry wood provided. The house is well equipped with anything you would need, brand new high end laundry equipment, pots/pans/utensils. I had 1 issue with the master fireplace/heater and the owner was out there and had it fixed all within a few hrs from my email. Superb customer service !!
Good price, great location, oh and its RIGHT on the Truckee river, which is incredibly scenic ! We had 30" of fresh snow so the river looked amazing, many great pictures taken and the hot tub sits 20' from the river! We were fly fishing in the Truckee each morning, it was surreal. Didnt catch anything as the river has been dry in recent years, but lets be honest I usually dont catch anything fly fishing so we cant fault the owner on that! You cant find this set up very often, I would not hesitate to rent this place again!
Faults ? Not many. Only thing I could say if I had to was when we arrived after all that snow, there was quite a bit of shoveling to do. However, the storm came in just before we got there so not sure what the owners could of done. Thanks to my brother for getting there early from Denver to clear the walk coming into the place and the back porch to the hot tub.
I would highly recommend this place. Dont expect uber modern decor, its period correct North Lake Tahoe at a great price/location and on a beautiful river! What more can you ask ?
Wonderful large group river home
My sister's family and mine spent three nights at this terrific home over President's Day weekend. Here are some of our favorite aspects of the place:
-Jim, the property manager: He's a lovely man who made sure everything was fine for us. Also, we had a sudden plumbing emergency and because he lives right across the street, he came right over and took care of it!
-the kitchen: Bright and sunny, lots of counter space, every kitchen item you could need or want.
-the dining room: Plenty of comfortable seating for all of us at dinner.
-the site: Beautiful views from the kitchen, dining room, living room, bedrooms! Absolutely gorgeous right on the river, especially during snowy winter!
-living room: This was amazing. So many great, comfy places to sit. We were able to all hang out in the evenings together even though some were watching tv, some knitting, some reading, some snoozing...we ALL loved have this big space to be together in and yet not feel cramped or on top of each other.
-bedrooms: Copious beds, two master suites (great for two families), comfortable beds and ample bathrooms
-location: Great spot so close to Squaw and Alpine. Our families avoided the crowds at Squaw and went to Alpine instead. A quick drive, less than 10 minutes away.
Downsides...there are only two downsides to this place. One was that there's a change in elevation from the kitchen/dining room to the living room and it's not intuitive so several of us tripped going into the living room (which actually meant we tripped and *fell* into the living room!). And the other was that the hearth for the wood stove juts into the living room right in the path from one of the master bedrooms to the kitchen. One of us was walking through the room and stubbed her toe on the edge of the hearth, causing pretty nasty injury. It's not a mistake we wanted anyone else to make so we blocked it off with chairs, but these two areas felt like hazards that could probably be dealt with with some brightly colored paint or carpeting.
Thank you for the great house! Everything was excellent with the property and we had no issues at all. The location was perfect for the last Ironman Tahoe event. It would have been better to have the river flowing more but the owners don't quite have that much pull with the weather and environment. Would stay here again if I am in the area with a big group.
