Bellaire / Intermediate Lake Log Cabin, Mid-August weeks discounted!

Bedrooms 3
Space 836 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 7)

This rustic log cabin is the perfect northern Michigan retreat for you. It is rustic, yet clean and comfortable. You will feel like you are 'up north.' The cabin sits on 203 feet of secluded frontage. There are no homes directly to the south and a wooded barrier to the north. Most of the opposite shoreline is undeveloped. In the morning, you will hear the loons on the lake. You will enjoy beautiful views of the lake during the day and on those moonlit summer nights.

In addition to the beautiful frontage, there are several championship golf courses, restaurants, wineries, and quaint shops nearby. Traverse City is just 40 minutes away and Charlevoix is only 20 minutes away.

Intermediate Lake is an all sports lake. The lake is six miles long and offers excellent fishing for smallmouth, largemouth, walleye, pike and panfish. In addition, it offers great watersport activities. It is the southern most lake in the upper chain of lakes. This lake warms up much faster than some of the surrounding bigger lakes. It runs parallel to Torch lake. Torch lake is listed as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.

This property has a swim platform, nice stable dock, lawn furniture, picnic table, and a fire pit. A row boat is available for guest use. We have a great beach area with lots of sand for the kids. The lake bottom is sandy with no weeks. The beach offers a gradual drop off. The bottom is 5' deep at the end of the dock (72 feet out). All in all, it offers great swimming for the kids. Sorry but pets are not allowed.

Also, we have a newer 15' crestliner fishing boat with a 4 stroke 25hp engine available for rent. This boat is a fishing machine with scotty rod holders, live well, casting deck and many more great options. In addition, we have kayaks available to rent. Please ask about the details and pictures if interested in either of these.

New for 2016 will be a stand up paddle board available to rent.

Wireless Internet is available.

Perfect family cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a week at this cottage with our two oldest grandchildren (both are 10 years old). They had a blast swimming to and jumping off of the swim platform...all day long. We enjoyed watching the loons and the swans. It became a game of who could predict where the loon would surface after it dove under the water, as they surface several yards from where they dive. There is a beautiful fire pit area which was the perfect way to wind down in the evening, and there was plenty of firewood available. We did have a rainy afternoon, and when we got bored with playing games we appreciated the cable TV. We found the cottage to be very comfortable, both inside and out.

Other things we did in the surrounding area: ice cream in both Bellaire and Central Lake (Central Lake's ice cream was the winner), cherry picking at King's just north of Central Lake, and a drive around Torch Lake. There is a full service grocery store in Bellaire and Toonies, also in Bellaire, has great breakfast. The boat launch is directly across the lake from the cottage. We had 2 vehicles and were able to leave the boat trailer parked at the launch. We really enjoyed our week and we look forward to staying here again.

Awesome lakefront cottage!!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a week's stay at this great cottage right on Intermediate Lake in Belllaire, MI. The center is town is just a few minutes away and has an excellent brewery for lunch/dinner (Short's), as well as a very busy ice cream stand! There is also a post office, grocery store (Family Fare), and laundromat within a 10 minute drive. If you are looking to go to mass while you are visiting, you may be surprised and happy to see a Catholic church just down the street!

The cottage itself is great. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. Although the bathroom/shower was small... it did the trick perfectly. There are three bedrooms, 2 with queen or full bed and the other has 2 sets of 2 bunk beds. There is a small TV with cable provided and the WIFI was excellent/fast!! The cottage itself was very clean and you can tell that Todd and Julie take pride in this property. The lawn was meticulous and the flowers planted throughout the property were in full bloom and beautiful. We loved the clothesline in the yard... used that a lot to dry towels and bathing suits. Trash is picked up onsite weekly, so you don't need to worry about delivering it any place. There is no A/C... but even during a heat wave while we were there (temps were 90-92), we didn't feel hot. Once the sun went down, we opened up the windows and had a nice lake breeze to cool the inside.

My kids (6 and 8) loved jumping off the dock and playing water games. The water felt pretty warm in August. My husband went fishing every day in the rented kayak provided by the homeowners. Although it wasn't as stable as a fishing kayak, it did the trick and he was happy to catch some fish. We took day trips to Mackinac Island and Sleeping Bear Dunes. We also drove up to the UP to see what it was like. There were so many great places to see/do all within a 90 minutes-2 hour drive.

We drove from PA to this rental cottage to see what Michigan was like. It was a vacation that did not disappoint. I hope we can return someday to this lovely cottage!!

All-American All-Michigan Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a great All-American, All-Michigan vacation, which was packed full of boating, fishing, cookouts, campfires and swimming, all just steps away from a cute, comfortable and clean log cabin. We enjoying morning coffee overlooking the lake and listening to the loons, great breakfasts in town at Toonies and lunches at Dockside on beautiful Torch Lake. When the temps surpassed 90, we cooled down in Lake Michigan, which was a scenic 12 minute ride from the cabin. Our last day included an afternoon in town where the adults went to Shorts Brewery for beer flights and the kids ran the town shopping for souvenirs, getting latte's and ice cream and enjoying a little freedom. We brought our own boat and also rented the kayaks, which our daughters loved as it gave them the freedom to paddle around the lake by themselves. Thanks for making your awesome cabin available for others to enjoy!

Relaxing getaway in cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was really perfect for what we were looking for. It felt secluded, quiet and serene. Waking up to beautiful views of the lake every morning was very nice. We rented the fishing boat and kayaks - caught some small mouth bass and enjoyed afternoon paddles. Conveniently located just a few miles from the town of Bellaire for picking up food/supplies and stopping into Shorts for lunch or a beverage. The cabin was very clean and presentable upon arrival. Todd, the owner, was extremely helpful and courteous while making the arrangements. We'll definitely be back! I'd highly recommend a stay here.

Our new home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely wonderful vacation experience! The cottage is very well-maintained, stocked well, cozy, inviting, and accommodated our family of 6 perfectly! We loved the private setting, sandy beach area, outdoor eating area, and fire pit. Our kids never, ever got bored with all the space to play and fishing from the dock. We rented the Crestliner boat as well, which allowed us to explore the beautiful lake and reel in the bluegill and perch. We hope to make this our summer vacation home for years to come!!

Perfect Week on the Lake With the Kids

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a fantastic week at this cabin. The true highlight for us was the privacy. Our own dock, beach, and swim raft made for a perfect week with the kids. Plenty of room to play outdoor games. A great mix of sun and shade on the property too. We took the kayak up and down the lake several times, my only regret being that we didn't rent the second kayak.

It is the little things that make a big difference and the owners really pay attention to detail. Outdoor speakers for listening to music while on the beach, rope lighting for a great evening atmosphere, and a horseshoe pit were all nice surprises to find upon our arrival.

The pictures were spot on, we get exactly what we expected and more. We found ourselves spending the most time on the screened in porch. We saw a few beautiful sunrises while enjoying our morning coffee. The lake is quiet, with very few cottages within sight of this place. We saw a few loons in the early morning as we watched paddleboarders go by.

The cabin is old, but has a ton of character. We enjoyed opening the windows that lead to the screened in porch, giving the living room an outdoor feel. Everything was clean and the kitchen was well stocked with all of the items and utensils needed for the week.

The cabin sits close to M-88 for a quick 5-minute drive into Bellaire for dinner, coffee, groceries, movies, etc. Our favorite dining spot was Dockside at Torch Lake, only about 15 minutes away. Ice cream each evening at Ruthie's is now a tradition. Friske's Orchard and a day in Traverse City were a few other highlights of our stay.

Up until this year we stayed in cabin "resorts" with shared beaches, etc. This was a huge upgrade from that. I highly recommend this cabin. The owner, Todd, was pleasurable to communicate with and you can tell he and Julie take great pride in their place.
