About the host
Hosted by Roger
I have lived in Hawaiʻi for more than 75 years and truly enjoy meeting and talking with guests from all over the world.
In my home, I have also hosted many foreign students and interns through programs affiliated with the U.S. Department of State and the American Councils for International Education.
Hosts in these programs do not charge the government or the participants; the experience is rooted in goodwill and a shared commitment to cultural exchange. It has been a meaningful way for me to connect with people from different backgrounds and promote mutual understanding.

Why they chose this property
Waikiki has been welcoming visitors from around the world for more than a century. Like many locals, I avoided this area for years, thinking of it mainly as a tourist destination. Over time, I came to appreciate what truly makes Waikiki special.
There is a unique energy here created by the people you meet every day. The neighborhood feels lively yet welcoming, with people who are warm, happy, and often smiling at total strangers. That sense of openness, combined with the constant activity from morning to night, is what made this neighborhood a unique special place.
