Mauna Loa Estates vacation rentals

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved our stay at Hale Mauka! The location was great for exploring Volcano's National Park as well as other areas of the island (we recommend the hike to Green Sand Beach, worth it!!). The house was clean with all the amenities you could need, loved the excess of hooks for towels and wet clothes! Additionally loved the personal touches around the house, interesting books, art, and knickknacks. While not a necessity for a rental it made us feel like we were stay at a cool aunt's house rather than a random rental.

Very very conveniently located! It's about ten minutes from Volcanoes National Park, and not too far from other areas of interest as well. We visited from Kona so the difference in climate was extremely refreshing. Love the consideration placed in the small things too, like heated blankets and individual space heaters. It does get a little chilly in the evening at that altitude but I love the cooler nights. Thanks for the opportunity to stay!

Well-maintained property in Volcano, quiet and private. New furnishings, nicely decorated with local art, and beautiful yard. A lot of amenities that add value. If you plan to eat-in, bring groceries with you as the store in Volcano was not well stocked (we stopped at Costco near the airport in Kona). The kitchen was well enough stocked, perfect space for two people. Internet worked well for several business related zoom calls.

Beautiful, private, perfect place to see the east side of the big island . After a day of venturing out, loved returning to the peacefulness and cool breezes of the cottage . Fully stocked kitchen. Comfortable bed. Would love to stay here again in the future.

The pictures are accurate - this place really does feel like you're staying in a tree house! While there are neighbors, you cannot see them so you feel secluded and in the middle of the rainforest. It feels like it's just you, the morning birds, the nighttime frogs, and lush green surroundings. The hosts go above and beyond to ensure you have a good stay. They're super responsive via text if needed. They have equipped the kitchen with everything you need including spices and coffee. They provide a comprehensive binder of information about the home and what is available nearby to do, see, eat, shop. They also provide information on hikes and drives in Volcano National Park, conveniently located a short drive away. One thing that I did not know before visiting the Big Island is that there is a bit of a problem with theft, everywhere. Signs that warn you to not leave valuables in the car have piles of broken window glass next to them. In busy areas, I never worried, but off the beaten path I made sure to bring my stuff with me. The hosts of this property have provided a security system and a small safe to help you feel more secure. When staying in the Volcano area, if you plan to cook and prepare your own meals, know that grocery shopping is pretty limited. There are two nearby markets with limited supplies. The nearest big store is a 25 min drive, so plan accordingly. Overall, we enjoyed this charming cabin surrounded by nature and appreciated the hosts' thoughtfulness!

This was an amazing house that was well stocked with amenities (in the kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms). The hot tub in the rainforest was an amazing retreat after exploring Volcano NP (and has a little canopy so is enjoyable when rainy too). The wood inside is amazing. The communication with the owners and maintenance/housekeeping staff was excellent. We highly recommend this rental house and would definitely go back!
