It's fun! We two sisters are the owners, we grew up in the city coming to this house summers, and now that we are mothers ourselves, we love taking the kids home from a day on the ocean, and then letting them float in the waters of a pool protected by a mini-pear orchard, and pick their own apples. Every room on the ground floor (except the pantry) has doors that open to the surrounding gardens allowing for a true summer of bare feet, salt air, sweet corn, and simple satisfactions.
Our heirloom roses and hydrangea are protected from the deer by fencing, but now that my sister and I have children of our own, we are comforted to know that the pathways, gardens, and lawns are secured so that smaller children feel protected and as if they can explore to their heart's delight without straying too far.
