About Jimmie Walters

Andrew and Jimmie divide their time between Duluth, GA, Augusta, and their hideaway in Dahlonega. They are blessed with 2 beautiful daughters and their families, including 4 grandchildren. Originally purchased as a family getaway, Frog Call has been evolving for over 15 years, with the dream of sharing this peaceful, nurturing place come true, like pieces of a puzzle fitting together.

Jimmie Walters purchased this cabin in 1997

Why Jimmie Walters chose Dahlonega

The search for a mountain getaway spanned 2 years. Starting off on a personal tour with the Chapman family owners, by the time they forded West Cane Creek in the old jeep, Jimmie had tears in her eyes, and the search was over. The 50 plus acres of lush forest, meadows, streams, the trails, the end of road privacy and bordered by national forest, all creating peaceful seclusion from the outside world. And located just over one hour from Atlanta, and 6 miles from the Square.

What makes this cabin unique

The Cherokee Indians chose the Dahlonega area to settle for good reason. Starting with that wonderful slice of land, and an old caretakers' cottage given new life, the cozy living quarters have cautiously been expanded, allowing nature in, with a minimum of disturbance to the beautiful, natural surroundings, adding the breathtaking treehouse with queen size bed and 30 ft. bridge, and bunkhouse with hand crafted bunk beds. Organic gardens thrive in the meadow, by the pond.

In every instance the right people have shown up, bringing their gifts to take it to the next level of development. Whether it was funds needed, ideas for sharing, treehouse visions, an amazingly talented architect and team, an organic farming family, a nature loving landscape company, an out of work builder, flower garden gifts, or a husband who knew how to build ponds, what has been created is a totally unique, soul reviving escape. Add to that local individuals who can create a personalized experience for you with their talents and knowledge of the area.

'There are a 1000 ways to kneel and kiss the ground.' Rumi~

Loved Every Minute

  • 5 of 5

My family and I enjoyed every minute of our stay at Frog Call. We found the large back porch relaxing and ate most of our meals there. The sound of the waterfall in the background was soothing and added greatly to the relaxing atmosphere. Exploring the area with the golf cart was fun for everyone. We are already planning another visit.

Perfect getaway for a little R & R and a romantic escape

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing stay. The property was wonderful to explore and the setting is very romantic. Even with my close little Romancing the Stone moment while hiking in the rain, but that was far more related to improper footwear and following what I still believe was not an actual trail, then anything else.

This is the perfect place to switch off, connect and recharge. It's rare to find somewhere peaceful and free of cellphones and emails these days. We even got engaged on the property which has so many beautiful spots.

The treehouse was serene and soothing. If you ever use a white noise machine/app - you'll appreciate several cozy spots on the property. We didn't spend much time in the bunkhouse but frankly I am too old for bunk beds, however they were very beautiful and the kids will love them.

Since it is spring the property was crawling with little baby animals and busy moms; perfect if you enjoy nature. I had a great time feeding the fish at the pond out back of the main cabin. We enjoyed the property so much we didn't get out to explore Dahlonega too much, but we will next time. We can't wait to share Frog Call with our family and hope to be back soon.

Jimmie was incredible and helped with everything we needed, but was in no way intrusive, just available. Overall it was a truly memorable trip and well deserved escape from the stress of work, email notifications, our over scheduled and on the go lifestyle; which I love but is best to get away from every now and again. Highly recommend.

What a joyous retreat!

  • 5 of 5

I took my wife, two daughters (9) and (12) to Frog Call in early April for Spring Break on a last minute audible. Jimmie stepped up and got us booked in at the last minute and the property was in great shape at our arrival. We passed through the gate, shut it behind us and were all alone for five glorious days. The house is well-furnished and appointed. The heated floors in the master bath and dining room were a treat. The beds were very comfortable and the linens of high quality.

We all caught a fat rainbow trout in under ten seconds (not sure they had seen much activity for a while). We canoed around the pond, fished, swam (briefly...brrr!), counted tadpoles, chased turkeys, tested the echos and laid on our backs in the field watching the clouds and sky roll by. We took golf cart expeditions on the paths. We went for long walks together and alone. We did not sleep in either the bunk house or tree house but we visited them daily. We panned for "placer nuggets" and while we didnt strike it rich we did have a hilarious time.

The house is very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed and then some. There is little to no cell service, but the wifi works well and I was able to check in at work when I felt like it, which was rarely.

I highly recommend this place and hope to come back with some friends. We also visited the Consolidated Gold Mine which was a neat experience, but not for the claustrophobic. Thanks Frog Call!

best most peaceful ever

  • 5 of 5

This was the most positive experience ever. Owners are absolutely wonderful people. I really needed to get away from it all. There was just peace and serenity here all around you.. A treehouse in the woods with a heart shaped rock to greet you. A bunk house also in the woods with the most beautiful wood carving I have ever seen.

Yes there is also the main cabin with all the modern amenities. Although we spent little time there. The back screened in porch was our spot when we weren't out exploring in the woods- was a golfcart that was the first time in years my friend who is physically unable to walk very well or far to enjoy it all with me. We have been friends for about 49 years and have done and explored a lot together so this was like old times!

Just the perfect place in all ways.

I was asked by the owners to feed the fish in the pond for the week. I think they grew 2 inches while we were there. The frogs had strings and strings of frog eggs in the pond. They hatched out early in the week and were swimming around by the time we left. Wish we had been able to watch as they got legs and swam away. But after all we did have to return to reality. But it was with more clarity of thought.

Can't wait to return

Thank you sooooooooooo much Jimmie and Andy.

Fun & Relaxing Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Frog Call! We loved exploring around the property. The treehouse and bunkhouse are super cute, but we had plenty of room in the cabin for everyone to have plenty of room. Wish we could've stayed longer. Thanks for letting us enjoy your cabin!! Dahlonega is a fun weekend getaway.
