We had a great stay. Our family loved the location. We could walk to the piers ( across the street) or a 5 minute walk to the Donner Memorial Park where I would hike through daily with our dog.My parents enjoy the house with minimal stairs and 3 small but nice decks to go and relax outside.

Perfect Spot

The house is clean and the perfect size for a family of four and a dog! It's also in a great location. The public docks can be accessed on foot in less than one minute, and downtown Truckee is only five minutes by car.

This house is nothing fancy, and doesn’t have much classic Sierra cabin feel, and no great views, but it’s very comfortable and clean with lots of dishes and cooking stuff and comfortable furniture. Great location very close to Donner Lake.

This house is just perfect. The kitchen was a delight to prepare food in. A short walk to the beach was enjoyed several times a day. We were pleased that our small dog could be accommodated. We hope to return to this property.

Everything was as expected- no air conditioning but screens on the windows and fans for each room made it comfortable. The location is great - right across the street from Donner Lake access on the public piers and just a short walk to the private beach and state park. The house was perfect for our family of 6 adults. It was great to have access to the Tahoe-Donner resort and beach facilities for $20 pp/ per day. We look forward to coming back.

Great relaxing vacation

The pace was clean , is fully equiped ,the bbq had propaneis within walking distance to the lake , and a shortbdrice to town, and Donner state park, a short drive to Lake Tahoe ,very cute house. The only thing is that for the summer the home does not have air-conditioning and if its hot out side it can get up to 80 or 79degrees inside the house they have fans and it helps to be able to sleep at night, but it gets hot. Otherwise the home is great and comfortable and quiet neighborhood. We would visit there again.it was great.

Clean, warm, wonderful location.

As advertised. The best part about this property is the location. Close to everything but somehow out of the way. The rooms are all clean. The house is warm. Not the most luxurious. But the furnishings are comfortable clean and well maintained. All of the appliances and amenities work fine.

Amazing Donner Lake Location

This house was in an amazing location, perfect for boating with our own inflatable raft and kayak (which we could store in the garage). Two public piers and a small beach area are just 200 ft away. They were will stocked for beach and water fun, with beach chairs and sand toys and a small inflatable lounge chair for the kids. The kitchen had all the supplies needed. The house was clean and comfortable, and the local host was very helpful when we had questions. I would highly recommend.

Nice view when the rain stopped we had a good time

The home had not been cleaned when we arrived. It was raining cats and dogs and we had our old dog with us. We had to wait in the garage for two hours while a cleaning crew cleaned the home from the last people.

Close to ski resorts and easy access

Comfortable home. Important to note - this cabin is close to the 80 and you can hear the traffic when outside. I could see this being an issue in the Summer months. Winter season - you can't hear it from inside. Cabin is very close to the main drag of Donner Pass Road. Keep that in mind if traveling with dog/ small kids. Wifi was very slow. Lot next door is no longer vacant. Construction occurring during weekdays.

Thank you for your comments. There is still a vacant lot next door to this house. The owner of the property on other side of our vacant lot is completing construction. We kept the lot adjoining the house open to preserve the view of Donner Lake. Thanks for letting us know about the local Wifi provider. Cozy house with an amazing host

The house is half a block from Donner lake. Truckee businesses are close by as well as the entrance to the I-80. The house is compact and convenient - single floor with three bedrooms, kitchen and family room with plenty of sitting spaces. We were there during a huge winter storm with several feet of snow. The street and the driveway were cleaned regularly, at least once a day. On the side of the house the pile of snow was great for kids to play. We also brought a dog who enjoyed walks around the neighborhood. Both the owner and local contact were responsive via text and very helpful. We felt truly welcomed in the house. We would definitely stay here again.

Right by Donner Lake Public Piers

Nice little house by Donner Lake. Clean interior with plenty of bedrooms and sleeping areas. Fully stocked kitchen and laundry facilities and easy check in. The house is a 2 minute walk to a cluster of public piers on Donner Lake which we found to be very convenient during this year of high water and little "beach" areas. The one major drawback is that Donner Pass Rd. which runs around the Lake and is between you and the lake is busy with cars driving VERY fast. Can' just let the kids run down to the lake. But otherwise this house is in an ideal location to access Donner Lake, Truckee Downtown and pop over to Tahoe if you want. If you are looking for a huge house ON the lake with giant panoramic view windows, there are plenty of them available, but that's not what this is. Overall found it ideal for our family.

Perfect Lake House

My trip to Karri’s vacation house was cut short. We took a walk on the public pier across the road from the house. Be careful these public piers don’t have marking when there is a step and I mistep and twisted my ankle and fell in shallow waters. Ended up being a fractured ankle. But going back to Karri’s place , she is a gracious host and the place is clean and fully equipped with everything. The house is a few steps to Donner Lake. Highly recommend. Not as Advertised

My family and I wanted to love this house, but there was a lot in the listing that wasn’t accurate. -Near the lake and ski areas: True -Total Privacy: False, it felt like all the other houses are right on top of you. -Outstanding Views: False. You can see the lake from the house, but the view is through houses, across a busy road, and you can only see a sliver of water. -With a vacant lot next door: False. I suspect there was a vacant lot at one time but it has been built on. The pictures of the outside with no house between you and the lake is out of date and my biggest letdown. -High speed internet: False. We connected to the WiFi easily but could barely get online. Several internet speed tests came back with 6-8 mps. -Quality amenities throughout: Mostly false. The flooring was very nice and the family room was comfortable, but the house has a lot of deferred maintenance. Paint peeling, rusted out vents, and rusted racks in the showers made the house feel run down. -Quality linens: False. Sheets were rough and the bedding felt like it was from the 80s. Be warned that the beds are very firm, I felt sore in spots when I woke up. -Access to Donner Rec Facilities: true but misleading. You do have passes but it will cost you $20/person to swim at the pool or $12/person to go to the beach. It is very close to the lake though and the host is a very nice person. But we felt pretty let down by the house itself; I wish I had known the above ahead of renting.

Thank you for the opportunity to reply. This house is a private single-family home, not a condo or townhouse. The lot size is approximately 8,700 SF - significantly larger than most surrounding properties. There are views from the master bedroom deck as described online. It sounds like it may be time to trim trees on our adjoining lot, so appreciate the mention. THERE IS A VACANT LOT NEXT DOOR. The vacant lot adjoins this house and buffers it from Donner Pass Rd. There are no houses built on the Lake side of the road that block the view from the house. We also own the vacant lot, and have not built on it. Regarding the internet, many guests report they work well from the house, and this is the first complaint we've heard in several years. Service in the area is limited to the local provider, and we subscribe to a premium package. We encourage guests to call to report problems right away so they may be addressed promptly - both for their benefit, and also as a courtesy to the next guests. New/replacement linens are stored in the closets. Our local host is very accommodating and we contract with a reliable cleaning crew. They are happy to clean/replace anything that needs attention during a guest's stay. Guest comfort is our main concern. Regarding recreational fees, there are no fees for the public piers at Donner Lake like there are at Lake Tahoe. Tahoe Donner is a private facility available only to members and limited guests. We feel fortunate to be able to provide our guests access to the private Tahoe Donner facility up on the hill, and also to the marina with private HOA beach (open seasonally) only 0.3 miles from this house. The Daily Access Fee schedule is included as part of the arrival information. We hear form a lot of guests who are thrilled with the facilities, and most report the fees for everything from snow skiing to kayak rentals as moderately priced.

Location is everything!

We stayed with family and brought our dog. Place was nice and clean, no traces of other dogs when you come into house. Views of the lake from the house. We will definitely stay here again. We loved spending our days on the lake and sight seeing.

We love rafting on the Truckee River, winter skiing at Sugar Bowl, Squaw, Alpine, and Homewood, downtown Truckee restaurants and shopping, downhill skiing, sledding, and the close proximity of this house to Tahoe City, Reno, Sacramento, and San Francisco Bay Area.

We like traveling with our dog, and appreciate that other families do too! This Donner Lake neighborhood is very dog friendly, and so is downtown Truckee. In winter, we ski at Palisades Tahoe or Alpine and enjoy FAR LESS traffic going home than when we stayed in Tahoe City. It's also super easy to access Truckee off Highway 80 and easy drive back to San Francisco.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

This cabin has a vacant lot to separate it from Donner Pass Road... so much quieter than being right on the road or Lake - Lake Views and easy access without all the road noise. We prefer a single story house - feels safer and more comfortable for both the grandchildren and the grandparents. The fully equipped kitchen and full-sized washer/dryer are a big plus for families traveling with kids.
