This cozy getaway with bountiful views boasts a full kitchen, dining area, living room , bedroom and bath 900sf unit.

Serenity by the Sea sleeps two (2) people max either in the queen bed bedroom/bath or if you will be using as a friends retreat - the reading nook is the size of a twin bed 70inches long and 36inches wide with a comfy pad that transforms into a bed.

OCEAN VIEWS Ocean views abound from this second story guest quarter. The kitchen and dining areas have views of Burrow's Island/Bay, Allan Island and Skyline Marina while the bedroom has a beautiful view of Guemes Channel with the San Juan Ferry arriving and departing from the Ship Harbor.

WALK TO THE FERRY We are within walking distance to the San Juan Ferry Terminal on a nice day, three (3) miles from historic downtown Anacortes, one (1) mile from Washington Park and Skyline Marina. Ask us for the short cuts and easiest safest walks to and from the Ferry.

About Anna Smith

We purchased our home in Anacortes in late 2013. The beautiful and warm feelings in this house abound and we hope to carry the previous owners legacy on for Serenity by the Sea. The location is extremely serene and relaxing with beautiful views. We both instantly felt at home upon our first entry into the house.

With our location close to the ferry (it’s literally within walking distance) we knew this was the house for us. We love the small town atmosphere and all the charm it brings. Anacortes still takes a yearly town photo and has local parades/festivals every weekend in the summertime. This is all enhanced by the friendly nature of the locals and the good restaurants.

We see ourselves in Anacortes when we retire and we hope you enjoy our home as much as we do! We love to share the view and the peaceful stay!

Anna gets the Gold!

  • 5 of 5

As Floridians escaping summer, this region of Washington State is our very favorite vacation spot, and now Serenity by the Sea tops our list of places to lodge. We generally like larger spaces for any stay longer than a weekend, but this apt. has so much room and so much natural light that we never felt cramped. We too feared the lack of A/C, but it was never an issue, even in sunny July! The ceiling fans plus the cross breezes from the many windows took care of that. And the views! Never boring. I still miss the sound of the ferry horn...

Anacortes is not only an excellent choice for its access to the ferry system, but for the long list of its own wonderful outdoor attractions within a very short distance. What a gem!

Anna and Tony keep a cook's kitchen for those who are happy to eat in, with extras we didn't even expect. As a VRBO owner as well as frequent traveller, I can still say Anna wins the prize for hospitality! Her warmth and perfect balance of privacy and communication demonstrate a true gift.

Great Apartment!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Serenity by the Sea! Anna and Tony have thought of everything you could possibly need. I was worried about there being no AC, but it was needless worry. We were comfortable during the day and almost cold at night. Communications with Anna before and after our stay were easy and friendly. She always responded promptly. The apartment was very roomy. We were traveling the following week with 3 other couples who arrived in Anacortes on Thursday. We were able to have them over in the evening for wine and cheese and there was plenty of room for all 8 of us to sit and visit. The only regret was that we only had 2 nights in this wonderful apartment.

Beautiful weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

We've only stayed at a few VRBO properties and I have to say that this unit exceeded every expectation we had. We needed to find a place to stay in Anacortes as we were invited to a wedding in the area. I can't say enough about the fabulous location, the breathtaking views from the property, and the cozy cottage itself. We felt taken care of by Anna as soon as we decided to stay here. She even left us a bottle of wine and muffins upon arrival. Amazing! If you are looking for a place to stay in Anacortes, please look no further. I promise you will not be disappointed. I have absolutely nothing to complain about!

Five Star Experience

  • 5 of 5

Truly a wonderful stay in Anna's lovely Seternity By The Sea cottage. The islands and water views from both sides of the cottage, to the comfortable furnushings with sea decor, and the attention to every detail to meet the needs of even the most discriminating guests made our stay truly one of our best VRBO experiences.

We will be back again and again!

  • 5 of 5

When you pair this VRBO's ambiance and amenities with its proximity to local attractions, it scores more than 5 stars. You can see how lovely it is in the listing photos. Those water view pictures are really nice as well but it is even better in person. I took walks every day for two weeks straight. Walked to the ferry, along a waterfront trail, to hiking loops in the forest and more. We also drove to Canada for a day, went to another island for a day, and took some local scenic routes. We were just not able to do everything there is to do in the area, so I can only hope we will be able to rent this unit again and come back for the things we missed this time.

Tip for those flying to Seattle. We did not want to drive back to Seattle during the week, but our flight home was not until 1:30pm. We went in early and did Pike's Market before going to the airport. We will continue this "see one thing in Seattle before the trip home" approach to keep from having to drive in and back to the VRBO.

Couldn't Have Been Better Named

  • 5 of 5

So let me begin with the destination area.

Anacortes is a wonderful destination for getting away from the hustle and bustle. It is low key and the natives are all so friendly. We spoke with many people in stores and everywhere we went. From the residents to shop keepers, and the service staff everywhere we went was a smile and a friendly chat. Being from the opposite end of the left coast, this is a delight! We have had a similar experience in Portland Maine, but not many other destinations.

Also, Anacortes is a gateway to adventure and nature. And serious chill time. You need only research the San Juan Islands to see the possibilities in a trip to this special place.

Now, about Serenity By The Sea!

The review title is a good summary. So comfortable and welcoming, views to Burrows and Allen Islands past the harbor to the South out the dining room window. And Guemes and Cypress, as well as the ferry landing, looking North from the bedroom window. You can walk to the ferry landing, but you may want your car going to Guemes, which is a different ferry and a short trip, unless you are biking. Anyway, the home is so clean it was a pleasure! My wife has allergies and we have had previous problems in VBRO's with dust. Here you will not believe how clean it is! So leave it that way when you leave, and be a good neighbor as there are residents nearby. The owners are so very nice and accommodating, and go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. From the amenities to the referrals for activities and destinations. There are a lot of options if you visit Anacortes, but you will not be disappointed if you choose Serenity By The Sea. We will absolutely be back!
