About Ed Giroux
Ed and Susan Giroux live in Clifton Park New York. They have traveled to the mountain region of Lake Placid and Jay for vacation many times for hiking and kayaking. Unfortunately, each visit was always cut short due to their busy work schedules. In 2013 Ed retired and Sue dropped down to part time work. Now they could finally relax and spend some time in one of their favorite places in the world. The chalet was just the right vacation house for them. Large enough to accommodate a few friends or family for an over night stay and yet small enough so that it's cozy and affordable. They are currently working hard to make the place more attractive and add their personal touches. They look forward to sharing their home with others who might also appreciate it.

Why Ed Giroux chose Jay
Lake Placid and Saranac Lake are great places to visit, do some shopping and enjoy a lunch or dinner. However, after a few hours of the noise, and the smell of the car exhausts, it's nice to retreat back to the quiet forest and seek some refuge from all of this. This is why you come to the Adirondacks and this is why you come to our chalet in Ausable Acres. A quiet refuge from the noise and the crowds. Located less than 20 minutes from Lake Placid, 25 minutes from Keene, and right around the corner from great trout fishing in the AuSable river. There's a small pond just down the road, Fern lake is about 20 minutes away, and Whiteface mountain about 10 minutes away. There's plenty to do with many attractions nearby but at the end of the day a quiet, peaceful place to relax.
What makes this Chalet unique
The great room is what makes this house what it is. When you sit in the great room you have the cathedral ceiling above you, the fireplace in front, and a wall of glass to your side where you look out to the deck and the forest below. There's a wonderful sense of openness and yet it's quite cozy. The wraparound deck is about 50 feet by 12 and it creates the feeling of a giant patio and extends the size of the house and recreational area.

Verry Happy and Recommended
I gave the property 4/5 on cleanliness but I should note that it was very impressed and it was exceptionally clean for an older cottage in the middle of the woods. I gave location and neighbourhood a 4/5 which was accurate for our stay but it could be a 5/5 for some or a 2/5 for others. The chalet is in a secluded/isolated area that is some distance from secondary highways and Lake Placid. It was central for us as we were looking to visit both Lake Placid and Lake Champlain area. It was also very close to skiing and perfectly located for outdoor winter activities. Overall very happy with the interior of the Chalet. All amenities were present, water pressure was good, air conditioning worked well, kitchen was well supplied. Overall it was tranquil and relaxing and helped create great memories. Thanks again to Ed and Susan.
We had a great stay! The chalet had everything we needed and more!
Perfect place for what we wanted. A comfortable spot not too far from high peak hiking where we can have a fire, some quiet and a place to sleep peacefully. Owners were very attentive. Enjoyed our stay.
Weekend Away for Small Family
We stayed at the cabin in March, during a supposed winter storm, and couldn't have been in a better place to wait it out. The location is close to a supermarket and skiing, and is a short drive to the best hiking in NY and all Lake Placid has to offer. The cabin itself is roomy, and was plenty of space for the four of us. My 4 year old son had a great time playing outside in the snow, and we loved the relative isolation this rental offered (it's on a street with a couple other cabins, but is heavily wooded). Ed was a great host, and left clear instructions on how to access the home and make it ours for the weekend. He communicated promptly throughout the process, and I will be sure to look into renting this place again in the near future!
As advertised with no unwanted surprises!
Property was in great order upon arrival with no unwanted or differences from what was advertised. Owner was easy to communicate with and it made for a smooth fun weekend!
Excellent Ski Chalet near Whiteface
The house was very cute and met all of our needs for a weekend ski getaway at Whiteface. The heaters and gas fireplace kept the house very warm on what was a cold winter weekend. The location was fairly private and very quite and made for a nice setting in a snow storm. It's close to Whiteface for skiing and an easy drive into Lake Placid for exploring. Everything in the house was clean and well kept and the kitchen was well provisioned for cooking and dining. The owners were nice enough to leave us a bottle of wine as a gift which was a great start to a lovely weekend!
