We are two people who enjoy the smell of the salt air and sun in our faces and would love for you to encounter the same experiences we did when we fell in love with Harbor Island.
Karen purchased this Villa in 2012
Why Karen chose Saint Helena Island
Aside from the obvious; the sun, quiet beaches, local amenities, great fishing and golf, the very first time we stepped foot on Harbor Island we encountered many turtle nests! What's not to love about Harbor Island?!
What makes this Villa unique
Relax, relax, relax....Life is good when you can start your day off watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee, relax on the beach while watching the local wildlife, cook up some fresh local seafood for dinner and end your day with a glass of wine listening to the breeze rustling through the palm trees while sitting on the bungalow's back deck. Really, does it get any better than that?

We loved our long weekend. We found everything in great shape and enjoyed the view from the deck very much. Very comfortable and pleasant condo.
We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and the condo, Gail! Thanks for the 5-star review :).
We found this Harbor Island Resort villa to be very comfortable and clean with a well stocked kitchen and comfortable king size bed. We enjoyed the wonderful tidal marsh view from the deck and the short walk to access the beach and pool. Four beach chairs and two beach towels were provided (a UV beach umbrella or tent would have been appreciated). Karen was very responsive to our questions and needs. Highly recommend Hunting Island State Park and Johnson Creek Tavern, both are less than a mile from the resort. It's a 20 minute drive into Beaufort for groceries, etc., there are restaurants along the way and 30 minutes into downtown Beaufort and the historic district~~which is a must-see.
Thank you for your review. We're so glad you enjoyed the villa and found everything to your satisfaction! We will look into getting a beach umbrella / tent. We appreciate the feedback!
Clean and comfortable
We enjoyed the location to the beach and the condo was easily accessible for bringing luggage etc in upon arriving. Very comfortable. Always miss having a golf cart on harbor island and the upstairs neighbor was a little loud in the morning. Otherwise, a great condo and I would recommend this for an nice couples vacation.
A very comfortable piece of heaven!
The view from the living room is absolutely mesmerizing. The marsh is wonderful to watch and the view of the ocean beyond makes it seem it all just goes on forever. The townhouse was clean, quiet, and incredibly comfortable. The kitchen was well prepared for a couple of days. My only suggestion is, if there are adults sleeping on the sofa bed, bring an air mattress. However, the bed in the master couldn't be more comfortable.
Check in was a snap. Karen, the manager of the property is quick to respond to questions throughout the entire process. If you have the VRBO app, everything you need is there.
I counted the steps from the front door to the middle of the beach and total steps were 500. I have never been on a more beautiful beach. It is very active with birds, turtle nests, and very lacking in lots of beach goers. This makes for such a peaceful and relaxing day.
Coming out of Harbor Bay, to the left about a half a mile down the road is everything you need. Marsh Tacky is a great little sandwich shop. The Salty Mike is the best with fresh mozzarella, tomato, and pesto. Behind Marsh Tacky is Johnson's Tavern, the best seafood restaurant I have ever had a meal. They also have a really wicked burger. On your way back from checking these places out, there is a little market on the right. It doesn't look like much but is has most everything you need for food, fishing and crabbing.
There are no strangers on the island. Everyone is welcoming and helpful
The only grocery stores are Publix and Walmart at about a 25 minute drive. If you make the drive, stop at Barefoot Farms for some great produce and Gay Seafood for great fresh fish and shrimp.
This was by far the best vacation I have had in years. If you are comparing and looking for a one bedroom cozy and wonderful place to stay, look no more!
Our island stay
The condo overall was pretty nice and met the description stated. The bedroom carpet did have some staining that could probably be cleaned. Also, the parking lot was a little rough as they were working on the storm drains. They did finish up the parking lot our 2nd to last day
Nice and clean
Create your very own memories! Harbor Island is a gated community that provides 3 miles of never crowded beaches and an abundance of low-country wildlife with a great turtle watching & nesting beach. Tired of the sand (are you kidding me?!) - relax at one of the 3 swimming pools. The Olympic size pool located at the Beach and Racquet Club overlooks the salt marsh so you are never without a view. The view from the villa crosses a large salt marsh and looks toward Hunting Island State Park where there is a Lighthouse with a public beach including kayak tours and nature trails. After a full day of taking advantage of all the shopping, art galleries, restaurants and tours of historical downtown Beaufort or playing one of the many local golf courses, stop by Gay's Fish Company and select some of the fresh seafood from right off the boat. A traditional low country boil while sitting on the deck at sunset will make you forget about any worries. This villa comes equipped with updated appliances, including a washer and dryer, refrigerator with ice maker, coffee maker, blender for those frozen concoctions, beach chairs, CD and DVD player (some music/movie selections are included), linens, towels, a FANTASTIC view and much more. Hilton Head Island and Charleston are a short drive away. Come, relax and enjoy the low country. Just don't forget your sunscreen!
