About Pine Island:

Pine Island is the largest island (18 miles long, 2 miles wide with five unique communities) off Florida’s Southwestern Gulf coast. We're just 15 minutes from Cape Coral and 30 minutes from Fort Myers, but our secluded, small town atmosphere is a world away! Pine Island has an abundance of dolphin, manatee, an incredible variety of bird and wildlife, and of course: FISH, FISH, FISH! The South Pine Island area has been rated by Field and Stream magazine as one of the top 25 fishing locations in the country! Tarpon, Grouper, Sea Trout, Snook, Flounder,Snapper, Redfish and Triple Tail are a few of the popular game fish that are known world wide as some of the best fighters and dinner entrees. There is nothing like a fresh caught fish prepared for dinner after a great day of fishing! A great location for young kids to fish as well - with almost every cast producing something on the hook.

Pine Island has a paved bike path running the length of the island, an 18 hole golf course, public tennis courts, and numerous art galleries in Matlacha. Home to many artists, authors, song writers and poets, Pine Island is also known as “Florida’s Creative Coast”. Enjoy shopping in our fine art galleries and specialty shops.

Surrounded by mangroves, three aquatic preserves, acres of palm, tropical plant and fruit groves; we have escaped the cement and skyscraper development so predominant on other Florida islands. Along with being on one of the finest fishing locations in Florida, Pine Island is a haven for birdwatchers and nature lovers. Hiking trails, kayak and canoe waterways, and ancient Indian shell mounds will add to your outdoor adventures.

Dining on Pine Island draws many people to the island just to enjoy the great food and fun atmosphere of the local eateries! Whether it's a heaping cup of Seafood Chowder at Captain Con's, Pig Wings at the Ragged Ass Saloon or the infamous Pineapple Upside Down dessert at Woody's, you will leave the island anticipating how long it will be until you return.

About John & Linda Gall

What can I say about us? We are very family oriented, love to be on the water, and are strong in our Christian faith! We love, love, love the time we spend on the island each year. Having vacationed on Pine Island for the last 13 years, we finally decided to purchase this home from my Uncle to plan for our retirement here.

John & Linda Gall purchased this house in 2013

Why John & Linda Gall chose St. James City

We purchased this property from my Uncle who has owned it from when it was built. Purchasing the house was a way to keep family treasures in the family and gave us the opportunity to share the house with others. We feel the house is a blessing to us and thus pray that it will be a blessing to those who rent it as well.

What makes this house unique

We love the inviting nature of this house. From the sliding door walls - the doors store against the outside wall - thus there is no door blocking the views to the pool and canal, to the great layout of the house. One can sit on the seawall, enjoying a cup of coffee and watch the manatee swim past with their young, swimming out into the bay and back again throughout the day, we never get tired of watching them swim by.

When out boating, the dolphins swim in our wake providing a fantastic show for any age. A thrill we repeat on a daily basis. The fishing is fantastic! The eagles on the island are intriguing! With numerous nests nearby, you can walk, bike or drive to see them in their nests at any time of the day.

Not all good

Very peacefull place, if you want a vaccination in peace away from noise and action.

The house was not new, but somehow nice, comfortable and and it was beautifully decorated, had a personal touch to every room, but there were also evidence that it was older and worn and with a little lack of maintenance.

The toilet couldnt flush, garageport/door didnt work but was keept up with and old wire that broke, many of the fans didt work properly, they were old and some strings broken, the new grill was so rusty and dirty and a part of it didnt work.

We had rented it mostly because of the pool, but we had many problems with the pool, the pool man came bye and something was wrong with the heater, so it was not warm, the light in the pool did not work and the lamp and electrical wires was floating around in the water, so after 6 0 clock it was a dark black hole nobody wanted to jump into.

Dont felt secure also with the electrical wires and lamp floating around in the water.

The owners tried to get it fixed, at beginning they were very friendly and helpfull, but they did not manage to solve the problems, talked about if they should fix it they needed to dig up some concrete and make new wires.

In the beginning the owners were very nice, sweet and helpfull, but along the way I think they took it personal that we mentioned all the "errors" in the house, and then they changed, and when we asked for some money back since we could not use the pool properly they went angry and refused, after some time they wrote they wanted to pay back a smaller amount and we are happy for that.

We never asked for a specifik amount back, just asked if we could have some money back after all the problems with the pool.

But then they started to accuse us for bad cleaning despite we had cleaned (have photos of every room) and we had paid a High amount for cleaning afterwards, and neglect the problems we had, the toilet only need to be taken apart and one screw was needed, the pool needed more water, just turn on the light and so on.

Every house can have problems, nobody can guarantee it will not, but the worst thing was how it was handled, it was very unpleasant.

There was no need for being childish and demeaning.

We planned this vacation and saved for 1 year so it was not the best dream scenario to have this problems of course it took some fun of the vacation.

Wonderful Florida Home

  • 5 of 5

We spent the month of March at this beautiful home and enjoyed everything about it. Most VRBO homes are well equipped, but this house had everything vacationers could possibly need in good supply and in perfect working order. The Manatee Bay community is very quiet with all beautiful waterfront homes. We rented a boat from Monroe Canal Marina for part of our stay and enjoyed the easy access from the home to the southeast side of Pine Island where there are quiet bays and mangroves. The fishing was good every day and we caught numerous different varieties of fish. Linda and John are very accommodating and responsive. We had a great time.

Great value for our family.

  • 5 of 5

We were very pleased with our stay on Pine Island. We especially appreciated the owners willingness to help with anything that came up. Our grandson made great progress on his swimming with the pool so available. There was plenty of space to spread out and yet be close. We used the kayaks and saw manatees swim by. Absolutely a great week. We would highly recommend this property.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of our property Jacqueline, I just saw it today (May) not sure how I missed it. We are glad you had a great time at the house, and that happy your grandson enjoyed the pool. That pool would entice any age swimmer, or non swimmer, to jump in and learn to swim! We spend many hours enjoying that pool and the waters around the island. Thank you again for renting with us, and we hope you will return again.

We had a blast

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with my 3 children and my parents for a week. We were fortunate to have perfect weather all week. The home is really nice, furniture is super comfortable, had kayaks, bikes, everything you need. The owners were great, they answered my questions, were very friendly and responsive, I felt very comfortable renting from them. We rented a boat for the week from Monroe marina, was super happy with them as well. We went boating everyday, explored everywhere (about 400 miles by boat) learned a lot about the area, caught a ton of fish! I was concerned about coming to Pine Island as I didn't find much to do when I searched the internet, so I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised how much fun we had boating. This turned out to be one of my all time favorite vacations. We went shelling at Sanibel (drove there by boat) Cayo Costa (must go by boat). This home has a great lay out. When we came home each night we would sit by the pool and talk about our day and discuss our next day plan. I loved that the home had NHL channels, I got to watch my favorite hockey teams. The only thing that could improve the stay is if the home had wifi.

Relaxing Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at this wonderful home for the perfect vacation. The house was so comfortable and inviting with a perfect layout and had everything we could need and more!! Our three kids spent countless hours in the pool, some days right after breakfast and other days they swam and played until well after dark. My husband cast netted off the dock and did quite well catching bait fish for our many tarpon fishing attempts. We would highly recommend this rental. John and Linda are so friendly and made sure our stay was a perfect as we had hoped. We hope to stay here again in the very near future!!

Paradise in Pine Island

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful home with us! It was our first time in Pine Island and we were so lucky to have picked your house, we fished from the dock in the back, watched the fish jump in the canal and we enjoyed the pool! We explored the area on the bikes and enjoyed the various restaurants and visited several nurseries. We also had so much fun exploring the canal in the canoes, so much fun!

The house is extremely clean and very well equipped, the moment we walked through the door we felt at home, the bedrooms are spacious and the beds and linens are great, you will sleep like a baby!

Linda and John are wonderful and always accessible, very friendly and accommodating! We had an unforgettable stay and we will definitely come back!

Thanks for everything!
