About Jon Stotts

I live in NYC and built a weekend house in Austerlitz, NY after falling in love with the area in 2006. I love the City, but crave a simpler country life to charge my batteries from time to time. I had 40 virgin acres on a ridge line and had to figure out how to get infrastructure put in place before I could start construction. I finally got the house built in 2012, after owning the land for six years. It has truly been a labor of love and I hope to share its beauty with others.

Jon Stotts purchased this house in 2006

Why Jon Stotts chose Hudson Valley

The house is perched atop a hill in the middle of the woods all by itself. The rolling hills and views of the Catskill Mountains to the West and Berkshire Mountains to the East are breath taking. The locally produced foods are amazing. There are blueberry festivals, county fairs, chili cook offs, live performances and other local events every weekend in the summer, great hiking close and skiing all winter.

It's also very easy to have guests meet you as the Albany airport and Hudson train station are both close.

Local towns offer rustic to sophisticated dining options, but staying home and cooking in the big kitchen or outdoor grill is sometimes hard to beat.

What makes this house unique

You can watch the sun rise and sunsets bath the Catskills in a pink light from the back deck or hot tub with a coffee or wine in hand and not have to see another person for days (if you don't want to). Wild turkey, deer, fox and other wild life stroll by the house daily. It's so quiet, you'll only hear the wind, nature and the occasional passing plane.

Seclusion Awaits

  • 4 of 5

My family and I spent a long weekend at this Blueberry Hill property and absolutely loved it! The home was very clean and comfortable and the views were magnificent. We took many walks down the long driveway while enjoying the changing leaves and the occasional deer crossing in front of us! The nights were full of unobstructed views of the stars and the full moon. We fully enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home and would love to return sometime in the future.

Clean and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We spent Columbus Day weekend on Blueberry Ln. The house was very clean and comfortable. With four kids, one with multiple severe food allergies, traveling can be quite a hassle, but that was not the case here. The kids had a great time playing around in the yard and taking walks down the long driveway. The views were spectacular and the first night we were there we were able to enjoy the Draconids meteor shower. There was so much to do in and around Austerlitz! We spent a day at the Divine Mercy shrine in Stockbridge and got to enjoy the Austerlitz fall festival as well (although the weather was a bit uncooperative). We are hoping to visit again soon and enjoy more of what the area offers. Highly recommended, Jon is a great host!

Perfect getaway-from-it-all with a view!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a long weekend at the Blueberry Hill house in Austerlitz for our annual girls weekend and had a fantastic time. The house is located away from it all but offers every amenity you could need--plus a breathtaking view. We enjoyed the hot tub, fire place, and just exploring the property itself. The kitchen is updated and fully stocked and we cooked every meal in. The bedrooms were comfortable and with 2.5 bathrooms, never an issue! Jon was very easy to work with and communicated throughout, as well as making suggestions of things we could check out. We enjoyed the nearby Hudson-Berkshire beverage trail (wineries and distilleries galore), as well as the Beebe Hill hike and exploring the nearby towns of Chatham and Stockbridge. Would highly recommend!

Great home, great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay on Blueberry Hill over Memorial Day weekend. The house was clean, well-stocked, and well-situated for exploring Hudson and the Berkshires. Lovely view of the sunset over the valley from the back deck! So nice and quiet, we loved it. Jon also was great - we were in touch about check-in, etc., and he was always very easy to reach.

A Perfect Weekend Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

The house is lovely, clean, and well maintained. The location is relatively secluded (perfect for us). We took one big food run to Price Chopper in Chatham, and got our wine at "drink", a liquor store right behind it. Price Chopper had a large selection which included organic choices. Perfect. The kitchen is very well equipped (with such an awesome pizza cutter, we had to have a home-made pizza night!) - so if you love to prepare and eat home cooked meals, you'll be set. The knives were sharp (I was particularly impressed with that), and I didn't need the extra cooking tools that I brought from home (yay!). The beds were all comfortable. No complaints at all. The grounds were spacious, and the kids had a blast in the woods. We were 2 families traveling with a total of 5 kids (4 boys ages 8-13, and a 3 yr old girl). The owner was very responsive when we had questions. We spent the coldest weekend (President's Day) of this winter (lows reached -33*F!) here, and the temperature indoors was easy to maintain with a Nest, and we got a fire going in the fireplace ... we were nice and cozy. Our plan was to take the kids to Catamount, but it was too cold (we didn't want to navigate the frigid temperatures with 5 kids, one of which is a 3 yr old ... brrrrr!). Instead, the men took the boys for a quick bout of tubing at Butternut (there's no tubing at Catamount). They loved it! The kids spent most of their time romping in and exploring the woods, and concluded that it was one of the best weekends ever - they made walking sticks, built a "hut" with miscellaneous branches, followed a creek up (or down?) stream, looked for wildlife, identified animal tracks in the snow, etc - all things they don't have the chance to do back home. Would love to go back. Highly recommend to anyone interested in getting away to enjoy the countryside. The views are spectacular, and the resident telescope proved remarkable - the stars and moon were out in full display. Wonderful gem. No wonder the owner fell in love with the area.

A Very Happy New Year

  • 5 of 5

Another relaxing getaway on Blueberry Hill and a great way to ring in the new year. The house has everything you need, with gorgeous views. We found it hard to leave the house during our stay because it was so cozy to relax in the house, but when we did there was plenty of family friendly activities a short drive away: Great Barrington for restaurants, movie theater and shopping. Bash Bish Falls for a beautiful New Years Day hike, and Stockbridge, Lee and Lenox a picturesque drive away. The owner is impressive in his responsiveness and it's clear he has put a lot of care into this property. It's always a treat for us to visit and hope we can come again soon.
