Overview

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 7

This 3 bedroom 2 bathroom two-story cape is private, quiet, and overlooks a lovely cranberry bog. Inside it's airy and open with rustic, European charm. Living room, dining room table and kitchen are in one large wood-paneled open space. Easy to get to, the house is conveniently located off Route 28, at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. On the large deck behind the house, you can enjoy a cup of tea in the morning, a sun-drenched tanning mid-day, or an evening cocktail, all with nothing but nature as backdrop. Walk down the short path leading to a lovely walk around the peaceful cranberry bog, where you'll often spot an egret or a great blue heron.

Choose among several nearby beaches and ponds to swim, sunbathe, sail, windsurf or walk - all within a mile or two. The Cape Cod Bike Trail is within walking (or bike riding) distance and you can pick up home-baked muffins and pies at Marion's Pie Shop on the way back.

Chatham Center, just five minutes away by car, is known for its enticing shops, weekly band concerts in the gazebo, a charming historic little library, and a selection of restaurants ranging from casual to fine dining. (And baseball fans will NOT want to miss the opportunity to attend a Chatham A’s game at Veteran’s Field, also just 5 minutes away.)

Why Alex chose Chatham

We have always thought Chatham was the best place to stay on the Cape, and when we were children our parents used to rent a cottage for us to spend a family vacation week there. But they always had their sights set on a little spot overlooking a cranberry bog close-by, and when that went up for sale in 1976, they snapped it up. Before long we had this lovely vacation home built, and have loved it ever since. We're happy to share it with others who will love it as we do.

Great home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We can't express how pleased we were with this house. The place is full of charm, rustic and immediately makes you feel relaxed. We are a family of five and there was plenty of room for all of us to enjoy. We appreciated the location, close to the beaches and downtown, yet in a quiet setup with just nature in the background. The house is full of books, games for the kids and beach stuff. Our three kids enjoyed sleeping in the same room upstairs with three twin beds. Outside, you can see egrets and herons on the cranberry bog just down the path and have a glass of wine on the spacious deck. Since the rates were so reasonnable for a Cape house, we treated ourselves with a two-week vacation, which is so much better. The owners were really kind to deal with and we can't think of any negative aspect about this house.

Quiet, affordable and comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

This delightful cottage at the end of a cul-de-sac is only a few minutes from Chatham center, the fish pier, and central to many places around the mid-cape. We shared it with another couple (they brought a queen-sized air mattress) and barbecued, relaxed, and biked to the bike trail (less than two blocks away). The owner was very gracious and helped us get the internet up and running (since we were the first to use it this season), and was responsive to any questions or needs we expressed. It had everything we needed.

Great home for a week on the Cape

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at the house this past week. The home is small yet spacious enough for our family of 5! The kids enjoyed walks along the cranberry bog - they spotted herons, turtles, cardinals and blue jays. The area is very quiet which is nice and is only minutes from Ridgevale, Cockle Cove and Hardings beaches. Marion's Pie Shop is too close to be good for your waistline!

Great home for a vacation or weekend get away

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at this home in Chatham, Cape Cod, Mass. Enjoyed walking around the cranberry bogs, visiting the beaches in the area, shopping, shopping, shopping. This home is situated at the end of a cul-de-sac and provides lots of privacy. I have mentioned this home to friends who enjoy bicycling, walking and hiking along the greenways.

Nice home with good location, yet in a quiet setting.

  • 5 of 5

Home is located on a cul-de-sac off a main road, which is very quiet and inviting. The back of the house has a lovely deck overlooking a cranberry bog, so no chance of loud or disruptive tourists spoiling your outside time, and we walked around the bog after coffee in the morning. The kitchen is just the right size to prepare any meal, yet not to big as to take up needed living space. The living room is open and spacious with a nice bedroom and bath off to the side. Upstairs bedroom is also very nice, and although there are stairs, they aren't steep or too numerous to trek up. A nice quiet getaway in the hustle and bustle of Cape Cod makes this a must stay for anyone.

Rest and relaxation

  • 5 of 5

We spent several nights in this rental. Dealings with the owners was

pleasant and easy. We weren't looking for a fancy place, and this suited our needs exactly. The house itself is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac overlooking a cranberry bog-what could be more Cape Cod? We enjoyed walking around the bog in the mornings as an autumn mist drifted. We even picked a few cranberries! The house was clean and well maintained, with a great room with lots of games in stock for the kids to play, and a long table for

family dinners. It's also perfectly situated for visiting local beaches, thrift and antique stores, eateries and gift shops, and the charming town of Chatham. Since the house is tucked away behind a rose hedge, and the rental price is so reasonable, we felt like we had managed to stay in an undiscovered treasure.
