FIRE UPDATE: We are very fortunate that all of our cabins are fine. The recent fires missed our side of the mountain. Downtown Gatlinburg and all of the attractions are largely unharmed as well.

The view of the Smokys is still perfect from Number 6 Cabin. Most of the fires burned through so fast that they did not damage the trees. The leaves and underbrush burned, but the trees seem to have survived. Christmas, Extreme Week, and New Years will go on as usual in Gatlinburg. (Might not have fireworks for New Years).

Did we say 'great' enough? It's all true. Everyone that stays here says they love this cabin. And the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is well... Great.

Number 6 Cabin just finished a full top to bottom, inside and out renovation last summer. This is the sixth property that we have renovated in the Chalet Village resort. Usually, when are working on a cabin we find its most distinctive feature and use that to come up with its name. While we were working on this cabin, there were just so many great features that we just could not come up with that perfect name that could properly describe all of the unique features that we put into this chalet. During the renovation, everybody started referring to this cabin as 'Number 6', since it was our sixth. In the end, we stuck with the name decided to call it Number 6 Cabin, a combination of it's own unique character and everything that we have learned from the five that came before it.

The result of the renovation on Number 6 Cabin is a very comfortable vacation chalet which combines modern comfort and convenience with the rustic charm that its developers created 50 years ago. We know that you will enjoy your vacation here and want to come back season after season and year after year.

Number 6 cabin has three floors. The lower floor is the game room and bar area. It has a full size pool table and lounge area with plenty of seating. There is a wood burning fireplace at one end of the game room with a 55 inch television mounted over it. In the bar area, there is a wet bar with a beverage refrigerator. There is a computer workstation for those times when you just need a keyboard and mouse to look something up or check in. The bar area has a 32 inch television. The sofa in the bar area converts into a very comfortable full size bed. This floor offers a full bathroom with a shower. There is also a full size washer and dryer located on this floor. The lower floor is carpeted throughout except the bathroom which is tile.

The second floor has a very comfortable living room with sofa, loveseat, and chair. There is a wood burning fireplace in the living room with a 40 inch television mounted over the fireplace. The dining room has a very large wooden table which can seat 8 or more people comfortably. The beautiful kitchen has all new stainless appliances. There is a master bedroom with a king bed and 32 inch television on this floor along with a full bathroom with tub and shower. The second floor has hardwood flooring throughout except for the bathroom, which is tile. There are excellent views of the mountains from the living room and dining room. There is a wrap around deck on this floor which has a picnic table, rocking chairs, and the hot tub.

The upper floor master bedroom has a king bed and a lounger. The master opens onto a private covered deck which has one of the most spectacular views in the Smoky Mountains. It offers an unobstructed full on view of Mt. Le Conte and the Great Smoky Mountains national park. There are deck chairs provided where you can relax 'between the bears' rain or shine. There is a 32 inch television in this bedroom. The rear bedroom has two queen beds in it and includes a 32 inch television. There is a full bathroom on this floor which has a tub and shower. This floor is carpeted throughout except for the bathroom which is tile.

Entertainment - For those times when you want to just kick back and chill, Number 6 Cabin has state of the art entertainment. Each room has a Smart TV with DirecTV High Definition entertainment. Each of the bedrooms and the bar area have a 32 inch screen while the living room has a 40 inch screen. In the game room, there is 55 inch screen over the fireplace. Each of these televisions are WI-FI connected and offer Smart Apps such as Netflix, hulu+, Amazon, Pandora, facebook, twitter, and hundreds more. We offer high speed (30+ Mbs) Internet so you can stream to your WI-FI connected devices without a hitch. Every TV has available HDMI inputs so you can bring your game console if you want. We also provide Blu-Ray/DVD players which can be hooked to any of the televisions if you want to bring your own discs.

Number 6 cabin is our sixth cabin in Chalet Village and it is our best yet. We take great pride in renovating our cabins to bring them up to current luxury accommodation standards.

Driving - Please note that Chalet Village is located on the side of a mountain above the City of Gatlinburg. Access to this area is by steep mountain roads. The roads are generally in excellent shape, even during the winter ski season. The driveway at Number 6 Cabin is only about 25 feet long, but it is steep. It is accessible by most vehicles. Cars with very low ground clearance (Corvette) may drag at the entrance to the street and are not recommended. Trailers are also not recommended. If you have a trailer, let us know and we can arrange an alternate parking spot for it. Vehicles with slick tires or no tread may not be able to access this cabin. There is good flat parking with turn around at the top of the driveway. There is parking for a maximum of three vehicles. Some of our guests who are not used to driving in the mountains do experience 'driveway panic' the first time the see the driveway. Usually, after they have driven up a time or two they become pros. We have had hundreds of different vehicles at the cabin and only one or two that were too low to make it.

About Tim & Carol Addington

We live here locally on the mountain, very close to our rental cabins. We retired from our 'real' jobs a few years ago and have been buying and renovating cabins up here ever since.

We traveled a lot when we were working and we have used that experience to put some touches into our cabins that we would like to see when we stay overnight.

Until now, we have rented our cabins through an agent. Since we do most of the maintenance anyway, we decided to start renting directly.

We use a professional cleaning service to clean this cabin. We do as much of the maintenance as we can by ourselves. When needed, we can quickly bring in professional help.

Our number one goal is for you to have the best experience possible on your Gatlinburg vacation. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you before or during your stay.

Why Tim & Carol Addington chose Gatlinburg

We own seven chalets, including our own home, in the Tyrolia section of Chalet Village. This was the first section of Chalet Village and was developed in the mid 1960's. As the first section, the developers chose the best location with the best views. The lots in this section are usually larger with more spacing between chalets. The cabins in this section were solidly built by craftsmen who added charm and character that is not found in newer construction. We look for these old jewels and renovate them to their former glory while adding modern amenities that are expected in luxury accommodations. Our goal is to own properties close to where we live so we can manage them more efficiently. As we have added properties, we have learned what features to look for and which ones to avoid.

We bought Number 6 Cabin primarily because of the view, but also because the configuration of this property makes it a great rental cabin. The three floor design makes it a good choice for multiple family vacations.

What makes this chalet unique

It took us over a year to renovate this property. Yeah, we're slow, but we take the time to do it right. Over the course of the renovation, there were so many times when we looked out at the view and just stopped to appreciate it. Every season brings a unique view and no season is better or worse than the others.

Of course, the bears that wander through from time to time are always a thrill too. There is a 'Bear Highway' on the hill behind the cabin and a lot of times you can look out the windows and see them playing in the woods.

Amazing views and great location!

We had a great time at the cabin! We found everything we needed there. We were 7 adults and there was more than enough space. Tim and Carol were very nice and attentive. The cabin also has a great location and amazing views of the mountains. I definitely recommend it.

Exceeded expectations

This was the best property I've stayed in while in Gatlinburg and by far the best vacation experience. The place was clean, quaint, and had everything you could possibly need. The bed was comfortable, the view is priceless from all 3 decks! I can still see it now. It was a quiet area and was so peaceful and charming. Yes the driveway is steep, but was expected in the mountains. We had no trouble and I drive a vw Passat. There was ice on roads and driveway when we left, and still had no trouble. The owners, Tim and Carol, made sure we had salt for the driveway just in case and they responded within a minute with any questions we had. We are already planning our next getaway and will be contacting them for accommodations! Thank you for the attention to detail and making your home perfect for vacation and available to us. Our time at your cabin was priceless. We will be back as quickly as possible! Beautiful place, perfect accommodations, exactly what you want in a mountain vacation home!

Number 6 Cabin in Gatlinburg, TN

My family and I have been coming to Gatlinburg, TN for Thanksgiving for seven years. Some of the properties in the past promoted great views, and when you got there, you were looking into trees. There is nothing like sitting on the deck in the early morning, drinking coffee and looking across the mountains. The description on this property is 100% accurate. It is very, very nice! It is not out dated, and all the beds were very comfortable just as described. It was also very clean!! We have stayed in some cabins in the past, where I feel like the cleaning people have slept on the job. My family and I would highly recommend this property, and we are planning to stay here again in the future. We had a bear that greeted us on our arrival day, and that alone completed this trip!

Better than advertised!

From the moment we arrived we were very impressed with the cabin. There was more than enough room for my wife and I and our 4 kids. They really enjoyed having breakfast at the picnic table on the deck each morning. Seeing the sun rise over the mountains each morning was wonderful, and the views were unobstructed. We've stayed at other cabins in the area before, but this one is now our favorite...we will return.

It's all you could want and more!

This house was perfect for us (4 adults and 2 kids). Very clean and well maintained - and I'm a stickler about that because we have rental property of our own. The owners were great - very quick to answer questions and provided all the information we needed. They even sent us a little text when we were driving telling us about a car show going on in Pigeon Forge and all the traffic we may encounter (We never go that way but I thought it was super thoughtful of them to give us a heads-up just in case!)

The views are great and I can imagine they are even better in the winter when the trees across the street have less leaves on them. But trust me it is wonderful to just sit out on the deck in the evening taking in all the beauty.

We would stay again in a heartbeat! Thanks for a wonderful getaway!

Chalet Village is located on the boundary of the Great Smoky Mountains national park. The drive to the park visitor center is less than ten minutes.

It is a 15 minute drive to Pigeon Forge, TN and the Dollywood theme park. There are many live shows and entertainment complexes in this area.

This property is at the same elevation as the entrance to the Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort. If staying in winter, it is highly recommended that you have all weather tires with good tread. If snow/ice conditions exist, an all wheel drive vehicle or vehicle with chains may be required. The City of Gatlinburg does an excellent job of clearing the roads, but in the case of a snow/ice storm during your stay, you should be prepared to wait until the roads are cleared. It is always a good idea to have an extra day or two of supplies when staying in winter.
